Tesla Motors has officially launched its 6-seat Model Y variant, priced starting at 339,000 yuan, marking a 75,500 yuan premium over the standard version.
On August 19th, the 6-seat Model Y made its debut on Tesla's official website with a starting price of 339,000 yuan. The company is offering three-year interest-free financing and an 8,000 yuan paint option fund for referrals.
According to official specifications, the Model Y L features dual-motor all-wheel drive with front and rear motors delivering maximum power of 142kW and 198kW respectively. The vehicle accelerates from 0-100 km/h in just 4.5 seconds and reaches a top speed of 201 km/h.
Equipped with an 82kWh ternary lithium battery, the new vehicle achieves a maximum CLTC range of 751 kilometers with energy consumption as low as 12.8kWh/100km, while weighing only 2,088 kilograms.
The large six-seat new energy SUV market faces intense competition. Tesla's Model Y L is priced just 800 yuan below the Li Auto L8 (starting at 339,800 yuan), positioning it to compete directly with models like the Li Auto L8, Aito M8 pure electric version, and NIO LE90.
Shortly after the vehicle's launch, Zhang Xiao, head of Li Auto's product line, posted on social media: "Model Y L has finally arrived. Li Auto L8 finally has a direct comparison target. We welcome everyone to make comparisons."
**Interior Features Revealed - No Refrigerator or Zero-Gravity Massage Seats**
Tesla has recently invited media for interior previews of the vehicle.
For the interior, Tesla has upgraded the central touchscreen to a new 16-inch display with approximately 30% higher resolution. The front seats feature ventilation and heating functions. The second row offers independent seats with ventilation, heating, electric folding adjustment, and electric armrest adjustment. The third row also includes heating and electric folding adjustment capabilities.
Additionally, the front wireless charging pad has been significantly upgraded, supporting simultaneous 50W+30W wireless fast charging with air cooling.
Notably, features commonly found in similarly priced competitors such as independent leg rests, seat massage, zero-gravity seats, and refrigerators are currently absent from this vehicle's configuration list.
In terms of space, the vehicle offers 2,539 liters of storage capacity. Even with six passengers, the trunk can still accommodate two 24-inch and one 20-inch suitcases. The optimized roof structure provides additional headroom.
While maintaining the same width, Tesla has expanded the rear lateral space by 20mm, creating ample lateral space for the third row.
**Tesla 6-Seat Model Y Debuts - 18cm Longer, China-Exclusive Model**
According to previous information from China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Tesla 6-seat Model Y measures 4,976/1,920/1,668 millimeters in length/width/height, with a wheelbase of 3,040 millimeters.
This means the Tesla 6-seat Model Y has increased in length by 17.9 centimeters, height by 4.4 centimeters, and wheelbase by 15 centimeters.
Regarding the chassis, the new vehicle features comprehensively improved vibration filtering performance. The chassis is equipped with CDC continuous variable damping shock absorbers, providing more refined and clear road bump filtering while offering better support during high-speed driving.
**Conclusion: Tesla Further Completes Product Matrix**
Against the backdrop of intensifying competition in the global electric vehicle market, Tesla's launch of the 6-seat Model Y represents a key strategic adjustment to address declining sales and complete its product matrix. Facing strong competition from Chinese brands like BYD and Li Auto, Tesla urgently needs differentiated products to consolidate its market position.
However, competitors like Li Auto L8, Aito M8, and NIO LE90, with their differentiated advantages from supercharging networks and LiDAR luxury configurations, continue to pose direct challenges to Tesla. Moving forward, Tesla needs to find balance among space optimization, pricing strategy, and technological iteration to regain initiative in this global electric vehicle market battle.
