Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing said its JASM plant in Kumamoto, Japan recorded intensity that reached levels requiring evacuation.
TSMC said personnel safety is its top priority and that its Kumamoto plant carried out a rapid precautionary evacuation.
Japan's Chief Cabinet Secretary said there have been no reports so far of damage to TSMC's Kumamoto plant.
