platform.

Regarding the launch date of pure Electric vehicles, several people familiar with Li Auto' recent fundraising roadshow told 36Kr that Li Auto revealed that in 2022, in addition to launching range-extended full-size SUVs as planned, pure Electric platform models have also been advanced. \"BEVs (Battery Electric Vehicles) are also planned to be launched as early as 2022 and go on sale in 2023. They will be equipped with technologies such as Ideal's ultra-fast charging and high-voltage platform.\"

Regarding the aforementioned information about the launch date of electric vehicles, Li Auto officially denied it to 36Kr, stating, \"The BEV project is undergoing preliminary research, and there is no confirmed launch date yet.\"

A source close to the Li Auto BEV project told 36Kr that, considering the long time required for car development and testing, the launch of Li Auto's first pure electric vehicle is likely to be much later than predicted above.

On December 2, before the US stock market opened, Li Auto issued an announcement stating that it plans to issue 47 million additional American Depositary Shares (ADSs), raising a net amount of approximately $1.602 billion. If the underwriters exercise their over-allotment option, Li Auto will raise up to approximately $1.8405 billion.

In its announcement, Li Auto divided the use of this huge financing into four parts:

1. Approximately 30% will be used for the research and development of next-generation electric vehicle technologies, including high-voltage platforms, high-charge-discharge rate batteries, and ultra-fast charging;

2. Approximately 20% will be used for the research and development of the next BEV (Battery Electric Vehicle) platform and future models;

3. Approximately 20% is used for the research and development of autonomous driving technologies and solutions;

4. The balance will be used for general company purposes.

36Kr learned from the secondary market that Li Auto' fundraising plan was unexpected. \"Having just IPOed at the end of July, I still have nearly 20 billion RMB in my account. This fundraising may trigger a new arms race.\" On July 31, Li Auto went public on Nasdaq, raising $1.473 billion. Just three months later, Li Auto has once again submitted a prospectus of more than 300 pages, planning to raise more than 12 billion yuan.

Li Auto announced that its director Wang Xing is interested in subscribing to $20 million in ADS in this share issuance, but this offer is not binding. The day after the announcement, the roadshow in Li Auto began.

Among the new car manufacturers that take pure electric technology as the mainstream route, Li Auto stands out by choosing a range-extended technology solution, which uses internal combustion engine range extenders to generate electricity for the electric motor, solving the range anxiety of electric vehicles while taking into account the electric driving experience.

During the third-quarter earnings call this year, Li Auto CEO Li Xiang clearly stated that pure electric vehicles will not be launched until the 400kW fast charging technology is mature. \"The application of range-extended technology in large SUVs and MPVs has an advantage of 5-10 years.\" Li Auto plans to launch a full-size SUV in 2022, which will continue the range-extended technology solution.

Li Xiang also stated that 400kW fast charging technology requires three conditions: a voltage platform of 800V or higher, a national standard of 500Ah super fast charging, and a battery with a charging rate of 4C or higher.

But now, Li Xiang clearly intends to shorten the distance between launching pure electric vehicles by developing them himself. An industry insider close to Li Xiang told 36Kr that Li Xiang may believe that pure electric vehicles will be more competitive in certain market segments in 2023 or 2024. \"His judgment logic is that the BEVs he launches must be able to outperform his own range extenders. If the plan is brought forward, it means that he is reassessing the development speed and ecosystem of electric vehicles.\"

Li Auto' range-extended technology solutions are gaining market recognition. From January to October 2020, Li Auto ONE delivered a total of 21,852 vehicles. In November, Li Auto delivered 4,646 vehicles in a single month, representing a month-on-month increase of 25.8%.

However, at the same time, adopting pure electric technologyTesla、NioandXPeng AutomotiveAnd sales are also steadily increasing. Nio has maintained deliveries of over 5,000 units for two consecutive months in October and November, while Tesla's monthly deliveries have remained above 10,000 units thanks to its domestically produced Model 3.

36Kr previously exclusively reported that Tesla's China factory plans to produce 550,000 units next year. After deducting the 110,000 units exported, more than 400,000 units will be sold in China. Meanwhile, Tesla's charging pile factory was also completed in Shanghai, with plans to produce 10,000 Supercharger piles with a charging power of 250kW next year, exceeding the total number of charging piles Tesla has built in China since entering the country. With high sales targets and supercharging facilities, Tesla will undoubtedly make a comprehensive penetration into China's new energy vehicle market.

Faced with a strong offensive from the pure electric camp, Li Xiang clearly adjusted his strategy in time. \"Li Auto is currently doing three major things at the same time: developing next-generation autonomous driving, developing next-generation range-extended technology platforms, and a new-generation BEV platform,\" a secondary market insider told 36Kr. He added that without the current 10 billion RMB, funds would indeed be tight.
