It ended the year at $495, up from $146 at the start. That was a staggering 239% gain! The conventional wisdom is that this epic rally has left Nvidia shares grossly overpriced. But has it?Explosive growthThere’s a war going on out there in AI, and Nvidia is the only arms dealer.Should you invest £1,000 in Nvidia right now? When investing expert Mark Rogers has a stock tip, it can pay to listen. After all, the flagship Motley Fool Share Advisor newsletter he has run for nearly a decade has provided thousands of paying members with top stock recommendations from the UK and US markets. And right now, Mark thinks there are 6 standout stocks that investors should consider buying. Want to see if Nvidia made the list?-Srini Pajjuri, analystGraphics processing units (GPUs) carry out multiple computations simultaneously, making them ideal for training artificial intelligence (AI) and deep learning models. With approximately 80% share of the AI chip and associated software market, Nvidia is guiding for full-year revenue of $59bn. That would be an incredible 118% increase over last year. Meanwhile, annual profits are set to quadruple.Based on forecast earnings for FY 2025 (starting February), the stock is trading on a forward price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio of 24. That’s cheaper than peers Intel (24.9) and Advanced Micro Devices (36). This is due to its far higher rate of growth.A forward-looking P/E multiple of 24 for a company powering the AI revolution doesn’t look excessive to me. For perspective, it’s the same as McDonald’s.Moreover, the price-to-earnings growth (PEG) ratio, which factors in the firm’s anticipated five-year rate of growth, is 0.5. For context, the S&P 500 index currently has a PEG ratio of around 1.5. This suggests the stock might even be undervalued.Of course, these metrics rest upon forecasts. Something could always throw a spanner in the earnings. Sanctions, for example.Geopolitical riskThe ongoing battle for technological supremacy between the US and China is well-documented. And Nvidia is already banned from exporting its higher-end chips to Chinese customers.China accounted for 21% of Nvidia’s revenue last year (FY 2023). The worst-case scenario is a complete ban on supplying products to this market. While that’s a concern, I don’t think it would be disastrous considering how big the global AI industry could eventually become. But it’s still worth pointing out.A massive market opportunityNvidia puts its total addressable market (TAM) at $1trn. Here’s how it breaks that down.Source: NvidiaIt’s generally wise for investors to take TAM projections with a large pinch of salt. Generally, that is, but not always.Nvidia was founded on the belief that a future of accelerated computing would rest upon GPUs. This is happening and nearly every blue chip around is partnering with it. So it’s plausible the firm might also be right about the size of these various markets.More importantly, the company has a tremendous record of execution to seize such opportunities. It’s one thing to identify huge growth markets, another to actually grasp them with both hands. Therefore, it wouldn’t surprise me if Nvidia’s products power multiple future industries like cloud gaming and autonomous vehicles. And I expect more businesses to rent use of the firm’s ‘AI supercomputer in the cloud’.I’ll invest then do nothingCEO Jensen Huang estimates that $1trn of installed global data centre infrastructure will transition from general-purpose to accelerated computing as companies apply generative AI into every product and service.Given this tantalising prospect, I’m looking to add to my holding in 2024, ideally on share price weakness. Then I’ll keep my shares for the long term.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"NVDA":1.1}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":2513,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":230055901855984,"gmtCreate":1697207913704,"gmtModify":1697207918383,"author":{"id":"4101342491315650","authorId":"4101342491315650","name":"KukuChiko","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"4101342491315650","idStr":"4101342491315650"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Rate hike will pause ","listText":"Rate hike will pause ","text":"Rate hike will pause","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/230055901855984","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":3977,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":211284736864408,"gmtCreate":1692608819857,"gmtModify":1692608822559,"author":{"id":"4101342491315650","authorId":"4101342491315650","name":"KukuChiko","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"4101342491315650","idStr":"4101342491315650"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$YANGZIJIANG SHIPBLDG HLDGS LTD(BS6.SI)$ <v-v data-views=\"0\"></v-v>","listText":"$YANGZIJIANG SHIPBLDG HLDGS LTD(BS6.SI)$ <v-v data-views=\"0\"></v-v>","text":"$YANGZIJIANG SHIPBLDG HLDGS LTD(BS6.SI)$","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/211284736864408","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":2941,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":191538422562864,"gmtCreate":1687771147176,"gmtModify":1687771150082,"author":{"id":"4101342491315650","authorId":"4101342491315650","name":"KukuChiko","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"4101342491315650","idStr":"4101342491315650"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$YANGZIJIANG SHIPBLDG HLDGS LTD(BS6.SI)$ <v-v data-views=\"1\"></v-v>win from CMA coming","listText":"$YANGZIJIANG SHIPBLDG HLDGS LTD(BS6.SI)$ <v-v data-views=\"1\"></v-v>win from CMA coming","text":"$YANGZIJIANG SHIPBLDG HLDGS LTD(BS6.SI)$ win from CMA coming","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/191538422562864","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":3177,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9979905597,"gmtCreate":1685412111619,"gmtModify":1685412117088,"author":{"id":"4101342491315650","authorId":"4101342491315650","name":"KukuChiko","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"4101342491315650","idStr":"4101342491315650"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"It is expected.","listText":"It is expected.","text":"It is expected.","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9979905597","repostId":"1141448324","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1141448324","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1685411682,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1141448324?lang=en_US&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2023-05-30 09:54","market":"sg","language":"en","title":"SATS Stock Slipped 4.7% As H2’s Bottom Line Down 16.7% to S$6 Million","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1141448324","media":"Simply Wall St","summary":"SATS stock slipped 4.7% as H2’s bottom line down 16.7% to S$6 million.SATS has reported a loss of $2","content":"

