Investors in the stock are hoping for some relief on Wednesday when the company releases its fiscal 2023 first-quarter results (for the three months that ended on April 30).A situation involving a near-term risk in the graphics processing unit (GPU) market seems to have spooked investors going into Nvidia's upcoming quarterly report. So, should Nvidia investors jump ship before the company releases its results to avoid further potential losses? Or should savvy investors looking for a long-term growth play take advantage of Nvidia's slip and buy the stock given its relatively attractive valuation?Image source: Getty Images.Reasons to sell Nvidia stockConsumer electronics company Asus recently pointed out that the demand for graphics cards used by cryptocurrency miners is cooling down. Though the company believes that the demand for gaming GPUs continues to remain strong, Nvidia investors should be a worried lot as the chip giant has been hurt badly in the past thanks to weak cryptocurrency GPU demand.Jon Peddie Research estimates miners accounted for a quarter of GPU sales in the first half of 2021. Additionally, it won't be surprising to see preowned graphics cards used by cryptocurrency miners flood the market. Such a scenario means a nice chunk of GPU sales could disappear and shrink Nvidia's addressable market. Throw in the fact that sales of personal computers are slowing down, and it is easy to see why Nvidia is heading into its quarterly report in a challenging environment.Market research company IDC estimates sales of PCs were down 5.1% in the first quarter of 2022 following two years of solid growth. Declining PC sales would further restrict sales of graphics cards as Nvidia will have a smaller pool of customers to whom it could sell its GPUs. All of this indicates that Nvidia's video gaming business may be headed for a near-term slowdown.The company generated $12.5 billion in revenue from its gaming business in fiscal 2022, up 61% from the prior year. So, any weakness on this front could derail the company's impressive growth momentum and cause the stock to lose more ground considering its rich valuation.Nvidia stock is trading at 44 times trailing earnings, which is expensive when compared to the Nasdaq-100's earnings multiple of 26. As such, Nvidia needs to deliver a solid set of results and back it up with eye-popping guidance if it wants to turn its fortunes around on the stock market.Reasons to buy before earningsNvidia stock is expensive when compared to the index, but investors shouldn't forget that it was trading at 90 times earnings last year. What's more, Nvidia's price-to-earnings ratio is lower than its five-year average multiple of 58. So, savvy investors are getting a relatively good deal on Nvidia stock right now.They may consider grabbing this opportunity as, despite the headwinds in the gaming GPU market, Nvidia's guidance indicates that it could deliver another quarter of robust growth. The company expects to deliver $8.1 billion in fiscal Q1 revenue along with an adjusted gross margin of 67%.Nvidia had delivered $5.66 billion in revenue in the year-ago period along with an adjusted gross margin of 66.2%. So, Nvidia's revenue is expected to rise 43% year over year. Analysts expect that robust increase to translate into a year-over-year earnings increase of nearly 42% to $1.29 per share.It won't be surprising to see Nvidia back up such impressive growth with healthy guidance thanks to its fast-growing data center business, which complements the growth of the gaming segment. The data center segment was Nvidia's second-largest business in fiscal 2022 as it produced 39% of its total revenue. The company's data center revenue increased 58% last fiscal year to a record $10.6 billion. Investors can expect another solid year from the data center business thanks to the growing demand for server GPUs, which is a market Nvidia dominates.Meanwhile, the automotive business could give Nvidia another shot in the arm. The company sees a $300 billion addressable revenue opportunity in the automotive market, and the good part is that it has already started taking advantage of it. Throw in other emerging opportunities such as the metaverse, and it is easy to see that Nvidia is well placed to overcome any potential weaknesses in one part of its business thanks to the multiple opportunities it is sitting on.As such, investors looking to buy a semiconductor stock for the long run may think of buying Nvidia stock irrespective of any near-term headwinds. And to add to investor worries, the company just announced it is shutting down its e-commerce operation in India.These recent headwinds may worry some investors enough to stay away from the stock, but for those with patience, Sea presents a great opportunity.Image source: Getty Images.Is international expansion hitting a roadblock?Sea has shrewdly established the key pillars of its business -- Garena, Shopee, and Sea Money -- to take advantage of three global megatrends: gaming, e-commerce, and digital financial services, respectively. The company established