Wall Street goes through a rough patch, investments in steady, reliable businesses can help ease the turbulence.Between the Russia-Ukraine war, the highest inflation to hit the U.S. in 40 years (7.9%), and ongoing supply chain issues affecting a broad array of industries, investors have been feeling a high degree of economic uncertainty over the last few months. As a result, the stock market has been quite volatile. The Federal Reserve has pledged to raise interest rates from their current rock-bottom lows to curb inflation, but it will have to perform a delicate balancing act to ensure that those moves don't trigger a recession. Meanwhile, technology stocks, in particular, have sold off sharply, and tech-heavy the Nasdaq Composite Index has entered bear markett erritory. It's unnerving to see the value of your portfolio plummet. That's why, during crashes and downturns, it's a good strategy to hold investments in companies that have both proven competitive edges and resilient business models. Strong and recognizable brands also help businesses to retain their momentum during rough periods. And if they are reliable dividend payers, even better -- that's a signal of healthy, steady cash flow generation, and those payouts can tide investors through challenging times in the market. These three stocks offer all of those characteristics and should make for safe bets to hold during a market downturn.1. VisaVisa is one of the largest digital payment companies in the world, facilitating transactions between consumers, banks, and merchants in more than 200 countries. The company has proven its mettle during the pandemic, chalking up net revenue of $24.1 billion in its fiscal 2021, which ended Sept. 30 -- up from $23 billion in fiscal 2019. Operating income and net income were also running slightly ahead of their pre-pandemic levels, at $15.8 billion and $12.3 billion, respectively. The pandemic shifted a significant new share of transactions to Visa's network. Payments volume rose from $8.8 trillion in fiscal 2019 to $10.4 trillion in fiscal 2021, while the number of transactions processed rose from 138.3 billion to 164.7 billion over the same period. This momentum has carried on into the first quarter of fiscal 2022, with Visa reporting a 20% year-over-year jump in payments volume along with a 24% year-over-year increase in net revenue. The company also has an impressive track record of dividend hikes, having raised its payout every year since it went public in 2008. Visa's latest quarterly dividend was $0.375 per share for an annual payout of $1.50 per share. At current share prices, that yields about 0.8%. There could be more good news to come for investors, as Visa recently announced that consumer spending momentum has resumed as COVID-19 case numbers have fallen from their omicron-wave peaks. The company also recently completed its acquisition of Tink, an open banking platform that facilitates the building of financial products and services by financial institutions and fintech companies. That purchase should help Visa to extend its reach and garner a wider customer base.2. Procter & GambleIf you're scouting for a reliable investment in the consumer goods sector, look no further than Procter & Gamble. The owner of 60-plus popular brands including Pantene, Gillette, and Oral-B, Procter & Gamble sells its products in more than 180 countries and has been in business since 1837. Despite the pandemic, the company has grown its sales consistently over the last five years, from $65.1 billion in fiscal 2017 to $76.1 billion in fiscal 2021, which ended June 30. Operating cash flow improved from $12.8 billion to $18.4 billion over the same period, and its per-share dividend payout also increased from $2.70 in fiscal 2017 to $3.24 in fiscal 2021. And with an enviable record of raising its dividends for 65 consecutive years, it holds the rare distinction of being a Dividend King. The company continues to report healthy results. In its fiscal 2022 second quarter, which ended Dec. 31, net sales rose 6% year over year to $20.9 billion while net income rose 10% to $4.2 billion. For the first six months of its fiscal 2022, Procter & Gamble generated $8 billion worth of free cash flow -- more than sufficient to support its growing dividend payments. The company has also committed between $9 billion and $10 billion to stock buybacks as another way of enhancing shareholder value.3. NikeInvestors can count on Nike to deliver the goods. As one of the world's largest and most reputable sports apparel and footwear brands, it's known for its innovative sports shoes that help to maximize athletes' performance. And on the business front, its successful pivot to a model more