for year

Ryanair sees its agreement with online agents hitting rivals

DUBLIN, July 21 (Reuters) - Ryanair's net profit more than doubled in its April-June quarter on higher-than-expected last-minute fares and the timing of the Easter holidays, while bookings for rest of the summer are "robust", Europe's largest low-cost carrier said on Monday.

The Irish airline, Europe's largest by passenger numbers, said it was not seeing a negative trend of later-than-normal bookings reported by some rivals.

"Across the piece, bookings are good," Chief Financial Officer Neil Sorahan said, describing consumer confidence as "very strong."

Shares in the airline were up 7% in premarket.

<img first quarter, which ended on June 30, up from 360 million euros in the same period last year when Easter was in March - and up from 663 million in the same period of 2023, the last time Easter was in April.

A Ryanair poll of analysts had expected 716 million euros.

Average fares rose 21% in the quarter, more than recovering the 15% fall recorded in the period last year.

In the July-September quarter, when European airlines make most of their profit, Ryanair expects to recover "almost all" of the 7% fare decline seen last year, when it was hit by weak consumer sentiment and a dispute with some online travel agents.

In June, Ryanair forecast that "some of" the 7% would be recovered.

Asked about recent commentary from British low-cost rivals EasyJet EZJ.L and Jet2 JET2.L that customers were booking later, Sorahan said: "We're not seeing those kind of trends at all."

Rivals are likely seeing a negative impact from the resolution of Ryanair's dispute with online travel agents, he said.

Ryanair's profit for the year depends heavily on the strength of close-in bookings in August and September, but O'Leary said the rebound in fares should lead to "reasonable net profit growth" for the year to March 31.

As Boeing's BA.N largest customer in Europe, Ryanair is particularly exposed to the possible imposition of tariffs on commercial aircraft, but said it was hopeful that an exemption for commercial aircraft could be agreed by the United States and European Union.

