$DUOL and $ZG May Be Early Inflection Stories the Market Still Underestimates

The stock market has always had a problem with the known versus the unknown. We know what’s happened in the past, and that can create a narrative that’s either positive or negative. And it’s easy to extrapolate the recent past to infinity. But the future is inherently unknown. In 2022, $Netflix(NFLX)$ saw revenue fall sequentially in the fourth quarter, and the company’s growth was clearly decelerating. The slowdown was a shock following solid numbers during the pandemic, and shares lost 75% of their value in early 2022. But late 2022/early 2023 was also an inflection point for the business. Revenue growth picked up in the back half of 2023, and the company has posted solid revenue growth from then until today. No surprise, the stock also did well

SG Big 3 Banks Earnings Recap: NII Falls, Who's Winning in Q1?

All three beat Bloomberg consensus but also posted NII declines as SORA averaged just 1.07% in Q1 (vs 2.54% a year ago). The dividing line wasn't credit quality or margins — it was wealth management execution. And on that measure, the gap between the three is wider than the headlines suggest. 📊 Q1 2026 Scorecard for $DBS(D05.SI)$, $UOB(U11.SI)$ and. $OCBC Bank(O39.SI)$ DBS — Deposit surge + wealth machine, guidance upgraded. Deposits +9% YoY to S$629.9B (two-thirds CASA), wealth fees at a record S$907M, AUM reaching S$492B. FY2026 profit guidance upgraded from "below 2025" to "good shot at 2025 levels." The cleanest beat of the three. UOB — The outlier: onl
SG Big 3 Banks Earnings Recap: NII Falls, Who's Winning in Q1?
TOPShyon: I’d still choose $DBS(D05.SI)$ into year-end because it continues showing the strongest execution among the three banks. Even with lower rates pressuring NII, DBS still delivered strong deposit growth, record wealth fees, and upgraded guidance. I also currently hold a position in DBS as I see it as the most resilient Singapore bank in a volatile market. I think Middle East tensions and global uncertainty could continue supporting Singapore’s safe-haven wealth inflow advantage. Among the local banks, DBS looks best positioned to benefit due to its scale and stronger wealth management franchise. $ocbc bank(O39.SI)$ has interesting long-term upside if its Indonesia integration succeeds, while $UOB(U11.SI)$ still needs stronger execution in wealth and fee income growth. If I had to pick one bank most likely to upgrade FY2026 guidance again in Q2, my choice would still be DBS. @TigerClub @TigerStars @Tiger_comments @Tiger_SG

Will Barrick Mining (B) Show Positive Capture Of Gold Prices Despite Its Rising Operational Costs

$Barrick Mining Corporation(B)$, formerly Barrick Gold, is scheduled to report its fiscal Q1 2026 results on Monday, May 11, 2026, before the market opens. Coming off a year where gold prices saw significant volatility—peaking near $5,400/oz in early March before retracing—this report will be a critical indicator of how well Barrick captured those high realized prices against a backdrop of rising operational costs. Barrick Mining (B) reported its fiscal Q4 and full-year 2025 results on February 5, 2026. While the headline numbers reflected record-breaking financial performance fueled by high gold prices, the stock famously dropped over 8% immediately following the announcement due to a cautious outlook for 2026. Today, my stock in focus is $Albemarle(ALB)$ after the company posted earnings that far exceeded expectations, sending shares sharply higher. The world’s largest lithium producer benefited from rising lithium prices and stronger demand from the EV and energy storage sectors, highlighting a potential recovery in the lithium cycle. Supply conditions have also tightened significantly due to a mine closure in China, Zimbabwe’s export ban, and lower lithium inventories globally. Albemarle’s lithium division revenue surged 70%, driven by both higher prices and stronger sales volumes, showing improving momentum across the battery materials market. $NVDA $VRT $HUT Drive Portfolio Gains, But Market Rotation Is Now Critical

Portoflio Update - Best month of 2026 but this intraday drag is probably what most will experience today. Some ideas have clinched 10 x ATR% from 50-MA to trim and trail. As much as I wish, I don't think it's sustainable for Market to continue a straight up rally without a week or 2 of sideway or pullback action. Outcasted groups need to improve their relative strength and start participating, not continue widening the performance lag — preferably within the value segment. More opportunities to come if it happens. $Hut 8 Mining Corp(HUT)$ $Micron Technology(MU)$ $Direxion Daily Regional Banks Bull 3x Shares(DPST)$ $ISHRS COR

Singapore COE Breaks S$125k: Will Chinese EV Be a Better Choice?

