10-MA Sell Rule Can Extend Holds Up to 5 Months
Portfolio Update (Educational Thread Part 5) - Don’t second guess your partial profit-taking or your eventual exit. A 10-MA sell rule can sit you as long as 5 months.
$GRANITESHARES 2X LONG BABA DAILY ETF(BABX)$ have now exceeded +100% in a calendar month. $Direxion Daily Small Cap Bull 3x Shares(TNA)$ (41 days), $Gold - main 2512(GCmain)$ (35 days) are also notable standout on holding period.
All of this decision to hold are non discretionary, and dictated by a simple 'first closed below 10-MA, 2nd ORL' sell rule to hold them. A short term 10-MA can swing your position for as long as 5 months (refer to my $Roundhill Magnificent Seven ETF(MAGS)$ trade this year from 7th April entry), so I don't buy the notion that you need a longer duration MA in order to hold and build a trade into positional style trade.
It's about execution and getting in names at the most optimal period (situational awareness plays a big part here).
