The good times of Tesla is over! Many retailers are bleeding and losing confidence of it. It will not likely to recover in 2023 provided it has some positive news emerging. Advice to stay away till it reaches $110.

Investor","summary":"Gunning for higher dividends? Here are five stocks that upped their dividends by 20% or more.","content":"

Receiving dividends directly into your bank account is guaranteed to make you happy.

But there is one thing even better – seeing the dividends from your stocks increase.

Armed with the same number of shares, you can see your stream of passive income rise steadily over time.

For this increase to happen, the company in question should enjoy higher profits and cash flows that will enable it to pay out more to its shareholders.

Here are five Singapore stocks that recently upped their dividends by an impressive 20% or higher.

UMS Holdings Limited (SGX: 558)

UMS provides equipment manufacturing and engineering services to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) of semiconductors and related products.

For the first quarter of 2024 (1Q 2024), the group saw its revenue tumble by a third year on year to S$54 million because of weak demand within the semiconductor sector.

Net profit plunged by 44% year on year to S$9.8 million.

However, UMS generated a positive free cash flow of S$2.7 million for 1Q 2024.

Despite the weaker results, the group upped its dividend by 20% year on year to S$0.012.

Looking ahead, management is confident of its prospects as the group added a new customer that will bring in more business.

UMS also completed its 300,000-square-foot factory in Penang for RM 250 million.

The new customer, a global chip giant, was impressed by this new facility and expressed the desire to deepen the business relationship.

According to SEMI, signs are pointing to a return to growth for the semiconductor industry with analysts projecting a 9% to 16% year on year increase in semiconductor global revenue.

iFAST Corporation Limited (SGX: AIY)

iFAST is a financial technology company that operates platforms such as FundSupermart and FSMOne for the buying and selling of unit trusts, shares, and bonds.

The fintech reported a sparkling set of earnings for 1Q 2024.

Total revenue jumped 59.4% year on year to S$86 million with continued contributions from iFAST’s Hong Kong ePension project as well as improvements in the group’s core wealth management platform business.

Operating profit catapulted more than fourfold year on year to S$18.5 million while net profit soared 387.4% year on year to S$14.5 million.

In line with the robust earnings, management declared an interim dividend of S$0.013, up 30% from the S$0.01 paid out a year ago.

The group’s assets under administration also hit a new record of S$21.05 billion, up 16% from S$18.14 billion in 1Q 2023.

Looking ahead, iFAST expects 2024’s revenue and profit to see robust growth compared to 2023.

Its iFAST Global Bank division is also expected to become an important growth driver in 2025 and beyond.

United Overseas Bank (SGX: U11)

United Overseas Bank, or UOB, is the third-largest bank in Singapore.

The lender reported a strong set of earnings for 2023 and raised its final dividend to S$0.85.

2023’s total dividend came up to S$1.70 per share, a 26% year-on-year increase from the S$1.35 paid last year.

Although UOB’s core net profit dipped slightly by 1% year on year to S$1.57 billion for 1Q 2024, the bank remains well-positioned to benefit from higher-for-longer interest rates.

CEO Wee Ee Cheong reported that the group’s Citigroup (NYSE: C) acquisition is proceeding well.

Integration is completed in Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia with Vietnam set to complete the integration by next year.

UOB expects low single-digit loan growth along with double-digit fee growth for 2024, with total income expected to see positive growth.

Singapore Post Limited (SGX: S08)

Singapore Post, or SingPost, is Singapore’s sole postal service provider.

The group is also an e-commerce logistics provider serving customers in more than 220 global destinations.

Although SingPost’s revenue declined from S$1.87 billion to S$1.69 billion for fiscal 2024 (FY2024) ending 31 March 2024, net profit shot up to S$81.5 million from S$38.8 million a year ago.

The increase in profit was because of an exceptional gain of S$36.8 million on property revaluation.

Excluding this, SingPost’s core net profit still improved by 28.1% year on year to S$41.5 million.