its roots in Southeast Asia and quickly emerged into a global player, extending its presence into South America and Europe.Its global expansion seemed to be going well, but on March 6, Sea announced that it was closing its Shopee business in France, which was a surprise for investors but largely viewed as a mere blip in the long-term plan. The news that really raised investors' eyebrows came on March 28 when Sea announced it is pulling the curtains on its e-commerce operations in India.Why would Sea exit potentially one of the largest markets in the world and derail its growth prospects? In the backdrop of its recent stock performance -- and the growing uncertainty around the economic environment with rising inflation and a major war -- many investors may be losing faith in the company.Digging deeper may offer some cluesThe seeds of Sea's exit from India may have been sown around Feb. 2022. The Indian government, citing national security and user data privacy concerns, banned 54 Chinese mobile apps. This ban included Free Fire, Garena's wildly popular battle royale mobile game. The immediate question from many familiar with Sea was: Why was Free Fire banned, when Sea is a Singaporean company, not a Chinese one.One likely reason is that Tencent Holdings, the Chinese entertainment giant, has an 18.7% stake in Sea. That relationship likely raised enough red flags for the Indian government. It is interesting to note regulators permitted Free Fire Max, the premium version of Free Fire, to continue operations in India.So how does the above event lead to Sea's India exit for Shopee? Free Fire is at the center of Sea's playbook of international expansion -- the company attracts a large user base with its engrossing video game, learns about users' online habits, and creates opportunities to promote its e-commerce and digital payment services. Additionally, Garena designed Free Fire to run flawlessly even on low-end smartphones, ensuring the game can reach the majority of the population in developing countries.Free Fire Max doesn't have the same reach as it requires mobile phones with higher-end configurations. Not having Free Fire to lay the foundation in India threw a wrench in Sea's proven formula for expansion.Finally, no one knows how the political situation between India and China may unfold. India may not ban Shopee today, but that doesn't mean it won't do so in the future. For Shopee to succeed in this highly competitive market, it would need to invest significantly, and the risk underlying that investment is simply too high. All factors considered, Sea's move to shutter its e-commerce operation in India looks like a smart and proactive business decision.Robust execution and long runway bode wellSea's founder and CEO Forrest Li has led the company brilliantly. Gamers now enjoy Free Fire in over 130 countries as Shopee launched in four countries in Latin America, three countries in Europe, and in China -- all in the past two and a half years. Free Fire has been the highest-grossing mobile app for 10 consecutive quarters in Southeast Asia and Latin America, according to data.ai. Sea's total revenue grew a whopping 128% in 2021 to reach $10 billion. Gross profits for the same period increased 189% to $3.9 billion.The company is investing heavily to expand into new markets, and as a result, net losses also grew 26% during the year to $2.0 billion. However, Li believes that by 2025, the cash generated by Shopee and Sea Money, the primary beneficiaries of Sea's investments, collectively will enable these two businesses to substantially self-fund their own long-term growth.The global opportunity for Sea remains large. Southeast Asia, Sea's core market, is one of the world's fastest-growing regions with a population rising over 50% faster than the United States' and a GDP increasing more than twice as quickly. An expanding middle-class, rising average household incomes, and rapidly spreading cellphone and internet usage are creating more shoppers in the seven Southeast Asian countries where Sea operates.The company is also gaining major traction in Brazil, the sixth-largest country by population. Shopee Brazil recorded more than 140 million orders in the fourth quarter, growing at close to 400% year over year. The company is also making headways in other South American countries.Despite shutting down its e-commerce operation in India, Sea is projecting Shopee's revenue to grow 76% in 2022, while Sea Money grows 155%. These are very impressive numbers that underscore Sea's global scale and its ability to overcome hurdles in its growth trajectory.Now may be a good time to board the shipManagement is forecasting a decline in bookings for Garena this year, which is understandable as the company faces the near-term headwinds of reopening economies across the world and Free Fire's ban in India. But Li remains aspirational and focused on the long-term prospects of the company.Responding to the over 65% drop in the company's share price, Li assured employees in an email: \"Do not fear: we are in a strong position internally, and we are clear on our next steps. This is short-term pain that we have to endure to truly maximise our long-term potential.