智能手机市场显示出饱和之势，创新缺乏导致过去几年内销售回落。市场在去年第四季度重回正增长并延续至今年一季度，然而回到2016年峰值有难度。
当时苹果、和三星等手机厂商出出货量为14.73亿台，创下了行业纪录。截止2020，智能手机出货量降至12.92亿台，为2013年后最低。
25年前诺基亚发布了Nokia 9000 Communicator机型，当时性能领先世界，然而乔布斯的灵光一闪使得iPhone彻底击溃昔日龙头。
在2007年首款iPhone发布后，智能手机销量起势。14年过去后，下一个潜在增长动力可能是5G，5G手机出货量今年预计增长近130%，其中将近一半来自于中国。
全球移动供应商协会研究发现，至少有370家公司正在或已经投资专用移动网络，5G部署势头开始得到增强。
根据IDC 的预测，2021智能手机出货量同比增长7.7%至13.8亿台，明年则会增长3.8%至14.3亿台，到2025年前的复合年化增长率为3.7%。
该机构警告：
虽然7.7%增长率感觉上是市场显著反转，但我们需要记住这是从史上最艰难的一年复苏。
