Tesla fell 1% in premarket trading.

Occidental Petroleum – Occidental gained 1.3% in the premarket following news that Berkshire Hathaway (BRKb) once again added to its stake in the energy producer. Berkshire bought 9.9 million more shares, boosting its stake to 17.4%.

Exxon Mobil – Exxon rose 1.3% in premarket trading following its late Friday announcement that second-quarter earnings could be as much as $18 billion. Exxon's results are getting a boost from rising oil and natural gas prices and higher refining margins.

Crocs – Crocs jumped 2.4% in premarket action after the casual shoe maker's stock was upgraded to "buy" from "hold" at Loop Capital.

Stellantis – Stellantis shares slid 6% in the premarket after a union workers report said the worldwide chip shortage could cut the automaker's Italy-based production by about 220,000 vehicles this year. Stellantis produced about 14% fewer vehicles during the first half of 2022 compared with the same period a year ago.

Hecla Mining – The mining company announced a deal to acquire all of the Alexco Resource shares it didn't already own in a stock swap transaction. Hecla will also pay Wheaton Precious Metals (WPM) $135 million to terminate its joint venture with Alexco. Hecla rose 1% in premarket action.

HP Inc. – The computer and printer maker’s shares fell 1.9% in premarket trading after Evercore downgraded the stock to “in line” from “outperform”. The downgrade comes amid a slowdown in demand for personal computers.

AstraZeneca – The drug maker announced a deal to buy biotech firm TeneoTwo in a deal that could be worth up to $1.17 million if certain milestones are reached. AstraZeneca fell 1.1% in the premarket.

Market News

Tesla Will Temporarily Shutter Its Factory in Brandenburg for Two Weeks

Tesla Inc will reportedly "interrupt" production at its Giga Berlin factory in Germany next week, as it looks to iron out speed and quality issues to achieve higher efficiency and meet surging demand for its electric vehicles.

Tesla has also reportedly canceled some Model Y deliveries in Germany, as its Brandenburg factory deals with manufacturing defects while aiming to ramp up production.

Citi Warns Oil May Collapse to $65 by the Year-End on Recession

Crude oil could collapse to $65 a barrel by the end of this year and slump to $45 by end-2023 if a demand-crippling recession hits, Citigroup Inc. has warned.