\" Lee went on to say: \"The scale of our ambition remains unchanged: to make a long-lasting mark in history.\"Sea has successfully entered multiple international markets. The company is carefully assessing its opportunity in each region and making shrewd decisions to either expand or exit those markets. Sea's strategy of failing fast leads to efficient capital allocation for the company and bodes well for its future. It is still executing well, and despite its exit from India has a long runway in front of it.Data by YCharts.As a result of the sell-off, shares are trading at a three-year low price-to-sales valuation of 6.6 as of this writing. Taking a small position in Sea should serve patient investors with a long-term focus very well.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"SE":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":3113,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9019805651,"gmtCreate":1648567424587,"gmtModify":1676534355383,"author":{"id":"3582015738498025","authorId":"3582015738498025","name":"Azelia","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/44f8185952d41c4ad8e9dcacabe12506","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3582015738498025","idStr":"3582015738498025"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"like","listText":"like","text":"like","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":5,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9019805651","repostId":"1127392287","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1127392287","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1648556072,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1127392287?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2022-03-29 20:14","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Apple Stock: $3 Trillion Back in Focus","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1127392287","media":"Bloomberg","summary":"Stock has risen 11 straight days, adding roughly $400 billionSeen earnings estimates upgraded; However, by dollar-cost averaging, holding for the long term, and reframing sell-offs as opportunities, it is possible to remain optimistic when facing a correction.Speaking to this third point, let us look at three heavily sold-off stocks that offer the potential to set you up for life.PinterestDriven by its mission \"to help people discover the things they love, and inspire them to do those things in their daily lives,\" idea-incubator Pinterest ( PINS 1.01% ) puts a twist on social media.In a world facing mental health concerns related to social media usage, Pinterest flips the script by providing hope and inspiration -- even if it's only on an aspirational level.Perhaps thanks to this unique connection to its user base, the company saw its share price reach a high of almost $89 in 2021.However, after reaching that high mark, Pinterest saw its monthly active users (MAUs) drop from 478 million in the first quarter of 2021 to 431 million at the end of the year. This drop, paired with PayPal's abandoned acquisition for around $70 per share, has sent the stock down 70% from its peak.So what makes Pinterest interesting now?First, the fears around this MAU decline seem overstated, considering it grew from 367 million in 2019 to 459 million the following year thanks to a pandemic-aided surge. Its subsequent decline in 2021 was far from surprising in hindsight as most of the world reopened, temporarily setting apps like Pinterest on the back burner.Second, despite this pullback in MAUs, its global average revenue per user (ARPU) of $1.93 continues to shine. Up 23% year over year in the fourth quarter, this metric strengthened with a growing ARPU of $7.43 domestically and an international ARPU that was up 62% to $0.57. As Pinterest continues to roll out its shoppable content and advertising base internationally, look for its massive user base to become increasingly profitable to the company.Finally, according to Comparably, Pinterest has a Net Promoter Score (NPS) of +50. NPS is rated on a scale of -100 to +100 and captures whether a company's customers would recommend the product. Generally, a positive score is good, while anything above +30 is excellent, making Pinterest's score stand out.Best yet for investors, businesses with excellent NPS scores tend to outperform the market thanks to happier customers. As a result of this NPS score, its remaining international growth runway, and a meager price to free cash flow ratio of just 23, buying and holding Pinterest at these prices could move your retirement years ahead of schedule.Zoom Video CommunicationsLike Pinterest, Zoom Video Communications ( ZM -0.46% ) boasts an excellent NPS of +53 thanks to its suite of hybrid work-enabling products. Famous for its video conferencing software that has become a verb, Zoom is creating new products, its most recent being the Zoom Contact Center.This new offering will act as a customer engagement solution for Zoom's