A final dividend of S$0.0056 was proposed, taking FY2024’s dividend to S$0.0074 for a 28% year-on-year increase.

Management will continue to execute the group’s strategic plans over the next three years that were unveiled at its recently announced strategic review.

These include selective divestments of non-core assets and achieving scale in Australia by finding suitable partners.

SingPost also plans to expand its cross-border networks and look for partners for its international business.

Singtel (SGX: Z74)

Singtel is Singapore’s largest telecommunication company and like SingPost, the blue-chip group also announced a mixed set of results.

Operating revenue dipped by 3% year on year to S$14.1 billion but net profit was impacted by an exceptional loss of S$1.47 billion that caused it to plunge 64% year on year to S$795 million.

Excluding this item, underlying net profit would have risen by 10% year on year to S$2.26 billion as the telco saw increased regional associate contributions and enjoyed higher interest income.

Free cash flow stayed fairly constant at S$2.6 billion for FY2024.

Singtel will pay a total of S$0.15 in dividends for FY2024, a sharp 52% year on year increase from FY2023’s S$0.099.

The higher dividend is partially funded by a new value realisation dividend from the proceeds of capital recycling initiatives by the group.

Looking ahead, Singtel also released a Singtel28 plan featuring value-creation initiatives that seek to improve both profits and dividends.

","source":"thesmartinvestor_highlight","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" million because of weak demand within the semiconductor sector.Net profit plunged by 44% year on year to S$9.8 million. However, UMS generated a positive free cash flow of S$2.7 million for 1Q 2024.Despite the weaker results, the group upped its dividend by 20% year on year to S$0.012.Looking ahead, management is confident of its prospects as the group added a new customer that will bring in more business.UMS also completed its 300,000-square-foot factory in Penang for RM 250 million. The new customer, a global chip giant, was impressed by this new facility and expressed the desire to deepen the business relationship.According to SEMI, signs are pointing to a return to growth for the semiconductor industry with analysts projecting a 9% to 16% year on year increase in semiconductor global revenue.iFAST Corporation Limited (SGX: AIY) iFAST is a financial technology company that operates platforms such as FundSupermart and FSMOne for the buying and selling of unit trusts, shares, and bonds. The fintech reported a sparkling set of earnings for 1Q 2024.Total revenue jumped 59.4% year on year to S$86 million with continued contributions from iFAST’s Hong Kong ePension project as well as improvements in the group’s core wealth management platform business.Operating profit catapulted more than fourfold year on year to S$18.5 million while net profit soared 387.4% year on year to S$14.5 million. In line with the robust earnings, management declared an interim dividend of S$0.013, up 30% from the S$0.01 paid out a year ago.The group’s assets under administration also hit a new record of S$21.05 billion, up 16% from S$18.14 billion in 1Q 2023.Looking ahead, iFAST expects 2024’s revenue and profit to see robust growth compared to 2023.Its iFAST Global Bank division is also expected to become an important growth driver in 2025 and beyond.United Overseas Bank (SGX: U11)United Overseas Bank, or UOB, is the third-largest bank in Singapore. The lender reported a strong set of earnings for 2023 and raised its final dividend to S$0.85.2023’s total dividend came up to S$1.70 per share, a 26% year-on-year increase from the S$1.35 paid last year.Although UOB’s core net profit dipped slightly by 1% year on year to S$1.57 billion for 1Q 2024, the bank remains well-positioned to benefit from higher-for-longer interest rates.CEO Wee Ee Cheong reported that the group’s Citigroup (NYSE: C) acquisition is proceeding well.Integration is completed in Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia with Vietnam set to complete the integration by next year.UOB expects low single-digit loan growth along with double-digit fee growth for 2024, with total income expected to see positive growth.Singapore Post Limited (SGX: S08)Singapore Post, or SingPost, is Singapore’s sole postal service provider. The group is also an e-commerce logistics provider serving customers in more than 220 global destinations.Although SingPost’s revenue declined from S$1.87 billion to S$1.69 billion for fiscal 2024 (FY2024) ending 31 March 2024, net profit shot up to S$81.5 million from S$38.8 million a year ago.The increase in profit was because of an exceptional gain of S$36.8 million on property revaluation.Excluding this, SingPost’s core net profit still improved by 28.1% year on year to S$41.5 million.A final dividend of S$0.0056 was proposed, taking FY2024’s dividend to S$0.0074 for a 28% year-on-year increase.Management will continue to execute the group’s strategic plans over the next three years that were unveiled at its recently announced strategic review. These include selective divestments of non-core assets and achieving scale in Australia by finding suitable partners.SingPost also plans to expand its cross-border networks and look for partners for its international business.Singtel (SGX: Z74)Singtel is Singapore’s largest telecommunication company and like SingPost, the blue-chip group also announced a mixed set of results.Operating revenue dipped by 3% year on year to S$14.1 billion but net profit was impacted by an exceptional loss of S$1.47 billion that caused it to plunge 64% year on year to S$795 million.Excluding this item, underlying net profit would have risen by 10% year on year to S$2.26 billion as the telco saw increased regional associate contributions and enjoyed higher interest income.Free cash flow stayed fairly constant at S$2.6 billion for FY2024.Singtel will pay a total of S$0.15 in dividends for FY2024, a sharp 52% year on year increase from FY2023’s S$0.099.The higher dividend is partially funded by a new value realisation dividend from the proceeds of capital recycling initiatives by the group.Looking ahead, Singtel also released a Singtel28 plan featuring value-creation initiatives that seek to improve both profits and dividends.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":307,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":235250921328848,"gmtCreate":1698467006498,"gmtModify":1698469357056,"author":{"id":"4101090498243360","authorId":"4101090498243360","name":"吉祥TC","avatar":"https://community-static.tradeup.com/news/06f173ae2c7f8e208e77495cd9e0ac6a","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4101090498243360","authorIdStr":"4101090498243360"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Middle The pullback started in mid-June, as AMD's momentum was built into its highly anticipated AI event.