That outlook is based on an absence of any intervention by OPEC+ producers and a decline in oil investments, analysts including Francesco Martoccia and Ed Morse said in a report. A US downturn may well be modest, but it might also be long. Many observers expect any decline to be a lot less wrenching than the 2007-09 Great Financial Crisis and the back-to-back downturns seen in the 1980s, when inflation was last this high. The economy is simply not as far out of whack as it was in those earlier periods, they say.America's Post-WWII RecessionsSources: National Bureau of Economic Research, Bureau of Economic AnalysisNote: Dates denote starts of recessions. BEA lists 2001 as 0.5% rise in GDP.While the recession may be moderate, it could end up lasting longer than the abbreviated, eight-month contractions of 1990-91 and 2001. That’s because elevated inflation may hold the Federal Reserve back from rushing to reverse the downturn.“The good news is there’s a limit to how severe it’s going to be,” said Nomura Securities senior US economist Robert Dent. “The bad news is it’s going to be prolonged.” The former New York Fed analyst sees a roughly 2% contraction that begins in the fourth quarter and lasts through next year.No matter what shape the pullback takes, one thing seems certain: There will be a lot of hurt when it comes. In the dozen recessions since World War II, on average the economy contracted by 2.5%, unemployment rose about 3.8 percentage points and corporate profits fell some 15%. The average length was 10 months.Even a downturn on the shallower end of the spectrum would likely see hundreds of thousands of Americans -- at least -- lose their jobs. The batteredstock marketmay suffer a further fall as earnings drop. And President Joe Biden’s already poor pollratingscould take another hit.“This would be the sixth or seventh recession, I think, since I started doing this,” private-equity veteran Scott Sperling said. “Every one of them is somewhat different, and every one of them feels equally painful.”Signs of economic weakness are multiplying, with personalspendingfalling in May for the first time this year, after accounting for inflation, and a US manufacturing gauge hitting atwo-year lowin June. JPMorgan Chase & Co. chief US economist Michael Feroli responded to the latest data by cutting his mid-year growth forecasts “perilously closeto a recession.”The depth and length of the recession will largely be determined by how persistent inflation proves to be, and by how much pain the Fed is willing to inflict on the economy to bring it down to levels it deems acceptable.Inflation GenieAllianz SE chief economic adviser Mohamed El-Erian said he’s worried about a stop-go scenario akin to the 1970s, where the Fed prematurely eases policy in response to economic weakness before it has eradicated inflation from the system.Such a strategy would set the stage for a deeper economic decline down the road, and even greater inequality, the Bloomberg Opinion columnist said. El-Erian was out front in warning last year the Fed was making a big blunder by playing down the inflationary threat.“The Fed is not going to pause until they see that inflation has convincingly come down. That means that this Fed will be hiking well into economic weakness, likely prolonging the duration of the recession.”-- Anna Wong, chief US economistFor his part, Fed Chair Jerome Powell hasarguedthat while there’s a risk of a recession, the economy is still in good enough shape to withstand the Fed’s interest-rate hikes and dodge a downturn.A growing number of private economists aren’t convinced.“A faltering economy is all but inevitable,” said Lindsey Piegza, chief economist for Stifel Nicolaus & Co. “The question has moved beyond if we are going to see a recession to what’s the depth and duration of a downturn.”Just as happened some 40 years ago, the decline in gross domestic product will be driven by a central bank determined to rein in runaway consumer prices. The Fed’s favorite inflation gauge is more than triple its 2% objective. But there are good reasons to expect the outcome won’t be nearly as bad as the early 1980s, or the 2007-09 financial crisis -- episodes when unemployment soared to double-digit levels. As Goldman Sachs Group Inc. chief economist Jan Hatzius has noted, inflation isn’t as embedded in the economy or in Americans’ psyche as it was when Paul Volcker took the helm of the Fed in 1979 after a decade of persistently powerful price pressures. So it won’t take nearly as big of a slump for today’s Fed to bring price rises down to more acceptable levels.Prominent academic economist Robert Gordonreckonsthe Fed’s task today requires about half the amount of disinflation that Volcker had to put the economy through. What’s more, consumers, banks and the housing market are all better placed to weather economic turbulence than they were ahead of the 2007-09 recession.“Private-sector balance sheets are in good shape,” said Deutsche Bank Securities Inc. chief US economist Matthew Luzzetti. “We haven’t seen leverage taken out to the extent that we saw” ahead of the financial crisis. Thanks in part to hefty government handouts that boosted savings, household debt obligations amounted to just 9.5% of disposable personal income in the first quarter, according to Feddata. That’s well below the 13.2% seen in late 2007.Banks, for their part, recentlyacedthe Fed’s latest stress test, proving they have the wherewithal to withstand a nasty combination of surging unemployment, collapsing real-estate prices and a plunge in stocks.Housing MarketAnd while housing has been battered of late by the Fed-engineered surge in mortgage rates, it too is in a better place than 2006-07, when it was awash with supply due to a speculative building boom.Today the US is about 2 million housing units “short of what our demographic profile would suggest at this point,” said Doug Duncan, chief economist at Fannie Mae. “That puts a floor to some degree under how big a recession could be.”Duncan’s base case is for a sharp depreciation in home-price increases, but not an outright decline. In the labor market, an underlying shortage of workers -- thanks to baby boomers retiring and immigration lagging -- is likely to make companies more cautious about shedding staff in a downturn, especially if it’s a mild one.“The story of the past two years has been businesses struggling to find workers,” said Jay Bryson, chief economist for Wells Fargo’s Corporate and Investment Bank. “We don’t think you’re going to see mass layoffs.”Some economists say the next recession will prove long-lived, however, if the Fed holds back from riding to the economy’s rescue -- as it’s signaled it might if inflation stays stubbornly high.Powelltolda central banking conference last week that failing to restore price stability would be a “bigger mistake” than pushing the US into a recession.Fiscal policy will also be hamstrung -- and could well turn contractionary -- if Republicans win back power in Congress, as looks likely in November midterm elections. In an echo of what happened after the financial crisis, GOP lawmakers might use debt-limit standoffs to push for cuts in government spending. While not predicting a downturn, JPMorgan’s Feroli agreed a recession may be lengthy if one occurred. That would particularly be true if the Fed is again hampered from providing the economy with help by not being able to cut interest rates below zero.“We don’t think it will be a severe one but it could be a long one,” he said.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{".SPX":0.9,".IXIC":0.9,".DJI":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":2557,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9041531813,"gmtCreate":1656070433132,"gmtModify":1676535762372,"author":{"id":"3569303927346238","authorId":"3569303927346238","name":"ALEXNG88","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":12,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3569303927346238","idStr":"3569303927346238"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"[smile] ","listText":"[smile] ","text":"[smile]","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9041531813","repostId":"1131574561","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1131574561","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1656070303,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1131574561?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2022-06-24 19:31","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Is Netflix Stock at a Tipping Point?","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1131574561","media":"Motley Fool","summary":"Macroeconomic headwinds have hurt Netflix in 2022; the trend could turn around in the year's second half.","content":"