clients and highlights the somewhat quiet growth optionality hidden behind the company's core video product. Whether it's the Zoom phone, events, meetings, or rooms, and now its contact center, the company's unified communications platform is poised to evolve to meet the needs of its ever-expanding customer base.However, with decelerating growth rates that saw revenue increase only 21% in the fiscal 2022 fourth quarter -- compared to growth of 369% the same time last year -- Zoom has seen its stock punished.Now 70% below its 52-week highs, the market is pricing Zoom like it faces an existential crisis, but that couldn't be further from the truth. After generating $1.5 billion in free cash flow (FCF) over the last year, Zoom now trades at just 25 times FCF.Data by YCharts.Any time a company's price to free cash flow ratio approaches its sales growth rate as is the case here, it catches my attention as reasonably priced growth.Zoom's promising NPS, product optionality, and cheap FCF generation make it a prime sell-off stock to consider holding forever.DocuSignRounding out our trio of high NPS stocks is DocuSign ( DOCU 1.84% ) and its excellent score of +53. Led by its popular e-signature product, the company now has its eyes on expanding its broader Agreement Cloud offering.This Agreement Cloud consists of four key pillars: prepare, sign, act, and manage. As e-signature is by far DocuSign's most prominent product, it intends to use a land-and-expand business model to grow its sales.After getting its foot in the door with nearly 1.2 million customers thanks to its e-signature product, it now aims to build upon these relationships by offering anything and everything related to the agreement space.However, with DocuSign seeing its billings growth drop from 56% in fiscal 2021 to 37% in fiscal 2022, the market has sent the stock's price downward.It has also declined nearly 70% from its 52-week high, but this reaction from the market is starting to look overdone. Despite this slowdown in billings growth, DocuSign still posted 45% revenue growth last year and a good net dollar retention rate of 119% in the latest quarter.Net dollar retention measures how much DocuSign's existing customers grew their spending with anything above 100% showing expansion. As time passes, this metric will be vital to investors as it will highlight how the Agreement Cloud's growth is faring.Trading at 44 times free cash flow, DocuSign is the most expensive stock of this trio -- and the fastest growing. However, with its growth rate above its price to free cash flow, the stock still looks attractively priced after its sell-off and could be an excellent holding for long-term investors.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"ZM":0.9,"PINS":0.9,"DOCU":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":2845,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9034669431,"gmtCreate":1647876552515,"gmtModify":1676534274820,"author":{"id":"3582015738498025","authorId":"3582015738498025","name":"Azelia","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/44f8185952d41c4ad8e9dcacabe12506","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3582015738498025","idStr":"3582015738498025"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"like","listText":"like","text":"like","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":5,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9034669431","repostId":"1121958428","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1121958428","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1647860402,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1121958428?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2022-03-21 19:00","market":"us","language":"en","title":"3 Stocks Down 50% or More That Wall Street Thinks Could Nearly Double","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1121958428","media":"Motley Fool","summary":"Is the worst for the stock market over? Maybe, maybe not. There's no way to be certain yet if last week's rebound will continue or grind to a screeching halt.However, there are individual stocks that could be in store for much brighter days ahead if analysts are right. Here are three stocks down 50% or more that Wall Street thinks could double within the next 12 months.1. Sea LimitedSea Limited has lost roughly two-thirds of its market cap since October 2021. Wall Street expects a big comeback for the stock, though, with a 12-month price target reflecting an upside potential of around 95%.The main reason for Sea Limited's huge decline is that Chinese conglomerate Tencent(TCEHY6.42%)owns a significant stake in the company. India apparently banned Sea's top-selling mobile game Free Fire because of this connection with Tencent. There have also been concerns about the potential for the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission to delist Chinese stocks from U.S. exchanges.In addition to these issues, investors are worried about Sea's slowing growth. The company's 2022 guidance projected significantly lower revenue growth than in the past three years.So why is Wall Street still so bullish about Sea Limited? For one thing, analysts likely think the worries related to the company's connection with Tencent are overblown. More importantly, though, they probably think that Sea's Shopee e-commerce platform will continue to deliver strong growth for years to come.2. 