focused on direct online sales mitigated the impact of brick-and-mortar store closures during the pandemic. In its fiscal 2021, which ended May 31, revenue rebounded strongly to $44.5 billion -- compared to $37.4 billion in fiscal 2020 -- while net income of $5.7 billion surpassed the pre-pandemic level of $4 billion from fiscal 2019.Nike continues to post growth. During its most recently reported quarter -- fiscal 2022's Q2 (ending Nov. 30) -- digital sales were up 12% year over year and gross margin increased by 2.8 percentage points to 45.9%. For the first half of fiscal 2022, revenue increased by 8% year over year while net income climbed by 16% to $3.2 billion. The company continued to generate a healthy free cash flow of $3.5 billion and also announced its 20th consecutive annual dividend increase, boosting its quarterly payout to $0.305 per share.Nike is poised to accelerate its digital transformation with the acquisition of RTFKT, a maker of virtual sneakers and crypto-collectibles. The electrification of consumer vehicles and enterprise fleets, and the desire by most countries to reduce their carbon footprints and halt climate change in its tracks, mean that we're witnessing the beginning of what could be a multidecade vehicle replacement cycle.According to a survey conducted late last year by KPMG, the average forecast of the more than 1,000 global auto leaders KPMG spoke to was for worldwide electric vehicle (EV) sales to reach roughly 50% of all autos sold by 2030. Meanwhile, a November report from Market Research Future calls for the EV industry to hit $957 billion in market value by 2030, which is more than quadruple its value at the end of 2021.Although investing in EV growth looks like a no-brainer opportunity, not all stocks associated with the electrification of autos will be winners. While I believe one name can be bought hand over fist (I'll get to this company in a bit), there are two EV stocks that should be avoided like the plague. Two all-electric Rivian R1Ts. Image source: Rivian Automotive. The first EV stock to avoid: Rivian AutomotiveOn the surface, Rivian Automotive (NASDAQ:RIVN), which was one of 2021's hottest initial public offerings (IPOs), looks like it has the tools to be successful. The company will offer three differentiated vehicles -- the R1T pickup truck, the R1S SUV, and the EDV electric van -- with planned annual capacity ranging from 200,000 vehicles at its Illinois factory to 400,000 at its Georgia plant. The latter is an estimated figure, with Rivian spending a cool $5 billion to build the factory. Production is anticipated to begin by 2024.Rivian also has an order for 100,000 EDVs from Amazon, which it received in 2019. The sheer size of this order has validated Rivian as a player of interest in the EV space for years. But the flipside to Rivian is that it's still very wet behind the ears. The company produced only 1,015 EVs in 2021 and had its IPO with no trailing-12-month sales. It missed an already low production bar for 2021, and will likely deal with the same supply chain constraints affecting the entire industry. In other words, Rivian's trajectory is bound to hit numerous speed bumps and potholes. It's par for the course when building an EV company from the ground up.Making matters worse, Rivian finds itself in hot water with the public after announcing, then walking back (for those who ordered before March 1), a price hike of $12,000 on its quad-motor models. Higher material costs are forcing automakers to boost prices. While Rivian was simply following the pack, a $12,000 price hike on vehicles that already cost $70,000 (or more) didn't sit well with customers. If Rivian isn't careful, it could price customers out of buying its vehicles. While Rivian could eventually grow into an investment-worthy company in the EV space, it has little business being valued at $45 billion. The all-electric Nikola Badger got the ax before it even rolled off the production line. Image source: Nikola. The second EV stock to avoid: NikolaWell before Rivian was the hottest thing in the EV space, Nikola (NASDAQ:NKLA) was making waves. It was one of many companies that went public via a special purpose acquisition company (SPAC). On June 9, 2020, Nikola hit an intraday high of nearly $94 a share. Unfortunately, those same shares were trading hands for $7 and change as of March 3, 2022.The initial buzz for Nikola had to do with its introduction of the Badger in February 2020. The Badger was to be a battery EV (BEV) or fuel-cell EV (FCEV) pickup truck with an estimated 600-mile range and a reasonably low $60,000 price tag. When coupled with Nikola's ambitions to also build BEV and FCEV semi trucks, Wall Street was