\n
Netflix stock has been experiencing a miserable run over the past six months. The streaming pioneer thrived in the early stages of the pandemic when folks were staying at home more often and demand for entertainment was surging. Meanwhile, the COVID-19 restrictions meant that the entire industry paused content creation, saving billions in cash for Netflix. Those ideal conditions have quickly vanished while headwinds are gaining momentum. Netflix went from adding millions of subscribers every quarter to now reporting losses. The stock is down 75% off its highs as a consequence. However, Netflix could be at a tipping point where investors may want to take notice.Investors fear subscriber losses will continueIn its most recent quarter, which ended on March 31, Netflix noted that it lost 200,000 subscribers from the quarter before. That was its first such quarterly decline in over 10 years. But what made matters worse was that Netflix forecast another loss in the second quarter of 10 times that magnitude. If it comes to fruition, the expected 2 million subscriber loss in Q2 will now make it a trend of subscriber losses rather than a one-off event. That is understandably spooking investors uncertain about how long or deep it will be.A meaningful part of the stock's decline is due to those fears. Therefore, if Netflix, in its next quarterly update, informs investors that it expects subscriber losses to subside and issues a forecast for millions of new customers in Q3, it could cause the stock to reverse higher. While the current quarter may not hold significant catalysts to boost subscriber growth, the next may be different. Inflation is biting into consumer budgets, forcing them to make the tough decisions on where to save money because they are paying more for necessities like food and gas.US CONSUMER PRICE INDEX YOY DATA BY YCHARTSAt less than $20 per month, Netflix is arguably an affordable entertainment option for families worldwide. In contrast, a visit to the movie theater could cost five times as much for a family of four (including concessions). And a concert, theme park, or sporting event could be multiples higher than even that amount. Of course, there are cheaper streaming service options, but Netflix has announced its own lower-priced, ad-supported tier that could be available this year.Macroeconomic conditions have been a significant headwind for Netflix in 2022; those look like they are at their nadir. The turnaround might be a tipping point that could send Netflix's stock higher.Netflix's cheap valuation could propel it higherNFLX PE RATIO DATA BY YCHARTSNetflix is trading at a price-to-earnings of 15.9, its lowest in the last five years. The cheap valuation suggests that once investors observe the turnaround in subscriber losses, the stock could jump in response. The longer-run trend is on Netflix's side with consumers canceling traditional cable subscriptions and streaming their content instead. The short-term headwinds are bound to subside; it appears a question of \"when not if.\" Rather than trying to time the bottom, investors may want to start adding a position in Netflix stock now.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"NFLX":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":3116,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9041271384,"gmtCreate":1656064572448,"gmtModify":1676535761566,"author":{"id":"3569303927346238","authorId":"3569303927346238","name":"ALEXNG88","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":12,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3569303927346238","idStr":"3569303927346238"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$Tiger Brokers(TIGR)$Up....","listText":"$Tiger Brokers(TIGR)$Up....","text":"$Tiger Brokers(TIGR)$Up....","images":[{"img":"https://community-static.tradeup.com/news/6cb672a4eb8e0201925039c21de1d66b","width":"1080","height":"1920"}],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":4,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9041271384","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":3095,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":1,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9041268922,"gmtCreate":1656058166166,"gmtModify":1676535760551,"author":{"id":"3569303927346238","authorId":"3569303927346238","name":"ALEXNG88","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":12,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3569303927346238","idStr":"3569303927346238"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$AMC Entertainment(AMC)$[What] [smile] ","listText":"$AMC Entertainment(AMC)$[What] [smile] ","text":"$AMC Entertainment(AMC)$[What] [smile]","images":[{"img":"https://community-static.tradeup.com/news/4e6d6b2614dc8bfe4ec8aa51dcdf97ac","width":"1080","height":"2450"}],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9041268922","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":2209,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":1,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9052311899,"gmtCreate":1655125106911,"gmtModify":1676535565719,"author":{"id":"3569303927346238","authorId":"3569303927346238","name":"ALEXNG88","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":12,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3569303927346238","idStr":"3569303927346238"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"[Happy] ","listText":"[Happy] ","text":"[Happy]","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9052311899","repostId":"1152501552","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1152501552","kind":"news","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Stock Market Quotes, Business News, Financial News, Trading Ideas, and Stock Research by Professionals","home_visible":0,"media_name":"Benzinga","id":"1052270027","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/d08bf7808052c0ca9deb4e944cae32aa"},"pubTimestamp":1655112075,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1152501552?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2022-06-13 17:21","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Tesla, Oracle, DiDi and More : U.S. Stocks To Watch","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1152501552","media":"Benzinga","summary":"Some of the stocks that may grab investor focus today are:Tesla has filed for a 3-for-1 stock split ","content":"

Some of the stocks that may grab investor focus today are:

Tesla has filed for a 3-for-1 stock split as part of its SEC filings for an upcoming annual meeting on last Friday.