10x Genomics10x Genomics is still down more than 60% from its peak set in early November 2021. But analysts really like this genomics stock. The consensus price target for 10x is nearly 85% higher than the current share price.The shift away from growth stocks in recent months has probably been the biggest factor behind 10x Genomics' dismal stock performance. However, the company also disappointed investors with its full-year 2022 revenue guidance.10x Genomics CEO Serge Saxonov said in the company's Q4 conference call that the prioritization of the development of the new Xenium platform for in situ (in the original tissue) analysis will delay the launches of other products. That's actually good news, though, because the decision to accelerate the plans for Xenium was due to heavy customer interest in the system.Wall Street's optimism about 10x seems well-placed. The company could be trading short-term pain for long-term gain.3. SoFi TechnologiesSoFi Technologies is the best-performing of these three stocks, down \"only\" 58% or so from its highs from less than five months ago. Analysts think that the fintech stock could bounce back in a big way, with the consensus 12-month price target reflecting an upside potential of around 78%.Unlike Sea Limited and 10x Genomics, SoFi beat expectations with its 2022 revenue guidance. However, investors have been worried that the student loan moratorium could yet again be pushed back. Since SoFi makes a significant chunk of its revenue from student loans, this wouldn't be good news for the company.On the other hand, SoFi received a bank charter earlier this year. This charter opens new doors for growth that Wall Street is likely counting on materializing over the next year.SoFi also recently announced plans to acquire Technisys for $1.1 billion. Technisys offers a digital banking platform that enables banks and fintech companies to quickly create tailored financial products. A 1994 agreement underpinning Ukrainian security failed to prevent Russian aggression against its neighbour.Although Moscow and Kyiv both said on Wednesday that they had made progress on the terms of a deal, Ukrainian officials remain sceptical Russian President Vladimir Putin is fully committed to peace and worry that Moscow could be buying time to regroup its forces and resume its offensive.Mykhailo Podolyak, a senior adviser to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, told the Financial Times that any deal would involve “the troops of the Russian Federation in any case leaving the territory of Ukraine” captured since the invasion began on February 24 — namely southern regions along the Azov and Black Seas, as well as territory to the east and north of Kyiv.Ukraine would maintain its armed forces but would be obliged to stay outside military alliances such as Nato and refrain from hosting foreign military bases on its territory.Putin’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Wednesday that neutrality for Ukraine based on the status of Austria or Sweden was a possibility.“This option is really being discussed now, and is one that can be considered neutral,” said Peskov.Sergei Lavrov, Russia’s foreign minister, said that “absolutely specific wordings” were “close to being agreed” in the negotiations.Despite the progress in peace talks, Ukrainian cities came under heavy shelling for a third consecutive night while Kyiv said it was launching a counter-offensive against Russian invaders.In a virtual address to members of Congress on Wednesday, Zelensky pleaded for the US to enforce a no-fly zone or provide fighter jets or other means to fend off Russia’s attack on his country, and impose harsher economic sanctions on Moscow.In a dramatic appeal, Zelensky said Ukraine needed America’s support after Russia had launched a “brutal offensive against our values”. He called on Americans to remember the attacks on Pearl Harbor and of September 2001 and showed a searing video of the missile attacks and shelling destroying Ukrainian cities.Though Ukraine’s constitution commits it to seeking membership of Nato, Zelensky and his aides have increasingly played down Ukraine’s chances of joining the transatlantic military alliance, a prospect that Russia sees as a provocation.“There is no effective system of European security now, which would be moderated by Nato. As soon as a serious war began in Europe, Nato quickly stepped aside,” Podolyak said.