enamored, at least initially, with the company's potential. Then the proverbial wheels fell off.Over the course of the next year and a half, the Badger would be shelved before it even rolled off the production line. This was due, in part, to Nikola being unable to land a manufacturing partner for the truck. Though it looked as if General Motors would step up and be that partner, an eventual agreement between the two companies didn't include the Badger.Worse yet, a handful of allegations of wrongdoing levied by short-side firm Hindenburg Research against Nikola proved to be true. An independent review found that pre-order figures were exaggerated. This resulted in a probe by the Securities and Exchange Commission, leading to former CEO Trevor Milton being indicted on three counts of fraud this past July.Today, Nikola is only just beginning to deliver its first BEV semi trucks. Even though it's received a couple of letter-of-intent orders during the fourth quarter for its semi trucks, it's not clear if the company has the capital necessary to ramp up production and ward off significant quarterly losses. When coupled with its damaged reputation, Nikola becomes an easy pass for investors. The newly introduced Nio ET7 EV sedan. Image source: Nio.The EV stock to buy hand over fist: NioOn the other end of the spectrum is Nio (NYSE:NIO), which checks all the appropriate boxes and can be bought hand over fist following its recent pullback.I'll freely admit that, a little over a year ago, I had Nio in the same camp as Nikola -- i.e., Avoid! Avoid! Avoid! At one point, Nio's valuation topped $90 billion with the company pacing for only around 20,000 EVs in production annually. Its valuation just didn't make any sense. However, management has really impressed with its ability to boost production in a challenging environment. Though the Chinese New Year held back production in February, and supply chain issues curbed output in January, Nio managed to top 10,000 deliveries in both November and December. Management has offered guidance suggesting that the company can hit 50,000 deliveries monthly by the end of the year. This would work out to an annual run-rate of around 600,000 EVs.Fueling this production surge is Nio's existing line of EVs, as well as the introduction of three new vehicles. Until now, the company's premium SUVs (the ES8 and ES6) and crossover EV (the ES6) have received plenty of interest. But the next wave of growth will come from the deliveries of the ET7 and ET5, which are EV sedans that take direct aim at Tesla's Model S and Model 3, respectively. With the top-tier battery option, Nio claims an estimated range of approximately 621 miles for its sedans.Furthermore, the battery-as-a-service (BaaS) program that was unveiled in August 2020 by management is pure genius. For buyers, BaaS lowers the initial purchase price of their vehicle and gives them the option to charge, swap, or upgrade their batteries at a later date. For Nio, it trades lower-margin near-term sales for high-margin fee-based revenue (buyers pay a monthly fee for the BaaS program) that keeps buyers loyal to the brand. And did I mention Nio is based in China, the world's largest auto market? The EV industry is still nascent in China, meaning market share is up for grabs. With Nio expected to turn the corner to recurring profitability next year, and the company valued at just seven times Wall Street's forecast earnings per share in 2024, it looks like a screaming buy.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"NKLA":1,"BEV":1,"NIO":1,"EVS.SI":0.6,"RIVN":1}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":2761,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9031980509,"gmtCreate":1646410090189,"gmtModify":1676534127252,"author":{"id":"3583134156550772","authorId":"3583134156550772","name":"Lucky997","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/d479af33dd70e9e201e6800dd057b2a7","crmLevel":12,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3583134156550772","idStr":"3583134156550772"},"themes":[],"htmlText":" Like please","listText":" Like please","text":"Like please","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":8,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9031980509","repostId":"1113249024","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1113249024","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1646407823,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1113249024?