Greenland Investment Theme - current developments suggest a win win for listed Greenland natural resource companies !
Greenland is rich in resources, many of them strategic minerals used for military purposes, where the USA and western counties are uncomfortably reliant on China. Likewise, it has an established mining code, a small population minimising NIMBY (not in my backyard!) objections. But investor rejection of 'dirty" industries has thus far restricted capital flows to develop such resources and needed infrastructure, as there is insufficient capital to fund all opportunities, meaning those investors able to invest in listed mining development companies are hesitant to take the risk on a new jurisdiction, with ample equally attractive investment options in well established mining jurisdictions such as USA, Canada, Australia etc.
However, the current situation changes this, as should Greenland either be taken over, sold or just have a win win agreement, whereby the much needed resources to the US military -industrial complex are provided in long term offtake agreements, capital is now likely to flow to these companies, many of whom lacked the financing to develop their assets.
This could be from fresh equity raises, perhaps grants and subsidies from Europe and/or the USA or M&A by larger mining companies looking for new growth drivers.
Lastly, this minerals may perform well in escalating tensions elsewhere in the world persist such as Middle East or East Asia.
I recommend buying a basket of appealing names to play this theme and will write indidual reports on each one, those names tradeable on Tiger are tagged !
