The companies said the deal is designed to generate about $300 million in annual run-rate cost synergies within two years after closing, with completion targeted for the first half of 2027.

2. Vaxcyte reported positive late-stage trial results for its pneumococcal vaccine. The company said its candidate met its main goals in adults aged 50 and older, producing immune responses that were at least comparable to rival shots across the shared bacterial strains. The result supports its plan to keep advancing the program and move toward a future U.S. marketing application.

3. Huawei and Qualcomm signed a multiyear patent licensing agreement covering 5G, AI, and networking. Qualcomm will also buy certain Huawei U.S. patents under the arrangement, which includes cross-licenses across compute and networking technologies. The companies said the deal will close after regulatory approvals and expands a long-running intellectual-property relationship between the two firms.

4. Schneider Electric agreed to acquire PTC in an all-cash deal. The offer values the software company’s equity at about $22.6 billion and implies a premium to the prior close. The acquisition adds a major industrial software asset to Schneider Electric’s portfolio and helps explain the sharp move in the shares.

5. The U.S. government is facing higher borrowing costs as Treasury yields stay elevated. Reuters reported that long-term yields remain near multi-decade highs while Washington continues to issue large amounts of debt to fund deficits. The article said policymakers have limited tools to push back, and some options could risk adding to inflation pressures.

6. Vistra received support for a large financing package tied to its nuclear power expansion. A person familiar with the matter said the U.S. will lend the company about $4.2 billion to boost its nuclear generation capacity. The news gave the stock a strong pre-bell lift and reinforced investor focus on power supply and data-center electricity demand.

7. Japan’s Nikkei-linked chip chain drew attention after TSMC-related cooperation talk surfaced. Elon Musk said there were only discussions about possible cooperation between TSMC and his chip project, but the remarks still pushed the foundry higher before the open. The development also weighed on Intel, which had been expected by some investors to retain a larger role in the project.

8. Brazil-related stocks and ETFs rallied after the country’s presidential vote produced a runoff. Reuters and Tiger reports said Bolsonaro’s stronger-than-expected showing lifted local assets and related funds. The move reflected hopes that a business-friendly outcome could be more supportive for markets and the currency.

9. Federal Reserve minutes due later this week could offer clues on future rate moves. Dow Jones reported that the minutes will be watched for detail on how policymakers judged financial conditions after the latest rate increase. Investors are looking for clues on whether the central bank still sees room for additional tightening.

10. Fed borrowing-cost concerns and labor-market weakness remain key macro themes for markets. Reuters said policymakers are weighing the tradeoff between slowing growth and sticky inflation as the Treasury market struggles to find stability. That backdrop has kept bond volatility high and increased sensitivity to any new macroeconomic release.