"We're all hopeful and maybe a little confident that Now, the electric vehicle maker is gearing up for its second stock split after close of trading on Aug. 24. Shareholders of record on Aug. 17 will receive a stock dividend of two extra shares for every one share they currently own.If you've been wondering how stock splits work and what will happen to your Tesla shares, here are three quick items to jot down.Image source: Getty Images.1. You'll have more Tesla shares after the stock splitA stock split increases the number of shares outstanding, giving investors more shares in their account for every one share they previously owned. After a stock split, the value of each share will be reduced to a lower price. This makes it easy for more retail investors to get their hands on a whole share of stock, because the stock price appears more affordable. If you're already an investor, your shares will be split into bite-sized pieces, but the total value of your shares will not increase.Let's say you have one share of Tesla's stock. On the day of the 3-for-1 stock split, the company will grant you two additional shares. Each share in your portfolio would be valued at one-third the price of the original share. If one Tesla share is trading at $900 before the stock split, you'll have three Tesla shares valued at $300 each after the stock split. As you can see, the total value of your shares is still $900.Here's how many shares you will have after the stock split based on the number of shares you have on record as of Aug. 17. All you have to do is look at the number of shares you have now, and multiply the total by three. That's how many shares you'll have after a stock split.1 share of Tesla stock = 3 shares2 shares of Tesla stock = 6 shares3 shares of Tesla stock = 9 shares4 shares of Tesla stock = 12 shares5 shares of Tesla stock = 15 shares2. You won't have to report the stock split itself on your tax returnA stock split doesn't increase a company's market capitalization or increase the value of your shares. You may have more shares in your account, but the original value of your shares remains the same. Therefore, a stock split in itself is not considered a taxable event. There are no IRS reporting requirements you need to adhere to during tax time.3. You may have to pay taxes if you sell your extra Tesla sharesAlthough a stock split in itself is not taxable, selling stock for a profit after a stock split can lead to taxes. This is the case if you sell stock in a taxable brokerage account. Earning money in the stock market leads to capital gains taxes. You will be taxed at the short-term or long-term capital gains tax rate, depending on how long you had your Tesla stock before selling it. Your brokerage firm will send you the details of your transaction, so you can properly report the sale to the IRS during tax time.Stock splits can be exciting and pain-free in the eyes of the investor. You wake up to more shares in your account after a stock split, and you don't have to worry about any tax obligations. But as soon as you decide to sell, you'll need to report your moves to the IRS. Before you make a move after a stock split, pay attention to the impact it will have on your portfolio and taxes, so you won't be surprised later.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"TSLA":1}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":699,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9904845149,"gmtCreate":1660024939783,"gmtModify":1703477112116,"author":{"id":"4099741810897890","authorId":"4099741810897890","name":"Samuellow88","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/db6e43b10a270f77cdbfc3bf0bca2dd6","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4099741810897890","authorIdStr":"4099741810897890"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"[Happy] ","listText":"[Happy] ","text":"[Happy]","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9904845149","repostId":"2257041625","repostType":2,"repost":{"id":"2257041625","kind":"highlight","pubTimestamp":1660024546,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/2257041625?lang=en_US&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2022-08-09 13:55","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Tesla Shareholders Approved a 3-for-1 Stock Split -- Is the Stock a Buy?","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2257041625","media":"Motley Fool","summary":"Tesla's share price has climbed 77% since its last stock split in August 2020.","content":"
\n
KEY POINTSTesla shareholders recently approved a 3-for-1 stock split, though the event has yet to be scheduled.CEO Elon Musk discussed several important topics during the shareholder meeting last week...
\n\nSource Link\n\n
\n","source":"fool_stock","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; The split itself has yet to be scheduled, but it will be Tesla's second stock split in just over two years, and many investors see that as a bullish sign.To be clear, splitting a stock has no impact on a company's market cap, a share's intrinsic value, or important fundamentals like profitability. Splits simply make a stock more accessible by lowering the share price. But lowering the price is only necessary after significant share price appreciation, which implies strong execution from a business perspective. With that in mind, is it time to buy Tesla stock?Details from the Tesla shareholder meetingThe pending stock split may have been the headline for some investors, but the most important part of the shareholder meeting was the commentary provided