$Coinbase Global, Inc.(COIN)$ $CME Bitcoin - main 2508(BTCmain)$ 🧠📉⚖️ Coinbase Pullback Before Earnings: Smart Profit-Taking or Setup for the Next Surge? ⚖️📉🧠
I’m intrigued by the divergence unfolding in $COIN. After rallying from the April breakout low of $142.58 to a high of $444.64, it’s now pulled back to $375.25 ahead of Q2 earnings on 31Jul. That six-day losing streak, now totaling a 9.5% drawdown, feels less like panic and more like controlled distribution.
Data always shows the path before price confirms it. I’m staying adaptive. COIN is now back under T3 on the weekly, re-testing supportive zones while recalibrating RSI (67.03) and MACD strength. On the daily, the 20EMA is finally being touched for the first time since that April–May surge. That’s often where disciplined buyers re-engage.
What’s fascinating is the conflicting positioning. JPMorgan just raised their price target to $404, while Monness Crespi’s Gus Gala downgraded COIN to Neutral, citing the stock has run too far, too fast: surging nearly 90% since his May upgrade versus just 14% for Bitcoin. The correlation to BTC has even slipped from 0.89 to 0.80. Gala is watching for volume confirmation before re-entering at a better multiple.
Here’s the kicker: COIN has declined the day after earnings in 5 consecutive quarters, with an average drop of 6.6%. Analysts expect $1.33 EPS (+850% YoY), $1.6B in revenue (+10.4%), and $238.6B in trading volume (+5.6%). Lofty? Maybe. But with the Genius Act now law, regulatory clarity around stablecoins could reinforce institutional confidence.
I’m pragmatic, not fearful. Smart money is hedging through elevated put flow, but there’s still $1.5M in call premium targeting $407.5 this week. If the market views this retrace as exhaustion, we could see a rapid reversion higher post-earnings. If not, my Plan B is waiting near $350 or even $275, where Gala himself is keen to re-engage.
Are you de-risking ahead of earnings, or do you see this as a setup to scale in?

- Cool Cat Winston·2025-07-29TOPThis is exactly why I’ve stayed patient on $COIN. That stat about five straight earnings-day fades is wild. I’m leaning toward post-earnings re-entry too, especially if we get anything near that $350 zone you mentioned.4Report
- Kiwi Tigress·2025-07-29TOPThat dip from $444 hit harder than I thought, but I lowkey think the market’s just resetting vibes before earnings. Could get spicy if it snaps back.2Report
- Queengirlypops·2025-07-29TOPCOIN’s been a beast but six red days and options still hot? That’s sus in a good way. Watching how this plays out right after the 31st. Still my fav3Report
