shortage of chips started from the beginning of automotive chips, represented by MCUs (micro-control chips), to semiconductor equipment and even second-hand equipment, to the shortage of upstream substrate materials, and finally now wafer foundries have begun to publicly adjust prices. The tide of shortages and price increases in the entire industry chain is \"one link after another\". \"Supply is extremely tight, shortages have become the new normal, and we often hear news of delayed equipment delivery.\" \"Quotations are quoted on a monthly basis, the median price of 20 MCUs has increased by 12%, and the panel has increased by 100%.\" These are all from the mouths of CEOs of semiconductor manufacturers and industry professional analysts.

1. Out of stock: to what extent?

TSMCChairman Liu Deyin previously summarized three reasons for the global shortage of chips: First, the connection of the industrial chain caused by the epidemic is not smooth; Second, changes in market share and policy uncertainty caused by Sino-US trade disputes; Third, the epidemic has accelerated digital transformation. So to what extent has the core shortage reached? Let's take a look at what major semiconductor manufacturers have to say.

InfineonCEO Reinhard Ploss said on Tuesday that \"as the latest wave of epidemic impact disrupts production in Asia,Inventories hit record lows, the market currently faces an extremely tight supply situation, and our chips are being shipped directly from our fabs to end applications。\"Some time agoInfineonIn addition to the Malaysian factory being affected by the epidemic, Infineon is also dealing with the impact of a winter storm that previously paralyzed its chip manufacturing plant in Austin, Texas. While its new factory for power management chips in Villach, Austria, is coming into production, it is also dependent on foundries in Asia, which are running out of capacity.

The Ifo economic research group confirmed the grim situation on Tuesday, with Germany's auto industry and its suppliers facing its worst chip supply shortage in 30 years. A poll showed 83% of companies were affected, up from 65% in April.

$AMD (AMD) $CEO Lisa Su said she expects AMD's chip supply to\"Tight\" for the rest of the year but expected to ease in 2022。 She commented on possible problems, such as parts shortages, but did not specify whether it was AMD's parts shortage or some other component that would limit PC supply. \"We are still on track to launch next-generation products in 2022, including Zen 4 processors and RDNA 3 GPUs manufactured with industry-leading 5nm process technology,\" Su added.

STMicroelectronicsCEO Chery said last Thursday that the global chip shortage will continue into the first half of 2023.The ST will only meet 70% of total customer demand this year。 He added that it will rise to 85%-90% next year as companies invest in capacity.

AppleCEO Tim Cook warned that chip supply constraints could affect iPhone production in the next quarter. Lu Weibing, President of Xiaomi China, is personallyWeiboWith emotion, \"This year's chips are out of stock, not a shortage, but an extreme shortage.\"

\"Overall, we think the chip shortage will continue until at least the middle of next year,\" said Gartner analyst Samuel Wang.

UMCWalter Ng, deputy sales representative, said, \"We are seeing unprecedented demand for many applications and all nodes, and as this cycle lasts longer, we believeThis could become the new normal.”

\"Strong investment in logic and foundry, driven by investment in 5G mobile and data center, is also accelerating investment in memory,\" said Toshiki Kawai, president and CEO of Tokyo Electronics.

Paul Ryan, vice president and general manager of Bruker Semiconductor's X-ray division, said: \"Process technology chips are also booming in mature processes. We see opportunities in the radio frequency field. Most foundries in these fields use 40nm and above, especially the launch of 5G, just to meet the demand for standard components, there is a huge quantity demand.\"

Not only chips, but also shortages of semiconductor equipment have never stopped this year, and delivery delays have become the norm.According to a report by Nikkan Kogyo Shimbun on July 30, an executive from a large chip factory said,\"In the past 1 to 2 months, I have often heard the news about the delay of equipment delivery time\"Although it is impossible to determine what kind of parts are in short supply, the delivery time has been extended from the original one year for half a year to one and a half years. The executive pointed out: \"In the future, we must evaluate the factors of delivery extension to formulate a factory production increase plan. According to reports, Advantest's semiconductor test equipment has also been delayed. The delivery time of this test equipment usually takes 3-4 months, but now it has been extended to about 6 months.

