Selamat Hari Raya! Share Your Feast Delicacies With Families and Friends!
March 31 is the Hari Raya public holiday in Singapore!
As one of the major holidays in the country, it brings with it a rich tradition of gathering with family and friends, wearing traditional outfits, and, of course, enjoying a wide array of delicious food.
During Ramadan, Muslims fast from dawn until sunset, refraining from food and drink. This discipline helps them empathize with the less fortunate and emphasizes generosity. For Muslims, this holiday is like "New Year," marking the end of the fasting month.
The warmth of food is always on time! Don't forget to say "Selamat Hari Raya" to your Malay friends!
One of the most iconic parts of Hari Raya is the food!
From traditional sweets like Kueh Koci, Kueh Lapis and Dodol (a chewy coconut dessert) to savory treats like Cucur Bawang (fried dough with shrimp), the celebration is a feast for the senses. Many families also enjoy Pulut Tai-Tai (blue butterfly pea rice), which are delicacies that add color and flavor to the table.

One of my favorite parts of Hari Raya is the food. Dishes like Rendang, Lontong, and Satay are must-haves, bringing rich flavors and nostalgia to the table. Traditional sweets like Kueh Lapis and Dodol make the celebration even more special, adding a touch of sweetness to the joyous occasion.
Beyond the feast, Hari Raya is about reconnecting and sharing happiness. Whether through heartfelt greetings or home-cooked meals, it’s a time to appreciate the people around us. Wishing everyone celebrating a wonderful Hari Raya—Selamat Hari Raya!

🌟🌟🌟Hari Raya Puasa is a joyous celebration that marks the end of the fasting month of Ramadan for Muslims. It is a wonderful time to get together with families and friends to celebrate this special occasion.
In Singapore, we live in a multi racial and multi cultural society where Chinese, Malays, Indians live side by side harmoniously.
I am fortunate to live next to a beautiful Muslim family who have invited us to their house for a get together. My neighbour 's wife has a wide variety of food prepared such as Nsi Lemak which is coconut flavoured rice as well as Beef Rendang which comprises of succulent bites of beef cooked in a delicious curry gravy and some chicken satay. Her chicken satay is absolutely heavenly as the pieces are barbecued perfectly with a yummy peanut sauce.
Her best dish however is the pineapple tart. The short crust pastry, made with Golden Churn butter simply melts in my mouth and the pineapple filling has the sweetness and tartness of flavour that complements so well with the pastry. The end result is simply divine. She also gives me some to take home as she knows how I love her tarts.
This tradition has continued for several years every since I moved to my present house. In return I reciprocate with an invitation to our house during Chinese Lunar New Year.
I am so grateful to be living in Singapore where there is peace and harmony. Let us not take it for granted especially when there is still war in the Middle East and the Ukraine.
I would like to extend my heartfelt warm wishes to all the Muslims in our Tiger Community -
Selamat Hari Raya Puasa which means Happy Hari Raya or Eid Mubarak which means Blessed Eid. May Peace Prevail During This Special Season.