Wall Street analysts attempted to link the lack of a flagship customer for its newly-launched MI300 series AI chips to the selloff. However, AMD also assured investors that their AI accelerators are ready for sampling in Q3 before volume production in Q4. Hence, I assessed that the reasons cited likely aren't sufficient enough to justify the pullback.

Instead, my readers should recall my previous update, where I cautioned investors to be patient as AMD's valuation and price action were no longer constructive.

With the steep pullback as AMD fell nearly 20% from its mid-June highs, I believe it's a reasonable time for me to provide an update on whether the current levels are attractive.

I assessed that AMD's valuation is less aggressive than its frothy levels four weeks ago but still not undervalued. I gleaned that it seems, at best, fairly valued, which is also supported by Seeking Alpha Quant's valuation rating of "C-."

However, with industry-leading growth, profitability, and momentum grades of "A-," some investors could consider the opportunity in AMD as reasonable, despite its fair valuation.

I believe there are sufficient reasons for investors to pay closer attention to AMD's opportunities now. AMD highlighted that its AI chips are ready for ramp mode in Q4, suggesting that the company is confident of its roadmap in taking on market share leader Nvidia.

Moreover, supply chain sources also corroborate the confidence in CEO Dr. Lisa Su and her team as they are getting ready to support AMD's growth inflection in the final quarter.

Foundry partner Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing (TSM), or TSMC, is reportedly preparing for more CoWoS advanced packaging capacity, which is critical for the fabrication of the AI accelerators. DIGITIMES reported that TSMC's "monthly CoWoS capacity is expected to increase from 8,000 wafers to 11,000 wafers in the second half of 2023." In addition, "Nvidia and AMD are projected to absorb 70-80% of the capacity."

As such, TSMC's focus on ramping up its advanced packaging capacity for its design partners is critical, as there were suggestions that TSMC could lack sufficient ability to meet near-term AI chip demand needs. As such, it's possible that the elevated expectations over AMD and Nvidia's growth inflection could have been overstated, leading to a steeper pullback if the market anticipates the earnings accretion might not pan out in the second half.

