Wall Street Hits Fresh Highs Ahead of Nvidia Earnings

US Markets Extend Gains

US equities closed higher as investors positioned ahead of Nvidia’s $NVIDIA Corp(NVDA)$  much-anticipated results. The Dow Jones $DJIA(.DJI)$  added 147 points (+0.3%) to 45,565, while the S&P 500$S&P 500(.SPX)$   gained 0.2% to finish at a record 6,481. The Nasdaq $NVIDIA Corp(NVDA)$  also advanced 0.2% to 21,590, reflecting broad optimism in tech-led momentum.

Europe Mixed on Banking Weakness

European shares ended with a mixed tone. The German DAX slid 0.4% as banking stocks weighed, while the FTSE 100 edged 0.1% lower. However, the French CAC rebounded 0.4% after its prior session’s sharp drop, showing selective recovery across the region.

Asia Reacts to China Data

Asian markets were uneven after China’s industrial profit figures showed signs of recovery. Japan’s Nikkei 225 gained 0.3% to 42,520, but China’s Shanghai Composite fell sharply by 1.8%, and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng $HSI(HSI)$  declined 1.3%, highlighting lingering investor caution over China’s economic resilience.

Outlook and Insights

Investor sentiment remains tilted toward optimism in the US, supported by record highs and expectations of strong tech earnings. However, Europe and Asia show uneven performance, with banking sector weakness and China’s recovery concerns still pressuring markets. Going forward, Nvidia’s results could set the tone for global risk appetite, while economic signals from China remain a key driver for regional sentiment.
