Easter and Qingming: A Time for Renewal, Remembrance & A Prayer for Peace

🌟🌟🌟This year, my Easter weekend comes with a dual meaning.  It sits right beside Qingming Festival and somehow these two ancient traditions feel like they were meant to meet.

In the morning, I will be heading to church, letting the Easter message of Hope, Renewal and Grace settle into my heart.  Easter is a poignant reminder that even in the darkest seasons, Light finds a way to return.

And in the spirit of Qingming, I will spend the day with my family - honouring our ancestors, remembering the people who shaped our lives and giving thanks for the roots that keep us grounded no matter where we are in the world.

Where better to blend these two than Gardens by the Bay?

A place where flowers bloom like tiny resurrections, where Super trees stand tall like guardians of memory and where my family will definitely take lots of photos just to find out whether everyone's eyes are open.

The theme for Gardens by the Bay is Spring featuring beautiful Sakura from Ishikawa Prefecture, Japan.

What Sakura means:

Sakura blossoms are delicate, fleeting and breathtaking.  It is a reminder that Life is precious, Time is short and Beauty often arrives in moments we must pause to notice and appreciate.

Sakura symbolises Renewal, Transience and the Quiet Strength of Starting Again.  This is the perfect bridge between Easter's resurrection and Qingming's remembrance.

Easter teaches us to rise.

Qingming teaches us to remember.

Together they remind us to live with Gratitude - for the past, present and the people we love.

In the quiet moments between celebration and reflection, I will be holding a simple prayer in my heart:

May Peace take root where conflict now stands.

May Wisdom guide leaders

May compassion soften hearts

May the Iran War find a peaceful resolution soon -

for the sake of families, futures and the fragile hope our world still carries.

This weekend, I am choosing Renewal, Remembrance and Hope - all under the Singapore sky, surrounded by my loved ones.

To All My Dear Tiger Friends:

May your Easter - Qingming weekend be filled with Peace, Love and Joy.
