10x stock picks? What’s possible, what’s probable?
I have seen a number of posts listing$NVIDIA(NVDA)$
For me, I am just being practical... not optimistic... though optimism is no doubt a strength by itself. I have held a couple of 10x stock picks before but they did not turn out to be life changing... The main reason was that I had held them all the way up, and all the way down [Facepalm] [Spurting] Yup, believe it or not. It is not about getting a 10x pick, it's also about if it continues to grow stronger. It is also what you did to protect your gains.
I have since learnt to take my initial investment off the table while letting the profits run. Take for example my long position in $Wheaton Precious Metals(WPM)$, it's currently my closest position to theoretical 10x pick. I have it for quite a long time now (more than a decade). I did a series of purchases then, with around $19 being the highest price I paid for. It's currently sitting at around $91. I can't remember when was it, but I have already taken my initial investment off the table with some profit to spare. So, currently they are running for free. I must say the reminder is looking good on its own. Obviously, I could have made a lot more if I had not taken some profits off, but how would I have known?
To me, to get 10x picks, it's all about looking for good and relatively small players in their respective industries. Not the giant players.
I won't deny that giant could grow a lot bigger, like what Mag 7 did during their dream run phase post COVID. Just how often this will happen? There's always a confluence of factors before this could happen. I am not sure if this kind of run will happen again in the near future. I doubt so if I am being truthful.
On the other hand, small and developing players in the right sector is a different animal. Yes, they are definitely higher risk. However, if you do your homework, the chance of hitting 10x is much higher than waiting for the next crazy Mag 7 run!
Just to list a couple of examples of interesting sectors, silver. Yup, not gold or platinum, but silver. Why? Gold has run up quite a bit, pulling the gold-silver ratio higher. The next phase in my opinion is to go back to the Long term mean of around 50. There are just so much more to run if this is indeed the case. Furthermore, the growing importance of silver in the new green economy can't be underestimated. Silver will go into deficit before you know it and it will take a long while to dig all those silver out! I am looking at $Sun Silver Ltd(SS1.AU)$ and $Silvercorp Metals Inc(SVM)$. Yup, small caps they maybe, we are looking at a long driveway with plenty of silver holding.
Just look at silver chart, breaking out of its recent highs...
My other interest if you have been following my posts would be in defence. I held RTX. Just sold out and it shot up when Israeli bombed Iran 🇮🇷 [Facepalm] [Spurting] [OMG]
For 10x sake, I have held on to KTOS or Kratos (a small-ish but growing in significant company), obviously Titomic, AML3D and Droneshield, all from ASX listing. These, I believe, will be the next wave of defence contractors that would deliver my 10x growth and more...

- Kristina_·06-18TOPTotally agree—getting a 10x stock is only half the story. The real game is knowing when to trim and lock in gains. Small caps with real utility like silver and defense? That’s a smart angle.👍👍LikeReport
- Ah_Meng·06-17What’s probable is obviously also possible [Tongue] Simple rule of thumb, buy good company that is likely to last a long time in a good or up and coming sector.LikeReport
