Gold Hits Record High as Greenland Crisis Fuels Safe-Haven Demand

Gold prices surged to a record high, while silver approached its historical peak, driven by escalating safe-haven demand amid a worsening crisis in Greenland and a sharp decline in Japanese government bonds.
US President Donald Trump has shown no intention of abandoning his plan to annex Greenland. The Prime Minister of Greenland has advised citizens to prepare for a potential military invasion, although he stated such a scenario is unlikely. Spot gold reached $4,781.19 per ounce.
Spot gold climbed 0.3% to $4,775.40 per ounce; silver rose 0.3% to $94.8940 per ounce. The Bloomberg Dollar Index fell 0.1%. Platinum prices edged slightly lower, while palladium prices remained unchanged.