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2022-03-04 23:30","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Palantir Stock: Cathie Wood Sells, What Next?","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1113249024","media":"TipRanks","summary":"Shares of secretive data analytics software company Palantir (PLTR) have been sinking steadily lower","content":"<div>\n<p>Shares of secretive data analytics software company Palantir (PLTR) have been sinking steadily lower over the past few months. Following the release of some underwhelming earnings results, many investors are probably wondering what they should do with shares of the former WallStreetBets darling.A lot of high-multiple tech companies that have clocked in marvellous results have still seen their shares crumble in recent quarters. Undoubtedly, a quarterly flop alongside a broader souring of the tech trade is not where investors want to find themselves these days. Not when so many high-tech firms are continuing to impress in an attempt to offset the longer-term headwind of rising rates. I’m neutral on the stock.Palantir Stock Under PressureHigher rates eat out of the value of unprofitable, high-multiple growth stocks. The higher rates rise, the worse off many of the “story” stocks will be once the U.S. Federal Reserve gets to it.Indeed, Fed chair Jerome Powell has retired his “transitory” viewpoint of inflation. He recognizes the dangers of high and persistent inflation and his tone seemed to give off the impression that the Ukraine-Russia crisis will not prevent him from raising rates this year. The trajectory of rates is enough of a headwind to avoid high-multiple tech stocks like Palantir. Recent quarterly weakness, I believe, is just another reason why it may be better to follow ARK Invest’s Cathie Wood by selling some PLTR stock before the weakness has chance to worsen.Wood isn’t one to sell plunging stocks at a loss if she still believes in its innovative growth story. She’s all about doubling down on innovative companies on the way down. Undoubtedly, such a dip-buying strategy has been questionable thus far. In any case, Wood’s recent ditching of around $123 million worth of Palantir stock should ring some alarm bells.Changes Regarding Palantir’s Growth Narrative?Given Wood’s propensity to buy more shares of companies she believes in on the way down, I do view her selling activity as a cause for concern. For now, I am neutral on the stock given the high multiple (PLTR stock trades at a hefty 14.3 times sales) and modest quarterly miss, which may or may not have been overblown by fearful investors. On the plus side, I don’t think the fourth quarter was as abysmal as some investors believe.Growth and margins could still be poised to ascend from here. Though the earnings miss was underwhelming, I think PLTR stock is on the right track and do not view the narrative as being changed at a fundamental level. The valuation, though, remains suspect and could still leave the stock at risk of substantial downside as investors expect more than just robust top-line growth. While the Palantir quarter was technically a miss, it wasn’t nearly as bad as recent selling pressure would suggest. The 34% pop in year-over-year sales growth was decent, with the Commercial segment doing more than its share of heavy lifting.Looking farther out, the company is still pointing to 30% top-line growth at a minimum through 2025.While margins aren’t where investors want them to be with rates to rise soon, management is still focused on various margin-enhancing initiatives. For long-term investors, that has to be soothing.Wall Street’s TakeAccording to TipRanks’ analyst rating consensus, PLTR stock comes in as a Moderate Sell. Out of eight analyst ratings, there is one Buy recommendation, three Hold recommendations and four Sell recommendations. The average Palantir price target is $13.17, implying an upside of 16.1%. Analyst price targets range from a low of $9 per share to a high of $21 per share.Bottom Line on Palantir StockRising rates, a lack of profits and a hazy growth narrative are not where investors want to be at a time like this. Personally, I think the narrative has not changed nearly as much as the price has. While popular innovation investor Cathie Wood may be wrong to sell shares of PLTR on weakness, I do think there are easier places to make money these days.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"PLTR":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":3100,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9031980237,"gmtCreate":1646410071067,"gmtModify":1676534127252,"author":{"id":"3583134156550772","authorId":"3583134156550772","name":"Lucky997","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/d479af33dd70e9e201e6800dd057b2a7","crmLevel":12,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3583134156550772","idStr":"3583134156550772"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Like
