The Dow Jones Industrial Average&nbsp;(<a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/.DJI\">DJIA</a>), meanwhile, could be headed for a 237 point, or 0.7%, decline, per futures markets.</p>\n<p>If the losses hold, it would be the S&amp;P 500’s third consecutive drop, the index’s longest losing streak since the three-day losing streak that ended on July 19. At this pace, the index would shed around 2.4% over a three-day period, also the worst since that July tumble.</p>\n<p>If you want reasons for the decline, well, there are plenty. Taper fears are at the top of the list, despite the fact that the Fed has been about as transparent about the fact that it will end its bond-buying program soon as it’s possible to be. (Can a big article in The Wall Street Journal with the headline “Fed Officials Weigh Ending Asset Purchases by Mid-2022” be any more obvious?)</p>\n<p>But history shows that markets react to changes in monetary policy—even when they know the change is coming, says Bleakley Advisory Group’s Peter Boockvar. “[We] have to be reminded of how stocks responded to EVERY SINGLE change in Fed policy towards tightening since 2010,” he writes. “Outside of the August 2015 selloff related to the Chinese yuan modest devaluation and the Covid induced crash, every notable correction in stocks surrounded a change Fed policy toward tightening.”</p>\n<p>Covid concerns continue to rise, whether its cases forcing shutdowns in <a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/NGD\">New</a> Zealand or reports that the vaccines aren’t as effective against the Delta variant as originally thought. Again, none of this is terribly new, but then again, the market chooses when it wants to react, not folks with a keyboard.</p>\n<p>If you listen to the thrum of the Street, though, you get the sense that the market has been due for a correction. There’s some truth to that. The S&amp;P 500 has been more than 8% above its 200-day moving average for 198 days, the longest in 40 years and among the five longest stretches in history. These streaks are usually followed by a couple of months of choppy trading, with a median gain of just 0.3% over the following two months. “By the time it reached the current length, other super-strong trends saw buyers take a break,” writes Sundial Capital Research’s Jason Goepfert.</p>\n<p>Of course, it might just be August, says DataTrek’s Nicholas Colas. He notes that the S&amp;P 500 typically has one 1% up or down move every week since 1957, but has had just three during the first seven weeks of the third quarter. The Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA), meanwhile, could be headed for a 237 point, or 0.7%, decline, per futures markets.\nIf the losses hold, it would be the S&P 500’s third consecutive drop, the index’s longest losing streak since the three-day losing streak that ended on July 19. At this pace, the index would shed around 2.4% over a three-day period, also the worst since that July tumble.\nIf you want reasons for the decline, well, there are plenty. Taper fears are at the top of the list, despite the fact that the Fed has been about as transparent about the fact that it will end its bond-buying program soon as it’s possible to be. Overnight, the DXY found a floor at 93.500 before rising to 93.684 at best as sentiment in Europe is tainted in early trade. From a technical standpoint, the index eyes resistance around the 93.900 mark - which acted as a ceiling on several occasions during Q3 and Q4 2020. Above that, a breach of the psychological 94.000 mark could open the door to resistance around 94.300 (4th Nov 2020 high), 94.500 and thereafter the 100 and 200 WMAs at 94.650 and 94.807 - although these are still some way off. To the downside, yesterday’s low was at 93.214, the psychological 93.000, whilst the 21 DMA (92.674) and the 50 DMA (92.377) reside just below. Ahead, an empty state-side calendar but price action will likely be dictated by the risk tone. As a side note Fed Chair Powell is to speak on the economic outlook at the Jackson Hole Symposium on August 27th at 15:00BST/10:00EDT.</p>\n<p><b>In commodities,</b>WTI and Brent front-month futures are once again on a softer footing amid the continuing COVID concerns coupled with the cautious tone around the market. Aside from that news flow has been quiet for the complex and the market in general - with sentiment and Delta woes likely to take precedence in the absence of catalysts. Elsewhere, spot gold and silver vary but remain flat in the grander scheme above USD 1,775/oz and north of USD 23/oz respectively. About 83% of S&amp;P 500 stocks fell on the day, according to FactSet. This dynamics often reflects concern about how the market will perform without the Fed there to support it.</p>\n<p>Now, it’s just a question of when tapering will begin. Secretary-General António Guterres urged an immediate end to coal energy and other high-polluting fossil fuels.</p>\n<p>“The alarm bells are deafening,” Guterres said in a statement. “This report must sound a death knell for coal and fossil fuels, before they destroy our planet.”</p>\n<p>The IPCC report comes just three months before a major U.N. climate conference in Glasgow, Scotland, where nations will be under pressure to pledge ambitious climate action and substantial financing.</p>\n<p>Drawing on more than 14,000 scientific studies, the report gives the most comprehensive and detailed picture yet of how climate change is altering the natural world -- and what still could be ahead.</p>\n<p>Unless immediate, rapid and large-scale action is taken to reduce emissions, the report says, the average global temperature will likely cross the 1.5-degree Celsius warming threshold within the next 20 years.</p>\n<p>So far, nations’ pledges to cut emissions&nbsp;have been inadequate for bringing down the level of greenhouse gases accumulated in the atmosphere.</p>\n<p>Reacting to the findings, governments and campaigners expressed alarm.</p>\n<p>“The IPCC report underscores the overwhelming urgency of this moment,” U.S. climate envoy John Kerry said in a statement. “The world must come together before the ability to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius is out of reach.”</p>\n<p>IRREVERSIBLE CHANGE</p>\n<p>Emissions “unequivocally caused by human activities” have pushed today’s average global temperature 1.1C higher than the preindustrial average -- and would have pushed it 0.5C further if not for the tempering effect of pollution in the atmosphere, the report says.</p>\n<p>That means that, as societies transition away from fossil fuels, much of the aerosols in the air would vanish -- and temperatures could spike.</p>\n<p>Scientists warn that warming more than 1.5C above the preindustrial average could trigger runaway climate change with catastrophic impacts, such as heat so intense that crops fail or people die just from being outdoors.</p>\n<p>Every additional 0.5C of warming will also boost the intensity and frequency of heat extremes and heavy rainfall, as well as droughts in some regions. Both companies are expected to generate tens of billions of dollars in revenue this year as they sign new deals with countries anxious to secure supplies for potential booster shots.</p>\n<p>Perthe FT,the companies are raising prices now that Phase 3 trial data has showed that their mRNA jabs are more effective than the AstraZeneca and JNJ jabs. But let's not forget another important factor: that both the AstraZeneca and JNJ jabs have been linked to rare yet sometimes fatal blood clots that have made millions of people wary of taking the jabs. In Australia, for example, the AstraZeneca jab is much more available than the Pfizer jabs...but most patients would prefer to wait, despite the intense lockdowns imposed on the population.</p>\n<p>The new price for a Pfizer shot was €19.50 ($23) vs. €15.50 ($18) previously, according to the contracts seen by the FT.</p>\n<p>The insider who leaked the data to the FT said the pharmaceutical companies argued they deserved more money because their jabs offered increased \"value\" vs. competing vaccines.</p>\n<p>In reality, Big Pharma is just trying to do right by its shareholders as sales are expected to boom.</p>\n<p><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/cb20962b05dd2a1a50089742b71bd99c\" tg-width=\"1280\" tg-height=\"889\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer\">As the FT points out, the EU supply deal was struck at a difficult time for the EU.