“We propose a ‘Ukrainian model of security guarantees,’ which implies the immediate and legally verified participation of a number of guarantor countries in the conflict on the side of Ukraine, if someone again encroaches on its territorial integrity,” he added.Ukraine, Podolyak added, would as part of any deal “definitely retain its own army”. He also played down the significance of a ban on foreign bases in Ukraine, saying that was already precluded by Ukrainian law.Two of the people said the putative deal also included provisions on enshrining rights for the Russian language in Ukraine, where it is widely spoken though Ukrainian is the only official language. Russia has framed its invasion as an attempt to protect Russian speakers in Ukraine from what it claims is “genocide” by “neo-Nazis”.Podolyak said “humanitarian issues, including language issues, are discussed only through the prism of Ukraine’s exclusive interests”.The biggest sticking point remains Russia’s demand that Ukraine recognise its 2014 annexation of Crimea and the independence of two separatist statelets in the eastern Donbas border region.Ukraine has so far refused but is willing to compartmentalise the issue, Podolyak said.“Disputed and conflict territories [are] in a separate case. So far, we are talking about a guaranteed withdrawal from the territories that have been occupied since the start of the military operation on February 24,” when Russia’s invasion began, he said.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{".DJI":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":2811,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9032664240,"gmtCreate":1647356710405,"gmtModify":1676534220269,"author":{"id":"3582015738498025","authorId":"3582015738498025","name":"Azelia","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/44f8185952d41c4ad8e9dcacabe12506","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3582015738498025","idStr":"3582015738498025"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"like","listText":"like","text":"like","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":5,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9032664240","repostId":"1111044126","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1111044126","kind":"news","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Stock Market Quotes, Business News, Financial News, Trading Ideas, and Stock Research by Professionals","home_visible":0,"media_name":"Benzinga","id":"1052270027","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/d08bf7808052c0ca9deb4e944cae32aa"},"pubTimestamp":1647346779,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1111044126?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2022-03-15 20:19","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Price Target Changes|NIKE Cut to $192 by Morgan Stanley; Ulta Beauty is Boosted to $469 by Barclays","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1111044126","media":"Benzinga","summary":"Wells Fargo cut the price target on Coupa Software Incorporated from $190 to $80. The electrification of consumer vehicles and enterprise fleets, and the desire by most countries to reduce their carbon footprints and halt climate change in its tracks, mean that we're witnessing the beginning of what could be a multidecade vehicle replacement cycle.According to a survey conducted late last year by KPMG, the average forecast of the more than 1,000 global auto leaders KPMG spoke to was for worldwide electric vehicle (EV) sales to reach roughly 50% of all autos sold by 2030. Meanwhile, a November report from Market Research Future calls for the EV industry to hit $957 billion in market value by 2030, which is more than quadruple its value at the end of 2021.Although investing in EV growth looks like a no-brainer opportunity, not all stocks associated with the electrification of autos will be winners. While I believe one name can be bought hand over fist (I'll get to this company in a bit), there are two EV stocks that should be avoided like the plague.Two all-electric Rivian R1Ts. Image source: Rivian Automotive.The first EV stock to avoid: Rivian AutomotiveOn the surface, Rivian Automotive (NASDAQ:RIVN), which was one of 2021's hottest initial public offerings (IPOs), looks like it has the tools to be successful. The company will offer three differentiated vehicles -- the R1T pickup truck, the R1S SUV, and the EDV electric van -- with planned annual capacity ranging from 200,000 vehicles at its Illinois factory to 400,000 at its Georgia plant. The latter is an estimated figure, with Rivian spending a cool $5 billion to build the factory. Production is anticipated to begin by 2024.Rivian also has an order for 100,000 EDVs from Amazon, which it received in 2019. The sheer size of this order has validated Rivian as a player of interest in the EV space for years.But the flipside to Rivian is that it's still very wet behind the ears. The company produced only 1,015 EVs in 2021 and had its IPO with no trailing-12-month sales. It missed an already low production bar for 2021, and will likely deal with the same supply chain constraints affecting the entire industry. In other words, Rivian's trajectory is bound to hit numerous speed bumps and potholes. It's par for the course when building an EV company from the ground up.Making matters worse, Rivian finds itself in hot water with the public after announcing, then