9月26日，据华尔街日报报道称，英特尔已与台积电接洽，商讨投资或制造合作事宜。英特尔隔夜美股大幅收涨近9%，该股近三个交易日累涨逾18%。
据悉，在美国总统特朗普上月对英特尔表现出兴趣之前，英特尔就已经在接触苹果和台积电。在获得美国政府入股后，英特尔加快了相关工作。
今年8月，美国政府与英特尔达成协议，将以约89亿美元收购英特尔9.9%的股份，成为其最大股东之一。这笔投资部分来自美国《芯片法案》提供的补贴。
美国政府正利用自身影响力帮助英特尔扭转颓势，商务部长卢特尼克及政府其他官员数月来一直敦促科技公司与英特尔更紧密合作。
日本软银集团上月宣布对英特尔投资20亿美元。本月早些时候，英伟达宣布，将向英特尔投资50亿美元，并与其联合开发PC与数据中心芯片。
英特尔曾是全球最大的半导体公司，但如今正深陷困境，其芯片代工业务近年来持续亏损，拖累了公司经营状况。
此前已有媒体报道了英特尔寻求苹果投资的消息。
