OptionsPuppy's Short-Term Trading Strategy & Experience in 19 Questions

1. Scenarios for Short-Term Trading

I focus on sharp price movements by bottom-fishing on dips (e.g., a 7% drop in $Palantir Technologies Inc.(PLTR)$ ), entering on bullish reversal patterns such as a Bullish Engulfing candle, using weekly options on stocks with strong earnings like PLTR, and selling daily puts on ETFs like IWM during uptrends, and taking advantage of price volatility to reposition between puts and calls.

2. Swing Trading Frequency ⏱⏱

Mostly trade on a daily or weekly basis, particularly when promotions offer rewards, such as free coins, for frequent options trading.

3. Recent Concepts You Traded:

I trade around strong themes such as the AI sector (e.g., PLTR, where momentum is driven by growing demand for artificial intelligence solutions) and energy plays (e.g., $Vistra Energy Corp.(VST)$ and $Oklo Inc.(OKLO)$ , which reflect the shift toward sustainable and innovative energy sources), concentrating on narratives with clear catalysts, particularly in advanced technology and clean energy, where market sentiment and long-term potential align.

4. Instruments for Use

Primarily, options (both calls and puts) and ETFs for directional strategies. I often sell in-the-money calls on PLTR, and then reposition when the stock experiences a pullback.

5. How You Screen Swing Trade Targets

Focusing on stocks with strong or positive earnings, look for recovery potential after pullbacks, and prefer familiar or well-known names that give me an edge in timing and confidence.

6. Entry & Exit Indicators

For indicator-wise, I use Parabolic SAR and VWAP to identify trend signals, and I watch volume spikes to confirm strength. When these indicators align with key price zones, I act.

7. Left-Side vs Right-Side Trading ??

I do both, but prefer left-side trading (buying into weakness) as it’s lower risk with greater upside when a reversal happens.

8. Fast Trade Execution

I act quickly when I spot reversal patterns or sudden drops in high-IV stocks like PLTR, where speed is crucial to securing the best premiums or entry points.

9. Quantitative Indicators to Share ??

For quantitative indicators, I rely on VWAP, moving averages, and Parabolic SAR, which help me identify trend continuations or potential reversals.

10. AI Tools for Edge ??

Tiger AI and ChatGPT to identify support and resistance levels for the next three days. These tools help confirm my analysis and provide an additional edge in decision-making.

11. Tiger Brokers Tools ??

Yes, I use Movers and Bull List to spot opportunities and strong momentum.

12.Way to Identifying Trading Opportunities ??

During earnings season, I watch for earnings beats, which often cause implied volatility to spike. I then sell puts and lower calls to capture rich premiums while protecting myself from being assigned at excessively high prices.

13. Your Favorite Industries ??

My favorite industries would be AI, with stocks like $Palantir Technologies Inc.(PLTR)$ and $Alphabet(GOOGL)$ ; energy, including $Vistra Energy Corp.(VST)$ and $Oklo Inc.(OKLO)$ ; and ETFs such as $SPDR Portfolio S&P 500 Growth ETF(SPYG)$ and $Invesco NASDAQ 100 ETF(QQQM)$ , which help me capture broader market trends.

14. Familiar Stocks vs. New Picks ??

I mostly stick to familiar names, especially PLTR, as I know the technical and fundamental behavior well.

15. What’s your Best Swing Trade ??

$Palantir Technologies Inc.(PLTR)$ trades consistently earn me $200–$400 per round. I’ve done this multiple times through strategic option selling and buybacks.

16. Can your Style Be Learned? ??

Yes! Start with capital management, pre-plan your trades, and read books. You can follow my trading logic to understand how I build positions. Practice and journal your trades.

17. Any Key Risk Control Tips ??

Always manage my margin carefully, set clear-cut loss plans, and avoid emotional trades—discipline is key to long-term success.

18. How do you use a Cash Boost Account to enlarge your money-making path in trading.

I like the 20K SGD limit authorized by Cashboost account, which of course can be increased based on personal circumstances. For trading U.S. stocks and IPOs, the interest-free periods are 5 and 6 days, respectively. I prefer buying bank stocks at slightly lower prices, such as OCBC. With 20K, I can buy 1,000 shares; after deducting a cost of 40 SGD, even a small difference of 0.20 SGD per share can yield a decent profit. The CBA account gives me access to a larger amount of interest-free funds.

Recently, there’s good news for new CBA users: 60 days of commission-free trading, which is ideal for boosting stock purchasing power after short-term pullbacks.

19.Any Advice to Other Traders ??

Learn risk management, especially when using margin. Focus on probability, not perfection. Build habits and develop a repeatable system.

🧘Open a CBA today and enjoy access to a trading limit of up to SGD 20,000 with upcoming 0-commission, unlimited trading on SG, HK, and US stocks, as well as ETFs.
