The S&P 500 Index climbed 1.64% as all 11 sectors advanced. The tech-heavy Nasdaq 100 gained 2%.The Fed chair, in much-anticipated remarks in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, cited labor-market risks even amid worries over inflation against a backdrop of rising tariff rates. In response, traders quickly added to wagers the central bank would ease policy as soon as its September meeting, and cut further by year-end.“Powell’s dovish Jackson Hole comments suggest the Federal Reserve is ready to cut interest rates in September, which is just what investors were hoping to hear, given the recent slowdown in the labor market,” said David Laut, chief investment officer at Abound Financial.The riskier parts of the stock market were particularly strong. A Goldman Sachs Group Inc. gauge of stocks with the highest short interest rose 4.2%, while an index of profitless companies gained 2.5%.