walking back (for those who ordered before March 1), a price hike of $12,000 on its quad-motor models. Higher material costs are forcing automakers to boost prices. While Rivian was simply following the pack, a $12,000 price hike on vehicles that already cost $70,000 (or more) didn't sit well with customers. If Rivian isn't careful, it could price customers out of buying its vehicles.While Rivian could eventually grow into an investment-worthy company in the EV space, it has little business being valued at $45 billion.The all-electric Nikola Badger got the ax before it even rolled off the production line. Image source: Nikola.The second EV stock to avoid: NikolaWell before Rivian was the hottest thing in the EV space, Nikola (NASDAQ:NKLA) was making waves. It was one of many companies that went public via a special purpose acquisition company (SPAC). On June 9, 2020, Nikola hit an intraday high of nearly $94 a share. Unfortunately, those same shares were trading hands for $7 and change as of March 3, 2022.The initial buzz for Nikola had to do with its introduction of the Badger in February 2020. The Badger was to be a battery EV (BEV) or fuel-cell EV (FCEV) pickup truck with an estimated 600-mile range and a reasonably low $60,000 price tag. When coupled with Nikola's ambitions to also build BEV and FCEV semi trucks, Wall Street was enamored, at least initially, with the company's potential. Then the proverbial wheels fell off.Over the course of the next year and a half, the Badger would be shelved before it even rolled off the production line. This was due, in part, to Nikola being unable to land a manufacturing partner for the truck. Though it looked as if General Motors would step up and be that partner, an eventual agreement between the two companies didn't include the Badger.Worse yet, a handful of allegations of wrongdoing levied by short-side firm Hindenburg Research against Nikola proved to be true. An independent review found that pre-order figures were exaggerated. This resulted in a probe by the Securities and Exchange Commission, leading to former CEO Trevor Milton being indicted on three counts of fraud this past July.Today, Nikola is only just beginning to deliver its first BEV semi trucks. Even though it's received a couple of letter-of-intent orders during the fourth quarter for its semi trucks, it's not clear if the company has the capital necessary to ramp up production and ward off significant quarterly losses. When coupled with its damaged reputation, Nikola becomes an easy pass for investors.The newly introduced Nio ET7 EV sedan. Image source: Nio.The EV stock to buy hand over fist: NioOn the other end of the spectrum is Nio (NYSE:NIO), which checks all the appropriate boxes and can be bought hand over fist following its recent pullback.I'll freely admit that, a little over a year ago, I had Nio in the same camp as Nikola -- i.e., Avoid! Avoid! Avoid! At one point, Nio's valuation topped $90 billion with the company pacing for only around 20,000 EVs in production annually. Its valuation just didn't make any sense.However, management has really impressed with its ability to boost production in a challenging environment. Though the Chinese New Year held back production in February, and supply chain issues curbed output in January, Nio managed to top 10,000 deliveries in both November and December. Management has offered guidance suggesting that the company can hit 50,000 deliveries monthly by the end of the year. This would work out to an annual run-rate of around 600,000 EVs.Fueling this production surge is Nio's existing line of EVs, as well as the introduction of three new vehicles. Until now, the company's premium SUVs (the ES8 and ES6) and crossover EV (the ES6) have received plenty of interest. But the next wave of growth will come from the deliveries of the ET7 and ET5, which are EV sedans that take direct aim at Tesla's Model S and Model 3, respectively. With the top-tier battery option, Nio claims an estimated range of approximately 621 miles for its sedans.Furthermore, the battery-as-a-service (BaaS) program that was unveiled in August 2020 by management is pure genius. For buyers, BaaS lowers the initial purchase price of their vehicle and gives them the option to charge, swap, or upgrade their batteries at a later date. For Nio, it trades lower-margin near-term sales for high-margin fee-based revenue (buyers pay a monthly fee for the BaaS program) that keeps buyers loyal to the brand.And did I mention Nio is based in China, the world's largest auto market? The EV industry is still nascent in China, meaning market share is up for grabs.With Nio expected to turn the corner to recurring profitability next year, and the company valued at just seven times Wall Street's forecast earnings per share in 2024, it looks like a screaming buy.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"BEV":1,"EVS.SI":0.6,"NKLA":1,"NIO":1,"RIVN":1}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":3302,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0}],"defaultTab":"posts","isTTM":true}