SATS stock slipped 4.7% as H2’s bottom line down 16.7% to S$6 million.

SATS has reported a loss of $26.5 million for FY2023 ended March 31, compared to the earnings of $20.4 million in the preceding FY2022.

The loss was attributable to the one-off expenses of $44.9 million from the merger and acquisition (M&A) of Worldwide Flight Services (WFS). S58)Investors have been ","content":"

Welcome to the latest edition of top stock market highlights.

SATS Ltd (SGX: S58)

Investors have been waiting with bated breath for news on SATS’ rights issue ever since the ground handler announced itsS$1.6 billion transformative acquisition.

Just this week, the airline food catering group finally announced the details of this rights issue.

A shareholder is entitled to subscribe to 323 rights shares for every 1,000 existing shares at an issue price of S$2.20 per rights share.

This issue price represents a 16% discount to the theoretical ex-rights price based on the closing price of S$2.75 for SATS before the announcement of the rights issue.

Temasek Holdings, which owns close to 40% of SATS, will take up its pro-rata entitlement to the rights issue while the remainder will be underwritten by five banks which include Singapore’s three local banks along withCitigroup(NYSE: C) andBank of America(NYSE: BAC).

SATS’ shares will trade cum rights up till 28 February and will go “ex-rights” on 1 March.

Investors should note that the total cost of the acquisition will be funded via this rights issue as well as the issuance of a three-year Euro-denominated bond of around S$700 million plus the group’s internal cash balance.

ARA US Hospitality Trust (SGX: XZL)

ARA US Hospitality Trust, or ARAHT, is a hospitality trust that owns 36 select-service hotels with 4,707 rooms across 19 states in the US.

The hotel brands include Hyatt Place and Hyatt House under theHyatt Hotels Corporation(NYSE: H), and AC Hotels, Courtyard, and Residence Inn, brands that are parked underMarriott International(NASDAQ: MAR).

ARAHT reported a sharp recovery for its 2022 results along with an increase in its portfolio’s valuation.

Revenue jumped 29.3% year on year to US$169 million as pent-up travel demand led to a surge in bookings for the trust’s hotels.

Net property income surged by 66.4% year on year to US$41.4 million and distributable income shot up more than eightfold year on year to US$17.5 million.

ARAHT’s distribution per stapled security (DPSS) soared 760% year on year from US$0.00355 to US$0.03054.

The trust also enjoyed stronger operating metrics, with the occupancy rate across its portfolio rising by 8.2 percentage points year on year to 65.3%.

Average Daily Rate climbed by 17.2% year on year to US$131 while revenue per available room climbed by 33.9% year on year to US$85.

To add icing to the cake, ARAHT’s portfolio also saw a 9.4% year on year valuation uplift to US$747.8 million.

The increase in asset value and a slight decline in total debt allowed the trust’s aggregate leverage to dip below 40% from 44.3% a year ago.

However, the cost of debt rose from 3.4% in 2021 to 3.8% in 2022, but ARAHT had 82% of its borrowings on fixed rates to mitigate the impact of higher finance costs.

Nanofilm Technologies International Ltd (SGX: MZH)

Nanofilm reported a tough 2022 as geopolitical tensions impacted supply chains and customers delayed their capital spending.

The group reported a 3.8% year on year dip in revenue to S$237.4 million.

Net profit, however, fell by 29.6% year on year to S$43.8 million due to higher selling, distribution, and administrative expenses.

Nanofilm’s core division, Advanced Materials, saw revenue dip by 3.6% year on year to S$187.2 million.

The decline was somewhat offset by a more than year on year doubling of revenue for its Nanofabrication business unit to S$19.1 million.