Despite that, AMD's backend supply chain is reportedly optimistic about its ability to support AMD's AI chips and its 4th Gen EPYC processors. It was reported that "AMD's backend supply chain is scheduled to start working on the new chips in July," which should align well with the company's production cadence and revenue accretion as guided.

Therefore, I believe it likely all boils down to the market's expectations of AMD's execution prowess in the second half through 2024 on whether the company could gain a more solid foothold in the AI chips market. There are concerns that the server market could see much slower shipment growth in 2023 compared to FY22. In addition, higher-priced AI servers could also lead to lower shipments, requiring revenue accretion to be focused on ASPs increases.

While AMD reportedly launched superior AI chip hardware specifications than Nvidia's H100, whether its open-source software ecosystem could compete effectively against Nvidia's proprietary approach remains to be seen. For now, I assessed that these uncertainties would likely dampen further upward re-rating on AMD's valuation. However, that also suggests that it could provide an attractive opportunity for high-conviction investors who have faith in AMD's execution in working out these challenges and gaining share against Nvidia.

AMD price chart (weekly) (TradingView)

AMD has retraced closer to its 20-week moving average or MA (red line), close to the $100 entry zone.

I expect more buyers to return at those levels, which should help to underpin AMD's buying sentiments. However, the aggressive buy zone could be lower if the tech rotation turns out to be more intense than expected. As such, investors should be prepared to average down further at lower levels.

Investors already with heavy/full exposure to AMD can consider adding at lower levels, while investors with little or no exposure should still find the $100 entry zone attractive.

With that, I upgrade my rating on AMD.

Rating: Buy (Revised from Hold).

Important note: Investors are reminded to do their own due diligence and not rely on the information provided as financial advice. In recent days, however, Tesla's shares have seen new selling pressure related to Tesla's Q1'23 earnings release and Elon Musk's comments about future EV price cuts. These cuts could lead to long term market share gains, but they also pose a short term risk of resulting in smaller operating income margins... which continued to contract in Q1'23. Elon Musk recently made comments about Tesla's pricing strategy, indicating that the company may further lower prices in order to grow revenues.

Revenue growth is extremely important for Tesla because the company is seen chiefly as a growth stock. However, due to Tesla's aggressive pricing strategy, which saw the 6th round of recent price cuts just before earnings, could potential further weigh on the EV company's short term profitability outlook. Tesla lowered the prices for the Model Y by 6% and for the Model 3 by 5%. Tesla's margins are also at risk of further eroding if Tesla follows through with this strategy: the company's GAAP gross margin slumped from 29.1% in the year-earlier period to 19.3% in Q1'23, showing a decline of nearly 10 PP.

Tesla's operating margins fell almost 8 PP year over year to 11.4% and I do see elevated margin risks for Tesla if Elon Musk continues to push for price cuts.

Source: Tesla

Tesla's operating margins are still solid when compared to the broader auto sector. However, the 10% share price drop on Thursday seems exaggerated to me and I have bought the drop again at ~$165, effectively restarting a new position in the EV company. I believe the valuation is attractively chiefly because of Tesla's aggressive focus to grow revenues which may grow even faster than what the current consensus indicates.

Analysts currently estimate that Tesla could generate revenues of $100.4B in FY 2023 and $131.0B in FY 2024, implying a year over year growth rate of 30%. In FY 2023, Tesla is expected to grow revenues 23%, so analysts expect an acceleration of growth to occur which relates to the continual scaling of Tesla's Model 3 and Y production, but also to the beginning ramp of the Cybertruck which is expected to hit the market in the middle of FY 2023. However, with Tesla pursuing an aggressive pricing strategy, revenue may grow even more rapidly than the 30% growth rate implied by analysts' top line estimates.

Data by YCharts

Based off of current top line estimates, Tesla is valued at 4.0X FY 2024 revenues, but investors currently get a 39% discount to the company's 1-year average P/S ratio. Tesla achieved a P/S ratio as high as 10.4X within the last year, so I believe shares have considerable re-rating potential once investors are prepared to move on from the price cut announcement.

