Deporting Elon Musk? Tesla's Drama Dips The Stock - Is It A Buy or a Bye?
πππJust when you thought that 2025 could not get any weirder, President Trump floated the idea of deporting Elon Musk. Yes it is that Elon - the one who has been a US citizen since 2002 and builds rockets, robots and the world's best selling EVs. The comment by Trump sent Tesla stock sliding over 5% to a 3 week low.
So is this political theatre or a real threat to Tesla's future? More importantly, should investors treat this as a red flag or a red hot buying opportunity?
The Drama
Donald Trump, irked by Elon Musk's criticism of his "Big Beautiful Bill" said he would have to take a look at deporting Musk.
Elon Musk, who led DOGE for 130 days, said on X, daring Trump to "cut it all". He was referring to federal subsidies.
Tesla stock dropped to USD 300, as investors worried about the feud and fears of subsidy cuts.
The Fundamentals
Despite the political noise, Tesla's long term thesis has not changed.
Robotaxi pilot was launched in Austin Texas with volume production of Cybercab slated for 2026.
Lower cost EV models are in the pipeline, potentially revitalising sales and improving margins.
Tesla Energy is the quiet giant. Energy storage revenue hit USD 2. 7 billion in Q1 25, up 67% year over year.
Gross Profit from energy was USD 403 million in Q1, with margins outpacing the auto division.
Morgan Stanley values Tesla Energy at USD 130 billion, citing its role in stabilising the grid amid the AI boom.
Tesla Bots - From Sci Fi to Factory Floor
Optimus Gen 3 is now operating in Tesla factories. Tasks include sorting, lifting and even cooking (yes, it poached an egg on video)
Elon Musk plans to scale to 100,000 bots by 2026 with public rollout expected in 2027.
Tesla bots are learning via neural networks and real world observation - think ChatGPT with legs.
Concluding Thoughts
Trump maybe threatening to "put DOGE on Elon" but unless DOGE has a rocket to Mars, Musk isn't going anywhere. The feud is real, the headlines are spicy but the fundamentals? Still electric.
With Tesla Energy quietly becoming a profit engine and Optimus bots stepping into the real world, Tesla is evolving far beyond cars. This isn't just an EV company. Tesla is a vertically integrated AI, robotics and energy powerhouse.
Buy or Bye?
For long term believers in autonomy, AI and Elon Musk's moonshot vision, Tesla is a Buy. Just don't expect a smooth ride. Tesla stock comes with more plot twists than ever.
