Trump Warns More U.S. Casualties Are Possible in Iran Operation -- WSJ

Dow Jones03-02 06:00

By Marcus Weisgerber

President Trump warned Sunday that there would likely be more American casualties as the U.S. military continues strikes against Iran. Three U.S. servicemembers were killed and five seriously wounded, U.S. Central Command said earlier.

"We pray for the full recovery of the wounded and send our immense love and eternal gratitude to the families of the fallen," Trump said in a video posted on his Truth Social platform. "And sadly, there will likely be more before it ends. That's the way it is...but we'll do everything possible where that won't be the case."

Trump said U.S. combat operations against Iran would "continue at this time in full force, and they will continue until all of our objectives are achieved."

Trump also urged the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps, military and police to "lay down your arms and receive full immunity or face certain death." He called on the Iranian people to "be brave, be bold, be heroic and take back your country. America is with you. I made a promise to you, and I fulfilled that promise. The rest will be up to you, but we'll be there to help."