Data by YCharts

Compared against other US-based EV companies, Tesla is still the best deal in the industry, in my opinion, despite a slightly higher P/S ratio. This is because the EV company has an unparalleled size and scale and Tesla has already achieved considerable net income profitability. Other companies like Lucid Group (LCID) and Rivian Automotive (RIVN) are still in the start-up phase and are deeply earnings and free cash flow negative.

Data by YCharts

Risks with Tesla

The biggest commercial risk for Tesla right now is that the company's operating margins will continue to erode in order for Tesla to spur revenue growth and gain market share. This could be a risky strategy for the company, especially if other EV manufacturers follow suit and lower their product prices, which, in the worst-case, could lead to an escalating price war in the EV segment where margins are already low. Tesla is the leading global EV brand, but weaker margins are unlikely to win the cheers of investors and may ultimately hurt Tesla's profitability.

Final thoughts

I believe investors should see last week's 10% price correction as a strong buying opportunity now that investors have become more fearful again. While it is true that Tesla is going to pay for stronger revenue growth with lower profits in the short term, it could be a successful strategy to drive electric vehicle demand and therefore lead to market share gains. Since Tesla, as opposed to many other start-ups in the EV industry, is already profitable, the company can afford an aggressive pricing strategy. Since shares of Tesla once again dropped and fear has affected the market again, I believe this 10% sell-off is a new opportunity to capitalize on this fear. The time for me to sell shares of Tesla, again, will be when the market turns super bullish on the EV company and investors are euphoric.

","source":"seekingalpha","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Tesla: Buy The Fear, Sell The Hype, Rinse And Repeat
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nTesla: Buy The Fear, Sell The Hype, Rinse And Repeat\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2023-04-24 23:22 GMT+8 Seekingalpha\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
SummaryTesla's earnings release for Q1'23 resulted in a 10% share price drop. After selling out of Tesla in February, I am rebuying Tesla at a much more attractive valuation.Tesla is set to continue to...
\n\nWeb Link\n\n
\n\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n","type":0,"thumbnail":"","relate_stocks":{},"source_url":"https://seekingalpha.com/article/4595961-tesla-buy-fear-sell-hype-rinse-repeat","is_english":true,"share_image_url":"https://static.laohu8.com/5a36db9d73b4222bc376d24ccc48c8a4","article_id":"1156592135","content_text":"SummaryTesla's earnings release for Q1'23 resulted in a 10% share price drop. After selling out of Tesla in February, I am rebuying Tesla at a much more attractive valuation.Tesla is set to continue to dominate the EV market due to its large size and scale, but short-term profitability risks have risen.Tesla Shanghai GigafactoryAfter Tesla's valuation soared more than 100% between January 2023 and February 2023, I recommended investors to sell the EV company's shares as there was a clear risk of an overheating stock price rally -- Tesla: Take Profits When Others Are Greedy. Tesla achieved a P/S ratio as high as 10.4X within the last year, so I believe shares have considerable re-rating potential once investors are prepared to move on from the price cut announcement.Data by YChartsCompared against other US-based EV companies, Tesla is still the best deal in the industry, in my opinion, despite a slightly higher P/S ratio. This is because the EV company has an unparalleled size and scale and Tesla has already achieved considerable net income profitability. Other companies like Lucid Group (LCID) and Rivian Automotive (RIVN) are still in the start-up phase and are deeply earnings and free cash flow negative.Data by YChartsRisks with TeslaThe biggest commercial risk for Tesla right now is that the company's operating margins will continue to erode in order for Tesla to spur revenue growth and gain market share. This could be a risky strategy for the company, especially if other EV manufacturers follow suit and lower their product prices, which, in the worst-case, could lead to an escalating price war in the EV segment where margins are already low. Tesla is the leading global EV brand, but weaker margins are unlikely to win the cheers of investors and may ultimately hurt Tesla's profitability.Final thoughtsI believe investors should see last week's 10% price correction as a strong buying opportunity now that investors have become more fearful again. The time for me to sell shares of Tesla, again, will be when the market turns super bullish on the EV company and investors are euphoric.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":564,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9944708372,"gmtCreate":1682076807997,"gmtModify":1682076946721,"author":{"id":"4101090498243360","authorId":"4101090498243360","name":"吉祥TC","avatar":"https://community-static.tradeup.com/news/06f173ae2c7f8e208e77495cd9e0ac6a","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4101090498243360","authorIdStr":"4101090498243360"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$Tesla Motors(TSLA)$ <v-v data-views=\"0\"></v-v>[喷血] [惊吓] bad luck , shit luck for Tesla in 2023. While deliveries grew nicely year over year, it apparently wasn't enough to excite Wall Street. As analysts digested the report, their published viewpoints on the update have been mixed. Some analysts were pleased with the 36% year-over-year growth. But others admitted that the nearly 423,000 deliveries were underwhelming.