Wilbert Odisho, vice president and general manager of KLA, said, \"We are seeing that the utilization rate of 300mm equipment at mature nodes has reached an all-time high level. Equipment manufacturers in China, North America, Europe and Japan are particularly active in increasing capacity.\" The utilization rate of 200mm equipment is very high. Equipment manufacturers are building new 200mm fabs and expanding the capacity of existing fabs. \"

The shortage of materials cannot be ignored either.IntelCEO Pat Gelsinger noted during the earnings call that the industry-wide shortage could persist into 2023 and expected \"it will take another one to two years before the industry fully meets demand.\" The company also called \"a substrate shortage that is causing an industry-wide persistence,\" meaningIntelIt is not expected to get enough raw materials needed to make the chips. Despite the high demand for its processor. This could lead to an \"particularly severe\" shortage of Intel's consumer chips in the upcoming third quarter.

Tian Fangming, president of Adwan Semiconductor Testing Equipment Company, said,Now there is a shortage of materials that has never been seen before。 For example, it is heard that the shortage of substrates (used in semiconductor production) cannot be lifted within 2-3 years. According to another Nikkei report, Japanese metal processing intermediary Caddi conducted a survey of 32 chip manufacturing equipment manufacturers participating in the Caddi seminar and learned that about 60% of them had faced the problem of insufficient supply of parts in the past year.

Renesas CEO Hidetoshi Shibata expects automakers to reduce production this year and try to make up for it next year, resulting in demand for chips continuing into next year, and supply and demand conditions may not start to ease until the middle of next year. On March 19 this year, a fire broke out at Renesas' flagship factory in Naka, Ibaraki Prefecture, north of Tokyo, and production resumed on April 17. Renesas is involved in the front-end and back-end of chip production. Production at the front end is now \"1.7 times its pre-fire level,\" Shibata said. But there is a shortage of materials for back-end processes, such asResin and Substrate, so concerns about production are also mainly focused on the back end.

2. Price increase: How much has it increased?

In the wave of chip price increases, MCU has the most fierce rise. Since the middle of last year, according to Supplyframe Inc., a company that tracks distributor prices,The median price of the 20 best-selling microcontrollers rose by more than 12%.

STMicroelectronicsCEO Chery said,The average price of STMicroelectronics' chips in 2021 is 5% higher than a year ago.It added that the group expects further price increases in the second half of 2021 and 2022.

Semico's Feldhan said: \"The shortage of MCUs continues. The demand for MCUs has begun to increase since the second half of 2020. Since then, the average sales price of MCUs has increased every quarter. Even older 4-bit MCUs are needed. Although 4-bit MCUs only account for less than 1% of total sales, in the first five months of 2021,Sales of 4-bit MCUs increased by more than 400% compared to 2020.”

Jia Yixing, general manager of MCU manufacturer Lingtong, said that the current situation is so serious that the unit price of products has not happened in the past\"Quotation pattern in months\".Even when wafer foundry, packaging and testing production capacity is tight, the order momentum will remain greater than one in the second half of the year, and it may appear until next year. Lingtong said that it will work with its parent company Sunplus Group to strive for maximum production capacity.

But Linn Huang, an analyst in charge of personal computers at IDC, said: \"The number one component in short supply is not the MCU, but the component that goes into the panel, the driver IC.\" Any device with an LCD panel, including a TV, mobile phone or tablet, but mainly laptops, requires a chip with an LCD driver that tells the panel which pixel is lit or not. Hewlett-Packard CEO Enrique Lores also confirmed that LCD driver IC is the biggest component restricting the company.\"In the case of TV panels, prices have risen 100%, prices have doubled in the last 12 months, the pandemic has seriously distorted the entire demand picture, but people will still buy regardless of the price.\"Said Bob O 'Brien, co-founder and CFO of DSCC (Display Supply Chain Consultants).

In addition to the chip, nowWafer foundries are also experiencing a wave of price increases。SamsungIt is the first wafer foundry to indicate that it will raise prices. Their price increase is mainly used to fund the expansion of its S5 wafer fab near Pyeongtaek, South Korea.SamsungThe foundry's S5 Line is the company's most advanced production facility, mainly producing 5nm, 4nm and thinner production technology processing wafers. Since the fab uses EUV lithography technology, the expansion cost is very high. Samsung's price adjustment is also hoped that customers can share part of their expenses. However, rising foundry prices may affect the cost of GPUs, SoCs and controllers produced by Samsung foundries.

