When Will PLTR Stopped Sliding ?
@JC888:
US market continued to close lower on Wed, 20 Aug 2025. According to Dow Jones Market Data, although S&P 500 index fell for a 4th straight day, it ended Wednesday just -1.1% below its last week’s record closing high on Thu, 14 Aug 2025. By the time mid-week trading was over: (see above) DJIA: +0.04% (+16.04 to 44,938.31). S&P 500: -0.24% (-15.59 to 6,395.78). Nasdaq: -0.67% (-142.095 to 21,172.857). US market continual dip on Wednesday, was largely attributed to: Pressured by a broad decline in tech sector. The Fed’s July 2025 meeting minutes. (1) Tech sell off. Investors continued to take profits on several heavyweight technology and semiconductor stocks over: Concerns about their high valuations. “Real” strength of AI trade over longer term. As a result, the followings happened: NVDA ended the session marginally lower by -0.14% at $175.40. AMD and AVGO each lost around -1.0%. PLTR declined about -1%., and INTC dropped about 7%. Mega-cap Magnificent 7 companies like AAPL, AMZN, GOOG & META also fell between - 0.5% to -1.97%. FOMC July 2025 Min. of Meeting. Wednesday also saw the release of FOMC’s 2025 Jul 29-30 minutes of meeting. Documented minutes showed that central bankers expressed concerns about (a) the state of US labour market and (b) inflation, with most of FOMC voting members agreeing that it was too soon to lower interest rates. Policymakers once more held steady on interest rates (in July 2025), except for Trump’s appointed cronies Fed Governors Christopher Waller & Michelle Bowman who dissented, marking the first time 2 voting Fed officials have done so since 1993. FOMC minutes revealed that most members were worried about (1) inflation rising up too much and (2) jobs situation worsing, with majority felt that “risk of inflation rising” was the bigger issue, while a few thought “risk to jobs” was more salient. CME Fedwatch tool (latest). As of Thu, 21 Aug 2025 - the CME Fedwatch tool is still pricing a more than 80% likelihood of FOMC’s -0.25% interest cut come September 2025. (see above) With that, all eyes will be on Fed chair Jerome Powell’s speech at Jackson Hole on Fri, 22 Aug 2025. As shared by BMO Private Wealth, Chief market strategist, Carol Schleif: If Powell’s language is more hawkish in tone, it could put more pressure on tech stocks because higher interest rates are challenges for the tech sector. Tech Stock Crash. One of the more notable Tech stocks that has slid the most is $Palantir Technologies Inc.(PLTR)$. Over 6 days of heavy selling, PLTR has lost about -16.56% on its stock price. (see above) On Tue, 12 Aug 2025, PLTR closed at $186.97 per share. As of Wed, 20 Aug 2025, it closed at $156.01; lower by -$30.96. The slide marks the longest such streak for the AI software company since April 2024. Wednesday’s decline also dropped PLTR out of the 20 most valuable US companies ranking, where it achieved that milestone only in July 2025. Pity ! PLTR’s dramatic fall comes not only on a broader market sell-off but also of a scathing report from Andrew Left’s Citron Research. The short seller called PLTR - detached from fundamentals and analysis. He said that PLTR shares should be priced at $40 if compared to same price-to-revenue multiple in OpenAI recent $500 billion valuation. Left also wrote that - Karp and his team have done a great job. But investors need to be careful. Compared to real AI leaders, Palantir’s price already shows success that goes beyond its actual business results. About Citron Research. If you have done your homework, you would have known that Citron Research has a mixed reputation for credibility. Historically, it had published influential and accurate reports exposing fraud and problems in companies like Valeant Pharmaceuticals, leading to significant stock declines. However, it has also faced criticism for reports that were overly aggressive or inaccurate. Example, with Shopify, where the company’s claims were challenged. Citron Research and its founder Andrew Left have also been accused by US regulators of deceptive practices related to stock recommendations and market manipulation, although these are allegations and the legal process is ongoing. Despite PLTR’s stock price falling -$30, its forward price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio of 193 times means PLTR shares are still expensive, when compared to megacap peers. To this, I have mentioned several times in the past that PLTR, cannot be assessed based off technical analysis per se. In doing so investors will missed the bigger picture and PLTR’s bigger potentials and that’s where its value lies. Now might just be the “right” time to jam one’s foot in the door and get a slice of PLTR before market sentiments turn “positive” and PLTR rises once again. Remember to check out my other posts.