In this article, we'll take a look at one of the more bearish analyst takes following Tesla's update on production and deliveries. One analyst reiterated an underperform rating for the stock and a $150 12-month price target. Here's what's behind his pessimistic view for the growth stock.

More price cuts to come?

Earlier this year, Tesla rolled out major price cuts for its vehicle lineup. This sparked concerns in the media about potential demand softening. But Tesla CEO Elon Musk said in the company's fourth-quarter earnings call that the lower prices were driving a significant surge in orders.

Investors ultimately warmed up to the idea of price cuts, evidenced by the stock's soaring price year to date. Further, part of the price cut was essentially giving back price increases that occurred in the prior year, as higher costs led Tesla to raise prices on its vehicles. As some of Tesla's costs started to normalize more recently, it made sense for the company to pass those savings on to customers through reduced prices. After all, lower prices do typically drive higher unit sales.

But Bernstein analyst Toni Sacconaghi thinks that there are more price cuts to come. He notes that Tesla's vehicle inventory, while still low, has been growing. Further, the wait time between a new order of a Tesla vehicle in the U.S. and the expected delivery window is currently low on all models except Tesla's Model Y, Sacconaghi says. He thinks these things point to signs of a tough demand environment, and potentially more price increases later this year.

With expectations for more price cuts, Bernstein thinks shares are overvalued. His 12-month price target of $150 for the stock implies nearly 23% downside from where the stock is trading at the time of this writing.

There's a good explanation for more inventory

While Sacconaghi's take is worth taking into consideration, investors should note that there's a good reason for Tesla's inventory build. The company explained in its fourth-quarter update that it has been working toward a gradual shift toward a more balanced regional mix of production and deliveries throughout the year. This effort could have led to some inventory build as Tesla prioritizes lower costs over delivery speed when it comes to shipping its vehicles. Given Tesla's effort to better balance and optimize its vehicle shipment process, its inventory of vehicles will likely gradually increase throughout the year.

With this said, more price cuts are certainly possible. If any do occur, investors may want to look for answers from management in earnings calls throughout the year.

","source":"fool_stock","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Tesla Stock: Headed to $150?
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nTesla Stock: Headed to $150?\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2023-04-05 06:30 GMT+8 Motley Fool\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
KEY POINTSFollowing Tesla's first-quarter vehicle deliveries update, this analyst thinks the stock will underperform. The analyst's price target for the growth stock suggests shares could lose more ...
\n\nWeb Link\n\n
\n\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n","type":0,"thumbnail":"","relate_stocks":{},"source_url":"https://www.fool.com/investing/2023/04/04/tesla-stock-headed-to-150/","is_english":true,"share_image_url":"https://static.laohu8.com/e9f99090a1c2ed51c021029395664489","article_id":"2324887333","content_text":"KEY POINTSFollowing Tesla's first-quarter vehicle deliveries update, this analyst thinks the stock will underperform. The analyst's price target for the growth stock suggests shares could lose more than a fifth of their value. But is the analyst's concern about Tesla's growing inventory fair?Shares of Tesla tanked on Monday, following the company's release of its first-quarter vehicle production and deliveries data. If you recognize that and plan for it appropriately, you can make it through a mere market crash -- and emerge on the other side in a great spot to ride any subsequent recovery.