According to a survey in the United States, as the manufacturing process becomes more and more advanced, semiconductor equipment is becoming more and more expensive. It will cost US $12 billion to invest in a wafer fab with a production capacity of 50,000 wafers in a 5-nanometer process and US $20 billion in a 3-nanometer process. The expenditure increased by 66%. It is estimated that semiconductor capital expenditure between 2020 and 2030 will be more than three times that of the past 10 years (2010-2020), and the capital expenditure from 2030 to 2040 will be more than 4 to 5 times that of 2020 to 2030. Under such circumstances, there is nothing wrong with fab price increases.

If Samsung is preparing for the expansion of its advanced process factories, then there are also wafer foundries that have increased prices due to insufficient mature process production capacity.UMCIs one of them. IC designers revealed that UMC raised its average unit price (ASP) growth forecast for this year for the second time at the recent legal conference, highlighting that the increase in mature process foundry quotations is more fierce than expected. UMC also released the news that it will receive orders next year. The information revealed that the current supply of mature process foundry capacity is in short supply. In response to the price increase trend of foundries, chips produced using mature processes will also follow suit, creating this phenomenon of rising quotations in the industrial chain.

In fact, since 2021, the quotations for wafer foundry and packaging and testing production capacity have begun to show an upward trend, and the supply of packaging materials is also tight simultaneously. Therefore, as everyone knew some time ago, production capacity is based on price bidding. This is a small amount of production capacity released by wafer foundries and packaging and testing factories every month for some urgent customers. This is also the reason why the OEM quotation of each customer is different now.

3. Write at the end

In this round of shortages and price increases, some manufacturers took advantage of this \"loophole\" to maliciously drive up the price of speculated chips. On August 3, the State Administration for Market Regulation issued a document \"Find it out! The State Administration for Market Regulation launched an investigation into automotive chip distribution companies suspected of price gouging.\" In response to outstanding problems such as hype and high prices in the automotive chip market, the State Administration for Market Regulation recently launched an investigation into automotive chip distribution companies suspected of price gouging based on price monitoring and reporting clues.

In the next step, the State Administration for Market Regulation will continue to pay attention to the market price order of important commodities such as chips, further strengthen supervision and law enforcement, and severely investigate and deal with illegal activities such as hoarding, price gouging, and collusion in price increases.

According to a previous report by the Wall Street Journal, ADI CEO Vincent Roach said: \"We are not using this cycle to do anything about pricing other than that we pay more for the additional supply that we have to add. ,"news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"AMD":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":2190,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":890032502,"gmtCreate":1628065498706,"gmtModify":1703500557870,"author":{"id":"3583541700741630","authorId":"3583541700741630","name":"Weeweess","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/242477c20840a38ec5dad0ad105d50be","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3583541700741630","idStr":"3583541700741630"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Good","listText":"Good","text":"Good","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/890032502","repostId":"2156355172","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":1263,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":806747062,"gmtCreate":1627696693356,"gmtModify":1703494825029,"author":{"id":"3583541700741630","authorId":"3583541700741630","name":"Weeweess","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/242477c20840a38ec5dad0ad105d50be","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3583541700741630","idStr":"3583541700741630"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Yes The tug of war between growth and value that has continued throughout the year shows no signs of disappearing.

Earlier this year, there was a lot on Wall Street that Jackson Hole could be the time and place for the Federal Reserve to announce its long-awaited tapering of its stimulus plan. That doesn't have to be the case now: U.S. bond yields have fallen steadily since the end of March, seemingly giving the Fed more room to maneuver in order to maintain its $120 billion monthly bond purchase program. It's a tactic the Fed uses to inject liquidity and keep interest rates low, and it seems to have worked.

In the first quarter of this year, the U.S. economy grew by more than 6%, and the yield on the 10-year U.S. Treasury Bond was close to 1.3% by the end of July. This is a surprisingly low yield given economic growth and high inflation month after month.

Both President Powell and President Biden said in late July that the current high inflation would not last. To be sure, most in the market will be paying close attention to July consumer and producer prices due in August, as well as the July jobs report. Job growth rebounded in June after months of weakness. The focus is likely now turning more to wage growth: if employers have to start raising wages significantly to attract workers, that could also raise inflation concerns.

By the time the Jackson Hole meeting approaches, investors may have a better sense of whether the Fed is ready to act, or at least predict stimulus from the Federal Reserve. Some economists point to the Fed's continued purchase of mortgage-backed securities, which is providing unnecessary ammunition to an already overheated housing market.

