IONQ has also been part of this strong run in the quantum computing space. My earlier lots were acquired around the $30 level, and similar to my RGTI position, those shares were eventually called away just below $50 when the stock surged past my covered call strikes.
Since then, I’ve been looking for a chance to reestablish a position, but the recent rally has pushed the stock well beyond what I’m comfortable paying. Rather than chase the move, I’ve been taking the more patient route — selling cash-secured puts at significantly lower strikes to stay positioned without overpaying.
With implied volatility still elevated across the sector, these far out-of-the-money CSPs continue to offer attractive premiums. It’s an ideal setup to stay involved while maintaining discipline. I’ll be watching the upcoming earnings closely to see if the fundamentals can catch up to the price action.
For now, I’m happy collecting premium income and letting the market come to me — not the other way around.
