On Saturday, I had the privilege of participating as both speaker and REIT specialist at the recent Active Trader Fair at SGX, organised by InvestingNote and ShareInvestor, and supported by SGX Group, Tiger Brokers Singapore, and InvestSG. The event drew a full house and showcased the strong enthusiasm within Singapore’s trading and investing community, with conversations and networking in full swing from the outset.

The atmosphere was energetic—attendees engaged actively, exploring new strategies and sharing observations. Alongside fellow presenters Joey Choy and Dan Chang, we exchanged experiences and debated the current market landscape, adding practical perspectives and lessons learned from actual trading journeys.

During my segment, I focused on the key question: Where are the trading opportunities in Singapore REITs today?

• To start, I highlighted my approach: screen for REITs with strong fundamentals—a foundation for resilience and sustainable performance.

• Next, I discussed how technical analysis serves as a complementary tool, enabling strategic timing for entries and exits to maximise return potential.

• I then introduced four thematic plays currently shaping the S-REIT sector:

• Dividend Play: Pursuing reliable yield

• Alpha Play: Targeting sectors with upside catalysts

• Turnaround Play: Identifying REITs with recovery prospects

• Speculative Play: Riding volatility for short-term trades

The audience showed particular interest when I shared an example of a REIT in a clear uptrend at the SGX IPO Arena. Many started analyzing charts on their phones, eager to crack which REIT I was referring to—a valuable reminder that active participation and communal learning drive progress for all market participants.