US stock volatility attracts attention

August may be a time to give investors a breather. The Federal Reserve is the focus as always, but factors such as corporate earnings reports and market volatility cannot be ignored.

August usually brings a slowdown in U.S. stock trading, especially in the middle of the month, because nearly half of companies have reported earnings during this period. However, at least from a historical perspective, there are still some weak seasonal trends in the stock market going into September. Obviously, this is different from the initial launch of BaiduApolloThe goal at the time of planning has made a 180-degree U-turn.

So, can Baidu, which no longer emphasizes the output of driverless technology, still tell the story of AI well?

Automotive Strategic Turn

On the track of driverless driving, Baidu is the first to start.

As early as 2013, Baidu launched an autonomous vehicle project internally. After four years of polishing, it officially launched the Apollo system in April 2017, committed to building an \"Android system in the field of autonomous driving\", with the goal of providing an open, complete and safe software platform to the automotive industry and autonomous driving. Partners in the field help them quickly build their own complete autonomous driving system by combining vehicles and hardware systems.

So far, Baidu's unmanned vehicle project has been launched for nearly eight years, with a cumulative investment of tens of billions to participate in Baidu's \"ApolloThe plan includes more than ten car manufacturers such as Dalem Benz, Toyota, Honda, Volkswagen, BMW, and BYTON, as well as other scientific research institutions, Internet companies, operators, etc. The Apollo program has become a huge alliance in the industry with strong appeal.

Baidu has unparalleled advantages over other manufacturers in autonomous driving, such as AI technology reserves and Baidu maps. Technically, Baidu has all-round technologies such as cloud storage and high-precision maps, and AI is Baidu's inherent advantage. At the same time, Baidu Maps has a strong user base. From the perspective of autonomous driving collection capabilities and qualifications, Baidu is also in a leading position in the industry.

However, with the rise of new car-making forces and the entry of technology companies such as Huawei, Xiaomi, and 360, the presence of the Apollo program, which has a first-mover advantage, is getting weaker and weaker. In fact, as of now, no car company's mass-produced products have been equipped with Baidu's autonomous driving system on a large scale.

What is the reason? It is generally believed in the industry that the L4 level target positioning of the Apollo program is too high and it is difficult to achieve commercialization, which is the main reason why its progress encounters obstacles.

\"The number of software codes in cars is greater thansmartMobile phones are about 10 times higher, autonomous driving technology is much more complicated than electric technology, and commercialization is far more difficult than electric vehicles. \" An automotive industry analyst said that the autonomous driving industry is a field that burns money and time-consumes. To achieve commercialization, more technology precipitation and a more suitable business model are needed.

Many users who have tried Baidu unmanned vehicles said that Baidu unmanned vehicles have some problems, such as large turning and bypass radius, slow average speed, difficulty in overtaking during driving, and having to get on the bus at a designated place when taking a taxi. Although these problems are not fatal injuries, for passengers, the driving experience is not friendly, and it may take more time to truly replace traditional cars.

From the current marketTesla, XPeng,NioJudging from the sales volume of new car-making forces, the way to realize autonomous driving more recognized by the outside world is first L2 and L3 levels of assisted autonomous driving, and secondly, it is possible to gradually transition to L4 level.

Of course, consumers' experience of usage is only one aspect, and the resistance from laws and regulations is more direct. Due to the current laws and regulations' restrictions on the road permission of fully self-driving cars, L4 self-driving can only be driven in closed and limited specific scenarios, and users' interest in choosing an L4 self-driving car is therefore weakened. When Li Yanhong got on a self-driving car and broadcast live on the Fourth Ring Road in Beijing, he was interviewed by the traffic control department.

To this end, Baidu Autopilot has to give priority to meeting the regulatory requirements of different local governments, which also makes Baidu Autopilot an autonomous driving team oriented to local government requirements. Whether it is the selection of cooperative models, testing locations, or product research and development, it is difficult for Baidu's Apollo to consider according to the rhythm that is most conducive to technological development, but whether it can obtain local policy support as the first criterion.

Therefore, even though the prospect of L4 autonomous driving is very clear, due to the current driving experience and the reality of regulatory policies, Baidu's original dream of empowering vehicle companies can only be promoted slowly as a vision, and now it has to make strategic changes from the top-level design level-not exporting autonomous driving technology to car companies.