by CEO Elon Musk. He first touted Tesla's profitability, noting that the company had achieved an industry-leading operating margin over the past year. That success stems from a relentless pursuit of efficiency through factory design and automation, and innovations like single-piece casting and low-cost battery cells. And Tesla is set to become even more efficient in the future. The recently opened Gigafactory Berlin will reduce logistics costs by localizing the company's European operations, meaning fewer cars will need to be shipped to Europe from the factories in the U.S. and China. Tesla also plans to implement 4680-style battery cells in earnest next year, a technology that will cut battery production costs in half. That's especially impressive because Tesla already pays less to produce battery packs than any other automaker, according to Cairn Energy Research Advisors, and battery packs are the most expensive part of an electric car.Looking ahead, Musk says Tesla could achieve a production run-rate of 2 million vehicles by the end of this year, and he reiterated the goal of 20 million vehicles by the end of the decade. To make that happen, Tesla plans to build 10 to 12 Gigafactories over time, and the next factory location could be announced later this year.Tesla has an ambitious roadmapFinancially, Tesla is firing on all cylinders. Strong demand and unrivaled efficiency have fueled truly impressive growth over the past year. Trailing-12-month revenue rose 60% from the prior year to $67.2 billion and free cash flow soared 165% to $6.9 billion. But those figures account for a small fraction of what the company could be.During the shareholder event, Musk noted that Tesla is equal parts software company and hardware company, echoing his belief that full self-driving (FSD) software will eventually be the most important source of profitability for the car business. On that note, Tesla has a significant edge in FSD technology. Its vehicles have been equipped with autopilot hardware for years, enabling the company to capture more than 35 million miles (and counting) worth of autonomous driving data. That's more than any other automaker, and high-quality data is the cornerstone of artificial intelligence. With that in mind, Tesla has a robotaxi slated for volume production in 2024, and the company eventually plans to start an autonomous ride-hailing service. That could dramatically change the nature of the business. Robotaxis would likely generate huge sums of recurring revenue at very high margins. In fact, analysts at UBS Investment Bank say the robotaxi market will be worth at least $2 trillion by 2030, while Ark Invest analysts project ride-hailing platforms could generate $2 trillion in profits by 2030.There is one more piece of the puzzle: the autonomous humanoid robot codenamed Optimus. Musk believes Optimus will ultimately be worth more than the car business, and that its success will make Tesla the most valuable company in the world in time.Is Tesla's stock a buy?Tesla currently trades at 15.1 times sales, an incredibly rich valuation for a car company. But Tesla may look more like a software company a decade down the road, which would make its current valuation quite reasonable. With that in mind, patient investors should consider buying a few shares of this growth stock right now.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"TSLA":1}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":800,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9034531810,"gmtCreate":1647915689939,"gmtModify":1676534279550,"author":{"id":"4099741810897890","authorId":"4099741810897890","name":"Samuellow88","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/db6e43b10a270f77cdbfc3bf0bca2dd6","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4099741810897890","authorIdStr":"4099741810897890"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$SEA LTD(SE)$[Smile] ","listText":"$SEA LTD(SE)$[Smile] ","text":"$SEA LTD(SE)$[Smile]","images":[{"img":"https://community-static.tradeup.com/news/277d4557fa7b4f55600211c6e69ee8e6","width":"1170","height":"2292"}],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9034531810","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":1034,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":1,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9001541777,"gmtCreate":1641287095261,"gmtModify":1676533593157,"author":{"id":"4099741810897890","authorId":"4099741810897890","name":"Samuellow88","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/db6e43b10a270f77cdbfc3bf0bca2dd6","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4099741810897890","authorIdStr":"4099741810897890"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"[Smile] ","listText":"[Smile] ","text":"[Smile]","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":5,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9001541777","repostId":"1185614216","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1185614216","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1641282619,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1185614216?lang=en_US&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2022-01-04 15:50","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Apple could surge 27% in bull-case scenario as new AR headset adds $20 to its stock price, Wedbush says","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1185614216","media":"Markets Insider","summary":"Apple's stock price could soar 27% to $225 in a bull-case scenario, according to Dan Ives of Wedbush","content":"

