$SIA(C6L.SI)$  Singapore Airlines' (SIA) 59% year-on-year decline in Q1 net income to S$186 million is a sharp deterioration, particularly when viewed against the backdrop of only a marginal 1.5% increase in revenue to S$4.79 billion. This suggests that the cost side of the equation – particularly non-operational pressures such as losses from Air India Ltd. and reduced interest income – is beginning to weigh more heavily on the bottom line. Key observations: 1. Air India Drag: The investment in Air India, while strategic in positioning SIA within a fast-growing aviation market, has evidently become a short-term liability. Losses here reduce consolidated profitability and cast doubt on the near-term returns from thi

DBS is making headlines again — surging toward the SGD$50 mark as investors cheer its strong capital position, digital growth, and dividend momentum. But beneath the surface, there’s a key risk developing for the broader sector: Net Interest Margin (NIM) compression. So while DBS flies, will OCBC (and even UOB) be dragged down? DBS Still the Star DBS has managed to outperform thanks to its diversified earnings, tech investments, and cross-border growth. The race is on between two of the biggest chip giants in the AI revolution — NVIDIA and AMD. With both stocks riding the AI wave, investors are asking a simple question: who gets to $200 first? And more importantly, which one has the better risk-reward profile from here? With strong datacenter demand and growing software revenue, it’s hard to argue against its dominance. Mega Earnings Week: Big Tech, Crypto, Finance—Which Sector Will Steal the Show?

The week of July 28-August 1, 2025, is a make-or-break moment for markets, with a deluge of earnings from technology, financial services, energy, and cryptocurrency sectors colliding with the Federal Reserve’s interest rate decision. The S&P 500’s record highs at 6,263.26 and Nasdaq’s 21,000 milestone reflect bullish sentiment, but a VIX at 15.94 and looming tariff risks signal volatility. Recent earnings have been a mixed bag—Alphabet’s modest 0.88% gain despite a beat and Tesla’s 4% drop on a miss highlight a market punishing weakness. Can this week’s heavyweights—Meta, Microsoft, Apple, Amazon, and others—lift the gloom shadowing the season? This report dives into the key catalysts, top stocks to watch, and strategic trading approaches to seize opportunities while managing risks. Ke

DBS’s charge toward S$50 is a big moment for Singapore’s banking sector, but also a reminder that the easy gains may be behind us—at least for now. After an incredible 52% rise last year, this year’s 16% YTD move feels steadier but also riskier, especially as DBS now trades well above book value. That kind of premium only holds if the bank can keep growing earnings—but with margin pressure now accelerating, there are definitely cracks appearing beneath the surface. A pullback after reaching new all-time highs wouldn’t be surprising at all. Profit-taking is normal at psychological milestones like S$50, and volatility could pick up quickly if upcoming earnings (from DBS or OCBC) disappoint. DBS’s own warnings about the impact of margin compression and rate headwinds show that even the strong

The race to $200 is heating up between AMD and Nvidia, and the stakes couldn’t be higher. AMD’s momentum has been undeniable—up another 2% on Friday to close at $166, riding a wave of strong earnings, new product launches, and growing belief in its ability to challenge Nvidia in AI and data centre chips. If sentiment stays this bullish and traders keep chasing “the next Nvidia,” AMD could easily keep rallying, especially if the company delivers another round of upbeat guidance or lands a major new partnership in the coming weeks. On the other hand, Nvidia’s fundamental strength remains the gold standard in AI hardware. American Airlines Beats on Q2 Earnings and Revenue, but Guides to Q3 Loss: Navigating Turbulence Ahead

$American Airlines(AAL)$ American Airlines (NASDAQ: AAL) reported second-quarter fiscal 2025 results that outpaced Wall Street expectations on both the top and bottom lines, driven by resilient summer travel demand, cost controls, and strategic capacity management. Yet despite the upbeat quarter, the airline tempered investor optimism with a more cautious forecast for Q3, projecting a loss amid rising fuel prices, continued labor-related cost pressures, and signs of softening demand in late August and September. The mixed results underscore the challenging operating environment legacy carriers face, even as travel normalizes post-pandemic. DBS cresting $49.21 [OMG]  is no small feat! but with a P/B North of 2.0x & margin compression looming, the climb 📈 towards $50 might need a breather. Loan book's solid 💪, but elevated valuations vs. book value suggest volatility ahead. 🚀 AMD surges to $166, NVIDIA rides Alphabet’s $10B AI capex wave — Who’s got the edge in the race to $200? S&P New High Again 🔥Extreme Greed: Avoid Summer Dip?

The S&P 500 and Nasdaq have once again posted new all-time highs. NASDAQ (.IXIC) S&P 500 (.SPX) With the Fear & Greed Index sitting in the “Greed” territory, many investors seem to be rushing into risk assets without hesitation. But I’m not one of them. While the dominant narrative may be bullish and perhaps justifiably so, I find myself leaning into selective skepticism. My Core Investment Philosophy: “Buy Low, Sell High” But Not Every Low Is a Buy Let’s start here: I believe in buying low and selling high. It’s a timeless principle, but it’s also one of the hardest to execute consistently, especially in a market driven by hype, algorithms, and short-term emotion. Importantly, not every dip is worth buying, and not every high is worth fearing. It all comes down to context, con

I Try Not to Be Greedy: Lessons from the Market & Life

Whether it's with stocks, money, or anything else in life, I’ve made a conscious effort to avoid greed. Why? Because I’ve come to believe that greed quietly erodes peace of mind. It pushes us to chase more, even when we already have enough. And in that endless chase, we lose sight of what truly matters—contentment and gratitude. In the Stock Market: Small Profits, Big Perspective When I invest in stocks, I always try to remind myself: a profit is a profit even if it's small. Yes, there are times when I look back and think, "I sold too early." I’ve seen stocks climb higher after I exited. I've calculated what I could have made if I had held on just a bit longer. That kind of thinking is natural, especially in a market that often rewards risk-takers. But then I pause and remind myself: “Woul

China Assets Back to Street! After HSI Breaks 25000, Ride or Run?

The Hang Seng Index (HSI) recently surged past the 25,000 mark, reigniting investor interest and bringing China assets back into the spotlight. HSI (HSI) Yes, China Assets Are Rising… But I’m Still Watching from the Sidelines Let me start by saying: I don’t currently own any China-related assets, and at this point, I don’t plan to buy any either. This isn’t because I doubt the long-term potential of Chinese companies—many of them are highly innovative, resilient, and offer real growth stories. The hesitation comes from a few very practical, personal reasons. 1. I Struggle to Buy When Prices Have Already Jumped Like many investors, I try to follow the classic wisdom of “buy low, sell high.” With the HSI rallying sharply and many individual China stocks surging off their lows, I find myself