The choice between the referee and the player

Why is Huawei's HI solution not adopted by SAIC? From the perspective of vehicle companies, they must hope to dominate the personal consumption market by themselves, and do not want to becomesmartFrom this perspective, the concerns of car companies are completely understandable.

But this has caused a second problem for Baidu's Apollo program. As mentioned above, in the initial concept, Apollo borrowedGoogleThe idea of the Android system for the entire smartphone industry is to develop into the center of the entire smart car industry through open source, which directly leads to the reluctance of vehicle companies to adopt its solutions.

Therefore, after some trade-offs, Baidu began to plan to build its own car at the end of 2020. Of course, this has the mentality of coveting the huge market potential of smart cars, but it is also out of last resort. Finally, in March this year, Baidu and Geely jointly launched Jidu Automobile and planned to invest 50 billion yuan in building cars within five years.

However, this has put Baidu into another trouble-being both a referee and an athlete, which is similar to the current predicament of Huawei's Hongmeng system. If car companies adopt Baidu's autonomous driving solution, will their lifeblood be in the hands of competitors? Will Baidu be biased when providing autonomous driving technology output?

In addition, Baidu's autonomous driving solution also faces fierce competition from other players, the most prominent of which is Huawei. As a joint partner of Huawei and Baidu, Jihu Automobile has released the Alpha smart car based on Huawei's HI solution. Relying on 30 years of ICT capabilities, Huawei has provided it with a new smart car digital architecture and five major smart systems.. In the entire solution, Huawei already has \"full-stack\" intelligent capabilities, including chips, operating systems, languages, maps, cloud computing, big data, vehicle-road collaboration, autonomous driving, software iterative upgrades, and cloud data training.

More importantly, Huawei has announced that it is the company's iron law not to build cars since 2018, and has repeatedly reiterated that this strategy will not change. Factors that companies consider when choosing between the two.

Based on the above considerations, Xu Baoqiang revealed in this media interview that Baidu will choose another path, that is, to avoid the personal consumption market where car companies want to control the dominance and competition, and cut in from the shared car business level. In this regard, in June this year, Jihu Automobile and Baidu Apollo released the unmanned shared car Apollo Moon. The price is 480,000 yuan, and the cost is only one-third of other L4 self-driving vehicles. Baidu believes that this is expected to truly bring Robotaxi into the online car-hailing operating cost range.

Downplaying the autonomous driving system platform that has been betting on for 8 years, and instead choosing smart shared cars with uncertain application prospects, small market space, and more difficult implementation. Is it a choice or a last resort? I believe only Baidu itself knows better.

Can Jidu Automobile carry the banner?

If Baidu turns and its development focus is no longer on exporting autonomous driving technology to car companies, then Jidu Automobile is likely to be the ultimate carrier of Baidu's dream of building a car. From the perspective of equity institutions, Baidu's shareholding share has reached 55%. In addition to Xia Yiping, three other directors, Liang Zhixiang, He Junjie, and Li Zhenyu, are from Baidu, and only one director, An Conghui, is from Geely. This shows that Baidu has a better interest in Jidu Automobile. Higher control and expectations.

In addition, judging from the hard conditions of both parties, they are indeed a natural couple. As an Internet technology giant, Baidu's technical strength is naturally needless to say, especially since it has been deeply involved in AI and autonomous driving for many years. In terms of Geely, its total sales in 2020 will reach 1.32 million vehicles, and its automobile production capacity is very strong. In addition, Geely's self-developed SEA Haohan automobile architecture is based on the idea of software-defined automobiles. Whether it is the hardware layer, system layer or ecological layer, it has achieved unprecedented compatibility in the industry, which can greatly shorten the research and development cycle of automobiles. Therefore, Jidu Automobile dared to shout out the slogan of achieving mass production within three years.

At the same time, Baidu promised to invest 50 billion yuan in research and development in the next five years, far exceedingNio, XPeng, and Ideal's R&D investment of 1 billion yuan. From this perspective, solid autonomous driving technology and long-term huge investment may really bring better market performance to Jidu Automobile.

However, Jidu Automobile, born with a golden key in its mouth, is not completely free of hidden worries. The first is the establishment of a car manufacturing team. In April 2021, Xia Yiping predicted that by the end of 2022, the core team of Jidu Automobile will expand to 2,500-3,000 people.