The results for Singapore's first COE bidding round in May are out: Category A (Small/Mid-sized) hit S$124,790, and Category B (Large/Luxury) reached S$126,236. This marks five consecutive increases, with the COE price now easily exceeding the cost of a mid-range car itself. 🚗 What is the COE? The Certificate of Entitlement (COE) is a "quota license" required to drive on Singapore's roads. The total supply is controlled by the government, and licenses are auctioned every two weeks. For Category A, there were only 1,265 quotas available, but 2,410 bids were placed—a nearly 90% oversubscription that drove prices straight to S$125k. This piece of paper is valid for 10 years, after which its value drops to zero unless you renew or re-bid. Total Cost of Ownership: A Toyota Corolla Altis (approx
Singapore COE Breaks S$125k: Will Chinese EV Be a Better Choice?
TOPMHh: The COE is insane but demand for a car will continue to drive this up. Personally, I don’t have a real need for a car and cannot justify spending so much money to buy an asset that depreciates immediately upon purchase. I will stick to my MRT. If necessary, the ride hailing services in Singapore is also convenient and competitive and all in, is still cheaper than getting a car. Also, it is better to be driven around than to drive my own car. I think byd has pretty much saturated its market share in China and has to look at Southeast Asia market to increase its market share. Indonesia looks like a promising market and is big enough. Also, EVs is a mature market in China unlike many of the Southeast Asia markets where there is still untapped market. For a premium market of $300k, I think many Singaporeans would rather get their Mercedes or Lexus which are clear symbols of wealth than a nio! So, I don’t think it will take off in the short term unless the brand establishes itself more.

US Market Unstoppable New High: "Big Short" Warns, Too Late to Chase?

$SPX$ hit an intraday high of 7369.22 yesterday, $IXIC$ reached 25,850.19, the Dow climbed back above 50,000, and $NVDA$ surged +5.77%, reclaiming a $5 trillion market cap. Is simply holding stocks enough to make money now? 1. AI earnings momentum keeps pushing the market higher AMD reported Q1 data center revenue of $5.8B (+48% YoY), with Q2 guidance at $11.2B (+46% YoY), beating Street expectations by 6.3%. ARM Q4 licensing revenue rose +29%, while data center royalties doubled YoY. The CEO stated clearly: the more complex agentic AI becomes, the more systems require CPUs for orchestration and coordination. ARM is transforming from a “mobile architecture tax” into an “AI data center architecture tax.” 2. Geopolitical risks cooling down The U.S. and Iran are reportedly close to signing a
US Market Unstoppable New High: "Big Short" Warns, Too Late to Chase?
TOPShyon: To me, the recent highs in SPX, IXIC & $NVIDIA(NVDA)$ reclaiming a $5T market cap show that the AI cycle is still the main driver. At this point, holding quality AI-linked stocks has largely been enough, as earnings from names like AMD & ARM keep expanding the same infrastructure narrative across CPUs, orchestration & memory. At the same time, I’m aware the market is becoming more divided underneath the surface. Even with geopolitical risks easing, hedge funds have been net sellers & leverage in tech is coming down, which suggests institutions are becoming more cautious even as indices grind higher. So I’m staying invested but more selective. I still focus on AI infrastructure like AMD and ARM, and memory names like $SNDK$ and $MU$, but I prefer waiting for better pullbacks rather than chasing extended strength when sentiment starts to look stretched. Overall, I think discipline and timing matter more than ever in this phase of the cycle. @Tiger_comments @TigerStars @TigerClub
