💰 QYLD: Turning Nasdaq Technology Stocks into Monthly Income
The Global X Nasdaq 100 Covered Call ETF (QYLD) is an interesting investment for investors who prefer regular cash flow rather than relying entirely on stock price appreciation.
QYLD invests in companies within the Nasdaq-100, giving investors exposure to major technology businesses such as Microsoft, Nvidia, Apple and Amazon. What makes QYLD different is its covered call strategy. The fund sells call options on the Nasdaq-100 to collect option premiums and distributes income to shareholders monthly.
💵 Why am I interested in QYLD?
I like the idea of receiving monthly distributions without having to manage individual options contracts myself. Instead of selling covered calls manually, QYLD handles the options strategy for me. As of 4 November 2026, its stated distribution rate was approximately 12.36%, with a 0.60% expense ratio.
⚠️ What are the risks?
A high distribution rate does not mean guaranteed returns. QYLD sacrifices some upside potential when the Nasdaq rises strongly because of its covered call strategy. Its distributions may also include return of capital, and its share price can decline during market corrections.
🎯 My strategy: I would consider QYLD as an income-generating component of a diversified portfolio, rather than my main growth investment. I want monthly cash flow, but I also want to protect my long-term capital.