From the previous team of 3-4 people to nearly 3,000 people by the end of 2022, the team formation started almost from scratch. So far, Jidu's team includes people from traditional car companies and people who have integrated with new forces, as well as colleagues from the Internet and consumer electronics fields. On the one hand, this brings Jidu Automobile's integration advantages in all aspects, but on the other hand, such advantages must be realized on the basis of full running-in. After all, entrepreneurial teams will go through a running-in period more or less, long or short.

But an undeniable fact is that the internal relationship of Baidu system is complicated, even if it used toMicrosoftLu Qi, who has a halo, also caused the loss of core personnel such as Wang Jin and Ng Enda when adjusting the autonomous driving business, and failed to straighten out internal relationships. It is not yet known to what extent Xia Yiping can mobilize internal resources and do a good job in Jidu Automobile.

Secondly, although Xia Yiping agrees that intelligence is the core competitiveness of future smart cars, \"intelligence is not only the form, but also the bottom-up reconstruction of the underlying technology.\" And defined this bottom-up reconstruction as \"end-to-end ecology\". This is consistent with the current general consensus in the industry-smart cars must be deeply integrated with users' lives in the future, that is, they will form a set of non-perceptive IoT ecosystem with other users' devices. However, at present, neither Baidu nor Geely have provided it The ability to provide ecosystem empowerment.

Ecological construction is not Baidu's strength. Baidu's software coverage breadth and depth on the mobile side not only lags far behind Ali,TencentIn terms of hardware, there is also a lack of devices such as mobile phones that can have a strong connection with users, and Baidu has not been able to establish its own IoT ecosystem so far, which determines whether Jidu Automobile can gain consumers in the future. key factors for recognition.

Finally, the cooperation between Baidu and Geely is another concern of the industry. Generally speaking, the car manufacturing cycle is very long, and the joint venture car manufacturing method chosen by both parties has few successful cases in the industry. If there are differences in cooperation concepts, it will have a huge impact on Jidu Automobile. At the same time, Dr. Mei Songlin, a senior automotive analyst, believes that \"the capital investment in building an automobile brand is huge. It is unknown whether both parties have enough patience and strength, and whether the main businesses of both parties will affect investment. If there are challenges in cooperation, whether the two parties still trust each other will also affect cooperation.

Therefore, it can be said that although Jidu Automobile, which has been mass-produced in three years, was born with a golden key and is related to Baidu's future, the situation it faces is not optimistic, especially when its own team has not been straightened out, the ecological construction is absent, and the joint venture car-making model with Geely, any mistake will make it difficult for Baidu, which entered the game late, to catch up from behind. Because of its full bet on Jidu Automobile, Baidu's self-driving Android dream almost ended in vain.

Baidu, did you accidentally becomeBYDCEO Wang Chuanfu said that he \"wasted three years\" to build cars?
","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Betting on Jidu Automobile, how far can Baidu's dream of building a car fly?
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nBetting on Jidu Automobile, how far can Baidu's dream of building a car fly?\n
\n
\n\n\n

\n\n
\n
派财经官微
\n
2021-07-31 08:07
\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
I got up early and caught up a late marketBaiduSelf-driving doesn't want to be the \"soul\" of cars anymore?

InSAIC GroupShortly after Chairman Chen Hong proposed to take the \"soul\" into his own hands,BaiduXu Baoqiang, director of the autonomous driving product operation department, said in a recent interview with the media: \"Baidu's current development direction is not to export autonomous driving technology to car companies, but to promote unmanned travel in the sharing field.\"

In the above remarks, Baidu revealed two key messages: Baidu no longer focuses on exporting autonomous driving technology and focuses on driverless driving in the shared field.