With that in mind, here are four reasons not to worry about a stock-market crash.

1. You don't need to sell your stocks today

As a general rule, you should not have money invested in stocks that you expect you'll need to spend within the next five years. If you have followed that guideline, it becomes much easier to stomach a market crash. It's still not fun, but you can make it through.

After all, if you don't need the money immediately, then you don't have to sell shares when they're low just to cover your bills. That gives you the chance to not only hold on through a crash, but also to potentially add more to strong companies while they're near their cheapest. The ability to buy low -- instead of selling low -- allows you to end up in a better spot once the crash passes.

2. You have emergency money stocked away, just in case

One of the bigger risks most people face when the market crashes isn't the crash itself, but rather the fact that a down market is often linked to job losses. Even if you fully intend to hold on to your stocks through a crash, if you find yourself without a paycheck and with no cash buffer, you could wind up needing to sell due to that job loss.

A three- to six-month emergency fund buys you time to both look for another job and figure out ways to cut costs before you feel forced to sell your shares. It's a buffer that can come in incredibly handy in a tough environment. It's also one of those things that you hope you'll never have to use -- but if you do, you'll be incredibly glad it's there when you need it.

3. You own strong companies that still pay their dividends

The beauty of a stock's dividend is that it tends to get paid based on the underlying company's ability to generate cash, rather than on the stock market's short-term mood. When companies continue to pay their dividends in a down market, that helps investors in a number of ways.

First, the cash itself can be used to buy more shares while they're down -- either of the company that paid the dividend, or of a different one that looks like a compelling value at a low price. That cash becomes available without you having to sell stock or somehow scaring up money from another source, which can be comforting if you're a bit nervous about the future.

Second, the fact that companies continue to make their payments from available cash flows can provide a calming effect for investors, even as the market appears to panic around them. After all, there's nothing quite like cold, hard cash to remind people that there's a business behind each stock. If a dividend is still supported and getting paid, it means there's still a successful company there, no matter what the stock price might say at the moment.

4. You have a value investor's mindset

Ultimately, a share of stock is an ownership stake in a business. If that business is currently profitable and expected to remain that way, each share is certainly worth something. Value investors recognize that a company's intrinsic worth is based on its ability to generate cash over time, and not simply on what the market thinks its shares should be priced at today.

As a result, a market crash can make great companies' shares available at a price below what those value investors believe they're really worth. That sort of pricing turns value investors into aggressive buyers during a crash, and it's a key part of the strategy that helped Warren Buffett earn and expand his fortune.

Especially when combined with the first three reasons not to worry about a stock-market crash, this fourth reason can actually give you an opportunity to profit from one. After all, if you've got the cash to ride out the decline and the wherewithal to buy near the lows, you have the opportunity to make some serious coin in any subsequent recovery.

Are you ready for the next crash?

While these four factors can help you make it through a market crash with much less worry, they all work much better if you have them in place before you need them. So start getting your plan in place today. That way, you'll be in a much better place the next time the market crashes.

","source":"fool_stock","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
4 Reasons Not to Worry About a Stock Market Crash
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\n4 Reasons Not to Worry About a Stock Market Crash\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2022-02-14 22:00 GMT+8 Motley Fool\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
The stock market will crash again. She tweeted recently that companies in her fund are “sacrificing short-term profitability for exponential and highly profitable long term growth.” During a Bloomberg Television interview in November, she predicted theprice of bitcoinwill hit $1 million by 2030, a roughly 6,000% increase from current levels.

Ms. Wood has called for Zoom, ARKK’s largest holding, to approach $1,500 a share in 2026, based in part on expectations of a worker backlash againstreturning to offices. They closed Friday at $72.16.

Through a spokeswoman, Ms. Wood declined to comment.