Its Industrial Equipment business unit, however, saw revenue plunge nearly 31% year on year to S$30.9 million as customers withheld orders because of uncertain business conditions.

Despite the poorer results, Nanofilm managed to generate a positive free cash flow of S$10.3 million for 2022, a reversal from the negative free cash flow of S$34.5 million in the previous year.

The group raised its finaldividendby 10% year on year to S$0.011 despite the weaker results.

Nanofilm has warned that 2023 will continue to be “challenging” but that it will continue to execute its strategic plans to grow the business to achieve its target of S$500 million in revenue and S$100 million in net profit by 2025.

Singapore’s inflation rate

The first month of 2023 has continued the trend ofhigh inflationwitnessed last year.

Singapore’s core inflation weighed in at 5.5% year on year for January and was at its highest level since November 2008.

The increase was driven by the rise in the Goods and Services Tax from 7% to 8%.

The headline inflation rate stood at 6.6%, slightly above the 6.5% recorded in December 2022.

Food inflation was the main culprit this time, posting an 8.1% year on year jump as the price of prepared meals surged.

Housing rents also played a part in pushing inflation higher, with the increase registering a 5% year on year jump in accommodation inflation.

Fortunately, the government has announced its recentBudget 2023which will help to partially offset the negative effects of inflation.

