🧾 How I Earned $19 in Just One Week Selling Cash-Secured Puts on TIGR
💼 Strategic Income Through Options
Last week, I executed a simple yet effective cash-secured put (CSP) strategy on TIGR (UP Fintech Holding Ltd), targeting the $8.00 strike price. Instead of buying the stock outright, I sold a short-dated put option that allowed me to collect premium while potentially owning the stock at a discount if assigned.
📆 The Timeline
• June 17, 2025: I sold 1 lot of TIGR PUT 20250718 at a strike of $8.00 and collected a premium of $0.27 per share (total: $27 for 100 shares).
• June 25, 2025: With the stock holding steady above $8, I bought back the same contract at $0.08, paying $8 to close it.
💰 My Profit Breakdown
By selling high and buying back lower, I locked in a tidy profit:
• Premium earned: $27
• Cost to close: $8
• Net profit: $19
⏱ 1 Week. 1 Trade. Solid Return.
This trade took exactly 8 days from open to close. Considering the short time frame and the low-risk nature of cash-secured puts, I’m pleased with a 2.4% return on the $800 collateral tied up for just over a week.
✅ Why This Strategy Works for Me
• I only sell puts on companies I don’t mind owning (TIGR fits my criteria).
• I choose strike prices at or slightly below recent support levels ($8 was a key level for TIGR).
• I look for high implied volatility to capture generous premiums.
• I manage risk by closing early when premiums shrink, locking in profits.
📈 What’s Next
I’ll continue using this strategy to generate weekly income rolling the option further a week while keeping dry powder ready for stock opportunities. If TIGR dips again, I may re-enter with another CSP — or even accept assignment if the stock drops to $8, effectively buying it at a discount