While many on Wall Street are cutting risk and bracing for a recession, Ms. Wood has been adding to riskier positions in recent weeks, buying more shares of cryptocurrency exchangeCoinbase GlobalInc. and a bitcoin futures ETF.

ARKK added 931,000 shares of Coinbase worth roughly $43 million in November, according to FactSet. GBTC trust shares are down 77% this year.

Some investors say Ms. Wood’s fund still doesn’t look cheap, even after its sharp share-price declines. ARKK shares more than doubled in 2020 beforeworries about inflation—and the prospect of higher rates—stalled their advance.“The bet was that free money would last indefinitely, and there doesn’t seem to have been a risk-management game plan,” saidJon Burckett-St. Laurent, senior portfolio manager at Exencial Wealth Advisors. For her part, Ms. Wood continues to shrug off the critics and stand by her investments. She tweeted recently that companies in her fund are “sacrificing short-term profitability for exponential and highly profitable long term growth.” During a Bloomberg Television interview in November, she predicted theprice of bitcoinwill hit $1 million by 2030, a roughly 6,000% increase from current levels.Ms. Wood has called for Zoom, ARKK’s largest holding, to approach $1,500 a share in 2026, based in part on expectations of a worker backlash againstreturning to offices. Her bear case is for shares to trade at $700. They closed Friday at $72.16.Through a spokeswoman, Ms. Wood declined to comment. While many on Wall Street are cutting risk and bracing for a recession, Ms. Wood has been adding to riskier positions in recent weeks, buying more shares of cryptocurrency exchangeCoinbase GlobalInc. and a bitcoin futures ETF.ARKK added 931,000 shares of Coinbase worth roughly $43 million in November, according to FactSet. ARKK is the second-largest holder of Coinbase shares, which are down 84% year-to-date. Another of Ms. Wood’s funds, theARK Next Generation Internet ETFARKW-0.70%decrease; red down pointing triangle, increased its exposure to bitcoin with the purchase of 608,000 shares of theGrayscale Bitcoin Trust, worth $6 million. GBTC trust shares are down 77% this year. Some investors say Ms. Wood’s fund still doesn’t look cheap, even after its sharp share-price declines. Since a majority of the companies it holds are unprofitable, traditional valuation measures such as price-to-earnings ratios are irrelevant.“I think with the flows into Cathie’s fund, there’s a knee-jerk reaction from some investors when something’s down that much,” saidBill Callahan, investment strategist at Schroders. “But that’s not always the right play. All of these stocks work in a relatively low nominal growth, low rate environment. It just doesn’t seem like that’s where we’re going to be.”Data from popular retail brokerage Webull Financial LLC shows that customers have added cash on anet basis to ARKKthis year, but the number of accounts holding the fund is shrinking.Since Jan. 1, the number of accounts holding the fund is down 8%, Webull Chief ExecutiveAnthony Deniersaid. By mid-November, the total had fallen to the lowest level of the year.“The big change started happening in July,” Mr. Denier said. “It’s been steadily declining.”ARKK could see another hit come in the coming weeks, Mr. Denier said, if savvy individual investors target their holdings for what is known as tax-loss harvesting—selling losing positions before year-end to realize losses and write them off as a tax loss.Ms. Wood continues to try to sell investors on the future, but with returns plunging, more of them have questions.“With Cathie Wood’s model, there’s no question that if one of her companies cures cancer, that stock will go through the roof,” saidBrian Mulberry, client portfolio manager at Zacks Investment Management. “It’s just simply a question of, how do you get from here to the other side of the rainbow?”","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":290,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9091247311,"gmtCreate":1643886520465,"gmtModify":1676533867870,"author":{"id":"4101090498243360","authorId":"4101090498243360","name":"吉祥TC","avatar":"https://community-static.tradeup.com/news/06f173ae2c7f8e208e77495cd9e0ac6a","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4101090498243360","authorIdStr":"4101090498243360"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$Meta Platforms, Inc.(FB)$Big big correction is good timing to buy low if itdropped to $200!