","source":"lsy1602567310727","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n<meta five banks which include Singapore’s three local banks along withCitigroup(NYSE: C) andBank of America(NYSE: BAC).SATS’ shares will trade cum rights up till 28 February and will go “ex-rights” on 1 March.Investors should note that the total cost of the acquisition will be funded via this rights issue as well as the issuance of a three-year Euro-denominated bond of around S$700 million plus the group’s internal cash balance.ARA US Hospitality Trust (SGX: XZL)ARA US Hospitality Trust, or ARAHT, is a hospitality trust that owns 36 select-service hotels with 4,707 rooms across 19 states in the US.The hotel brands include Hyatt Place and Hyatt House under theHyatt Hotels Corporation(NYSE: H), and AC Hotels, Courtyard, and Residence Inn, brands that are parked underMarriott International(NASDAQ: MAR).ARAHT reported a sharp recovery for its 2022 results along with an increase in its portfolio’s valuation.Revenue jumped 29.3% year on year to US$169 million as pent-up travel demand led to a surge in bookings for the trust’s hotels.Net property income surged by 66.4% year on year to US$41.4 million and distributable income shot up more than eightfold year on year to US$17.5 million.ARAHT’s distribution per stapled security (DPSS) soared 760% year on year from US$0.00355 to US$0.03054.The trust also enjoyed stronger operating metrics, with the occupancy rate across its portfolio rising by 8.2 percentage points year on year to 65.3%.Average Daily Rate climbed by 17.2% year on year to US$131 while revenue per available room climbed by 33.9% year on year to US$85.To add icing to the cake, ARAHT’s portfolio also saw a 9.4% year on year valuation uplift to US$747.8 million. The increase in asset value and a slight decline in total debt allowed the trust’s aggregate leverage to dip below 40% from 44.3% a year ago. However, the cost of debt rose from 3.4% in 2021 to 3.8% in 2022, but ARAHT had 82% of its borrowings on fixed rates to mitigate the impact of higher finance costs.Nanofilm Technologies International Ltd (SGX: MZH)Nanofilm reported a tough 2022 as geopolitical tensions impacted supply chains and customers delayed their capital spending. The group reported a 3.8% year on year dip in revenue to S$237.4 million.Net profit, however, fell by 29.6% year on year to S$43.8 million due to higher selling, distribution, and administrative expenses.Nanofilm’s core division, Advanced Materials, saw revenue dip by 3.6% year on year to S$187.2 million. The decline was somewhat offset by a more than year on year doubling of revenue for its Nanofabrication business unit to S$19.1 million. Its Industrial Equipment business unit, however, saw revenue plunge nearly 31% year on year to S$30.9 million as customers withheld orders because of uncertain business conditions.Despite the poorer results, Nanofilm managed to generate a positive free cash flow of S$10.3 million for 2022, a reversal from the negative free cash flow of S$34.5 million in the previous year. The group raised its finaldividendby 10% year on year to S$0.011 despite the weaker results.Nanofilm has warned that 2023 will continue to be “challenging” but that it will continue to execute its strategic plans to grow the business to achieve its target of S$500 million in revenue and S$100 million in net profit by 2025.Singapore’s inflation rateThe first month of 2023 has continued the trend ofhigh inflationwitnessed last year.Singapore’s core inflation weighed in at 5.5% year on year for January and was at its highest level since November 2008.The increase was driven by the rise in the Goods and Services Tax from 7% to 8%.The headline inflation rate stood at 6.6%, slightly above the 6.5% recorded in December 2022.Food inflation was the main culprit this time, posting an 8.1% year on year jump as the price of prepared meals surged.Housing rents also played a part in pushing inflation higher, with the increase registering a 5% year on year jump in accommodation inflation.Fortunately, the government has announced its recentBudget 2023which will help to partially offset the negative effects of inflation.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"S58.SI":0.9,"XZL.SI":0.9,"MZH.SI":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":2896,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9947319715,"gmtCreate":1682559807437,"gmtModify":1682559810739,"author":{"id":"4101342491315650","authorId":"4101342491315650","name":"KukuChiko","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"4101342491315650","idStr":"4101342491315650"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"<a SGX's cash-equity business is likely to continue to underperform amid slowing global economic growth, with RHB lowering its FY 2023 estimate for SGX's securities daily average value by 3%. Also, delays in major new equity listings amid low market valuations further reduce room for a sharp increase in SGX's SDAV, says RHB, which trims its FY 2023-2025 profit estimates for SGX by 3%. Although there’s plenty to like for those with a patient outlook, most investors will probably want to keep the powder keg dry for a far superior entry point into SE stock.Sea Limited was one of the more-discussed foreign investments even prior to the novel coronavirus pandemic. But SE stock truly came alive when the coronavirus forced countless numbers of workers into their homes. Thanks to the underlying emphasis on connected services, though, Sea Limited was among the lucky few entities that benefitted from the catastrophe. However, now SE stock is down nearly 45% on a year-to-date (YTD) basis. In turn, investors who missed out on the first ticket to party down are doing some serious thinking. Fundamentally, the underlying narrative hasn’t changed. Instead, what did change were factors outside of Sea’s control, particularly blistering tensions in eastern Europe and the Federal Reserve’s rumored response to soaring consumer inflation.Still, the problem is that SE stock is down 45% YTD. Whether by the underlying company’s own doing or by external factors, a security losing that much market value over a short period is always a cause for concern. While I certainly don’t represent the final word on the discipline of technical analysis, presumably most adherents to the methodology would warn investors away from SE stock at the present juncture. Essentially, the current price action (following a devastating erosion) is too pensive, implying a lack of confidence among bulls to bolster SE stock shares. Therefore, I’m not gung-ho about buying the security at the moment. But should the volatility finally dissipate, investors ought to consider switching sides.Compelling Market Undergirds SE StockOne of the lessons that we all learned about the recent geopolitical flashpoints that contributed to the global market meltdown is the liability of dependency. For instance, the primary reason why President Joe Biden’s administration is concerned about Russia’s possible planned invasion of Ukraine is that it sparks a new world order. As New York Times columnist David Leonhardt wrote recently, “If the world is entering an era in which countries again make decisions based, above all, on what their military power allows them to do, it would be a big change.” In other words, forget laws, principles and treaties: if you’ve got the tanks and other military hardware, you can invade and colonize lesser-equipped nations at will. Therefore, SE stock is one of the most holistic long-term plays available, in my humble opinion. For one thing, Southeast Asia is fertile ideological ground, with the U.S. and western allies having a clear opportunity to turn the region into a counterweight against China’s increasing influence on the world stage.More importantly, Southeast Asia is perhaps the next big thing when it comes to global investing opportunities. According to data compiled by Statista.com, in 2021, “the internet economy size across Southeast Asia was valued at approximately 174 billion U.S. dollars. This was forecasted to increase dramatically by 2025, in which the internet economy in Southeast Asia was expected to reach 363 billion U.S. dollars.”Of course, anyone can make projections. But the beautiful part for SE stock is that the overwhelming consensus calls for the region to command serious growth. As proof, Reuters noted that Southeast Asia’s internet economy could reach $1 trillion by 2030. Providing the impetus for such a forecast is increased embracement of online shopping and food delivery services.Play the Waiting GameDespite the lucrative potential that SE stock features, I’ll repeat the same principle mentioned above; basically, you don’t want to fight the tape. Whether it’s the Russia-Ukraine conflict, inflation, Covid-19 or some other headwind, Wall Street is very concerned about economic viability. Therefore, waiting it out for clarity would likely be the wisest move. How far could shares tumble? I don’t want to sound alarmist but a return back to approximately the $60 level wouldn’t be out of the question if circumstances go awry. With everything going bonkers over the last two years, I’m in no hurry to make drastic moves with my money. But once enough risk has been taken off the table and following a technical stabilization of SE stock, it would be one of my top speculative ideas to consider.