Why is Huawei's HI solution not adopted by SAIC? Apollo 发布了无人共享车 Apollo Moon,价格为48万元,成本仅为其它 L4 级自动驾驶车辆的三分之一,百度认为这有望真正将 Robotaxi 带进网约车运营成本区间。\n淡化押注了8年的自动驾驶系统平台,转而选择应用前景不明朗、市场空间小、落地更困难的智能共享汽车,究竟是选择,还是不得已?相信只有百度自己更清楚了。\n集度汽车能否扛起大旗?\n如果百度转向,发展重点不再是向车企输出自动驾驶技术,那么,集度汽车很可能是百度造车梦的最终载体。从股权机构来看,百度持股份额达到了55%,除了夏一平,另有梁志翔、何俊杰、李震宇三位董事来自百度,只有安聪慧一位董事来自吉利,由此可见百度对于集度汽车有着更高的掌控力与期望。\n另外,从双方的硬性条件来说,确实是一对天成佳偶,作为互联网科技巨头,百度技术实力自然不必多说,尤其是深耕AI与自动驾驶多年。吉利方面,其2020年总销量高达132万辆,汽车生产能力非常强悍。此外,吉利自研的 SEA浩瀚汽车架构基于软件定义汽车的思路所打造,无论是硬件层、系统层还是生态层,均实现了行业内前所未有的兼容性,可以大幅缩短汽车的研发周期。因此,集度汽车才敢于喊出三年内实现量产的口号。\n同时,百度承诺未来五年内将投入500亿元进行研发,远超蔚来、小鹏、理想10亿元级别的研发投入,从这一角度而言,扎实的自动驾驶技术与长期的巨额投入,或许真的能够为集度汽车带来更优秀的市场表现。\n然而,含着金钥匙出生的集度汽车也并非完全没有隐忧。首先就是造车团队的搭建,2021年4月,夏一平预计到2022年年底,集度汽车核心团队规模将扩大到2500-3000人。\n从之前的3-4人团队,到2022年底的近3000人,团队组建几乎是从零开始。至今,集度的团队中有来自传统车企和已经在新势力融合过的人,也有来自互联网、消费电子领域的同事。这一方面带来了集度汽车在各方面的整合优势,但另一方面这样的优势也必须在充分地磨合基础上才能实现。毕竟,创业团队或多或少、或长或短都会经历一个磨合时期。\n但一个不可否认的事实是,百度体系内部关系复杂,即使曾经微软光环加身的陆奇,在调整自动驾驶业务时也造成了王劲、吴恩达等核心人员的流失,没能理顺内部关系。夏一平能在多大程度上调动内部资源,做好集度汽车尚未可知。\n其次,虽然夏一平认同智能化才是未来智能汽车的核心竞争力,“智能化不只是形态上,也是底层技术,从下至上的重构。”并把这种从下至上的重构定义为“端到端的生态”。这与目前行业的普遍共识相一致——智能汽车未来一定是与用户生活深度融合,也就是与用户其他设备构成一套「无感知」级的 IoT 生态系统,但是眼下无论是百度还是吉利,都没有为其提供生态系统赋能的能力。\n生态构建却并不是百度的强项,百度在移动端不仅软件覆盖广度和深度远远落后于阿里、腾讯,在硬件方面也缺少手机之类能够与用户产生强联系的设备,百度也至今未能建立起属于自己的一套 IoT 物联网生态系统,这都是决定着未来集度汽车是否能够获得消费者认可的关键因素。\n最后,百度与吉利的合作方式也是业界的另一担忧点。通常来说,造车周期很长,而双方选择的合资造车方式在业内很少有成功的案例,如果一旦出现合作理念分歧,将对集度汽车的影响巨大。同时,资深汽车分析师梅松林博士认为,“打造汽车品牌资金投入很大,双方是不是都有足够的耐心和实力、双方的主业是否会影响投资,都是未知数。而如果合作中遇到挑战,双方之间是否依然互相信任,同样会影响到合作。\n因此,可以说豪言3年量产的集度汽车虽是含着金钥匙出生,关乎百度的未来,但其所面临的局面却并不乐观,尤其是在自身团队尚未理顺、生态构建缺位,以及与吉利的合资造车模式,任意一项出现纰漏都将导致晚入局的百度难以后来居上。因为全力押注集度汽车,百度的自动驾驶安卓梦也几乎无疾而终。\n百度,是否一不小心,成为比亚迪CEO王传福口中“浪费三年”造车之人?","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"QNETCN":0.9,"BIDU":0.9,"09888":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":1584,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":806754553,"gmtCreate":1627696193472,"gmtModify":1703494810016,"author":{"id":"3583541700741630","authorId":"3583541700741630","name":"Weeweess","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/242477c20840a38ec5dad0ad105d50be","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3583541700741630","idStr":"3583541700741630"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Ya","listText":"Ya","text":"Ya","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/806754553","repostId":"2155150951","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":1512,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0}],"defaultTab":"posts","isTTM":true}
