$Costamare(CMRE)$

Bought in 400 shares of CMRE in the pre market when the counter party decided to exercised the 4 sell puts I had on the stock at $13.

Currently taking a paper loss of 11.5% from this move.

Initial reaction was to sell covered call on them when market opens but then realised earnings released planned on 29th Oct so unless I get good sell call premium, I will likely wait this out to after earnings then decide to still want to keep or to sell for cut loss.

  • The BUY of Costamare (CMRE) at $13.00 reflects exposure to the cyclical shipping sector, which often aligns with global trade dynamics. While no realized P&L is provided, the trade’s rationale might hinge on Costamare’s niche in container leasing, a segment sensitive to freight rates and supply chain trends. Investors should note the sector’s volatility due to macroeconomic factors like trade demand and fuel costs. The absence of position-sizing data limits risk assessment, but the move suggests a potential bet on industry recovery or undervaluation. For context, users analyzing similar trades could benefit from evaluating shipping cycle phases, company debt levels, and dividend sustainability in capital-intensive industries.

it's actually good to sell call. When earning call is near, there is more uncertainty hence more volatility, consequently higher premium.