Apple's stock price could soar 27% to $225 in a bull-case scenario, according to Dan Ives of Wedbush.

He laid out his case in a Sunday note for why Apple's services business is worth $1.5 trillion.

Ives expects a summer 2022 launch of a new AR headset that could add $20 to Apple's stock price.

An Apple shop in Istanbul, Turkey.

Apple's record run in 2021 could spill over into 2022, based on projections from Wedbush analyst Dan Ives.

He reiterated a $225 bull-case scenario price target for Apple, according to a Sunday note, representing potential upside of 27% from Friday's close.

Apple stock closed up 2.5% to $182.01 on Monday to a valuation just shy of $3 trillion. Last Friday, Amazon(NASDAQ:AMZN) enacted its 20-for-1 stock split.Currently, AMZN stock trades at just under $125 per share. That’s a much lower price from where it closed before the split. In fact, this is Amazon’slowest level in 25 years, although experts remain unworried. Each time shares of Amazon have split, they have come back stronger. Typically, stock splits are enacted to make shares of a given company more accessible for investors.InvestorPlacecontributor Chris Tyler says buying Amazon stock is “anything but a split decision” now. Wagner is also an AMZN shareholder in Aptus exchange-traded funds (ETFs). Following the split, Wagner shared his insights in an email toInvestorPlace:“For arguably the first time in 20 years, Amazon has significant excess capacity, and we expect Retail margins to improve from recent lows as utilization scales. An uncertain consumer outlook adds risk, but with [e-commerce] at 15-20% penetration of Retail, y/y [e-commerce] growth trends likely bottoming, and the company seemingly cost focused from here, we see Amazon as well positioned for resumption of [e-commerce] penetration growth.”That isn’t the only positive mark Wagner sees for AMZN stock, either. “[T]his stock tends to outperform well when its harvesting instead of investing,” the analyst adds. “And right now, it’s finally harvesting.”Wagner does note that stock splits aren’t a guaranteed magic pill to maximize returns for investors. However, he says that “splits lately have been a source of relative alpha.” The analyst and his firm continue to regard AMZN stock with favor, although Aptus would be willing to “pare back” if the share price grew to exceed $150.The Road Ahead for AmazonStock splits don’t instantly create value for a company. However, they can certainly prove beneficial to investors.Back in 2020, Tesla(NASDAQ:TSLA) announced a stock split, sending shares up 80%between the announcement and actual split date. That type of success has compelled Amazon and otherhigh-growth tech companies to split sharesas well.AMZN stock may indeed reach $150 down the line. For now, though, shares are at a great price for small-scale investors looking to buy into the tech behemoth.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"AMZN":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":809,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9031654658,"gmtCreate":1646555228116,"gmtModify":1676534139312,"author":{"id":"4099741810897890","authorId":"4099741810897890","name":"Samuellow88","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/db6e43b10a270f77cdbfc3bf0bca2dd6","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4099741810897890","authorIdStr":"4099741810897890"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"[Smile] ","listText":"[Smile] ","text":"[Smile]","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9031654658","repostId":"1113249024","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1113249024","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1646407823,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1113249024?lang=en_US&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2022-03-04 23:30","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Palantir Stock: Cathie Wood Sells, What Next?","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1113249024","media":"TipRanks","summary":"Shares of secretive data analytics software company Palantir (PLTR) have been sinking steadily lower","content":"
\n
Shares of secretive data analytics software company Palantir (PLTR) have been sinking steadily lower over the past few months. Following the release of some underwhelming earnings results, many investors are probably wondering what they should do with shares of the former WallStreetBets darling.A lot of high-multiple tech companies that have clocked in marvellous results have still seen their shares crumble in recent quarters. Undoubtedly, a quarterly flop alongside a broader souring of the tech trade is not where investors want to find themselves these days. Not when so many high-tech firms are continuing to impress in an attempt to offset the longer-term headwind of rising rates. I’m neutral on the stock.Palantir Stock Under PressureHigher rates eat out of the value of unprofitable, high-multiple growth stocks. The higher rates rise, the worse off many of the “story” stocks will be once the U.S. Federal Reserve gets to it.Indeed, Fed chair Jerome Powell has retired his “transitory” viewpoint of inflation. He recognizes the dangers of high and persistent inflation and his tone seemed to give off the impression that the Ukraine-Russia crisis will not prevent him from raising rates this year. The trajectory of rates is enough of a headwind to avoid high-multiple tech stocks like Palantir. Recent quarterly weakness, I believe, is just another reason why it may be better to follow ARK Invest’s Cathie Wood by selling some PLTR stock before the weakness has chance to worsen.Wood isn’t one to sell plunging stocks at a loss if she still believes in its innovative growth story. She’s all about doubling down on innovative companies on the way down. Undoubtedly, such a dip-buying strategy has been questionable thus far. In any case, Wood’s recent ditching of around $123 million worth of Palantir stock should ring some alarm bells.Changes Regarding Palantir’s Growth Narrative?Given Wood’s propensity to buy more shares of companies she believes in on the way down, I do view her selling activity as a cause for concern. For now, I am neutral on the stock given the high multiple (PLTR stock trades at a hefty 14.3 times sales) and modest quarterly miss, which may or may not have been overblown by fearful investors. On the plus side, I don’t think the fourth quarter was as abysmal as some investors believe.Growth and margins could still be poised to ascend from here. Though the earnings miss was underwhelming, I think PLTR stock is on the right track and do not view the narrative as being changed at a fundamental level. The valuation, though, remains suspect and could still leave the stock at risk of substantial downside as investors expect more than just robust top-line growth. While the Palantir quarter was technically a miss, it wasn’t nearly as bad as recent selling pressure would suggest. The 34% pop in year-over-year sales growth was decent, with the Commercial segment doing more than its share of heavy lifting.Looking farther out, the company is still pointing to 30% top-line growth at a minimum through 2025.While margins aren’t where investors want them to be with rates to rise soon, management is still focused on various margin-enhancing initiatives. For long-term investors, that has to be soothing.Wall Street’s TakeAccording to TipRanks’ analyst rating consensus, PLTR stock comes in as a Moderate Sell. Out of eight analyst ratings, there is one Buy recommendation, three Hold recommendations and four Sell recommendations. The average Palantir price target is $13.17, implying an upside of 16.1%. Analyst price targets range from a low of $9 per share to a high of $21 per share.Bottom Line on Palantir StockRising rates, a lack of profits and a hazy growth narrative are not where investors want to be at a time like this. Personally, I think the narrative has not changed nearly as much as the price has. While popular innovation investor Cathie Wood may be wrong to sell shares of PLTR on weakness, I do think there are easier places to make money these days.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"PLTR":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":1075,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":459129278832728,"gmtCreate":1753092529022,"gmtModify":1753092531457,"author":{"id":"4099741810897890","authorId":"4099741810897890","name":"Samuellow88","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/db6e43b10a270f77cdbfc3bf0bca2dd6","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4099741810897890","authorIdStr":"4099741810897890"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Share
