where we present interesting business snippets or earnings reviews.</p><p><b>Keppel Corporation Limited (SGX: BN4)</b></p><p>Keppel Corporation has just announced a massive contract win from Brazil’s National Oil Company, Petrobras.</p><p>Its offshore and marine (O&amp;M) unit’s wholly-owned subsidiary, Keppel Shipyard, has secured a US$2.9 billion international tender to build a Floating Production, Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel.</p><p>The vessel, known as P-80, will be the second FPSO that Keppel O&amp;M will be building for the state-owned oil major.</p><p>The P-80 is set to be one of the largest floating production units in the world with a production capacity of 225,000 barrels of oil per day and a storage capacity of two million barrels of oil.</p><p>It is scheduled for completion in the first half of 2026 and this contract will add over S$4 billion to Keppel O&amp;M’s order book.</p><p>As a recap, Keppel O&amp;M’s net order book as of end-June 2022 stood at S$4.4 billion, so this contract alone will almost double the division’s order flow.</p><p>Elsewhere, Keppel Corporation is also partnering with <b>Keppel Infrastructure Trust</b> (SGX: A7RU), or KIT, to co-invest in a sustainable urbanisation business and a renewables project.</p><p>KIT, Keppel Asia Infrastructure Trust and Keppel Infrastructure Holdings Pte Ltd, a wholly-owned unit of Keppel Corporation, will jointly acquire a waste management services player in South Korea for around S$666.1 million.</p><p>Keppel Corporation will end up with an 18% ownership of this business.</p><p>Both KIT and Keppel Corporation will also jointly invest in a 50.01% stake in a German wind farm that will increase the latter’s renewable energy portfolio to approximately 2.2 gigawatts.</p><p>The investment amount is around S$445.3 million and the 50.01% stake will be equally split among the two businesses.</p><p><b>Sea Limited (NYSE: SE)</b></p><p>Sea Limited, a US-listed Singaporean e-commerce and gaming company, just released its fiscal 2022’s second quarter (2Q2022) and first half (1H2022) earnings.</p><p>Total revenue rose 29% year on year to US$2.9 billion while gross profit climbed 17.1% year on year to US$1.1 billion.</p><p>Despite the rise in revenue, net loss more than doubled year on year from US$433.7 million in 1H2021 to US$931.2 million in 1H2022.</p><p>The business generated a negative free cash flow of close to US$90 million in the same period.</p><p>Digging into each of Sea’s divisions, the e-commerce under Shopee saw gross orders jump 42% year on year to two billion while gross merchandise value rose 27% year on year to US$19 billion.</p><p>Globally, Shopee continued to rank as the top app on Google Play in the shopping category based on the total time spent using the app.</p><p>Sea Limited is, however, suspending its e-commerce revenue guidance for the remainder of 2022 due to macro uncertainties.</p><p>Moving on to the digital entertainment segment under Garena, quarterly active users witnessed a 15% year on year decline to 619.3 million.</p><p>Despite the decline, the latest figure is a slight increase from the previous quarter’s 615.9 million after the company saw two consecutive quarter on quarter declines in this metric.</p><p>Unfortunately, quarterly paying users continued their descent, down 39% year on year and 8.6% quarter on quarter, logging its third consecutive quarter on quarter decline.</p><p>On the bright side, Sea’s digital financial services division did well, with revenue more than tripling year on year to US$279 million.</p><p>Quarterly active users continued to rise by 53% year on year in 2Q2022 with total payment volume jumping by 36% year on year to US$5.7 billion.</p><p><b>Millionaires in Singapore</b></p><p>The number of millionaires in Singapore as a proportion of its population looks set to rise, according to a report from <b>HSBC</b> (LON: HSBA).</p><p>The bank projects that in the next eight years, the share of millionaires will rise to 13.4% of the population, up from just 7.5% last year.</p><p>Wealth is measured as the cash in bank accounts plus investments in securities such as stocks andbonds, along with any real estate holdings minus their associated mortgage amounts.</p><p>In absolute terms, the number of millionaires will jump from the current 400,000 to 700,000 from 2021 to 2030.</p><p>This steady rise bodes well for companies selling luxury goods as spending on discretionary goods is set to rise.</p><p>Luxury watch retailers <b>The Hour Glass</b> (SGX: AGS) and <b>Cortina Holdings</b> (SGX: C41) stand to benefit as the country will have more well-heeled individuals.</p><p>And let’s not forget that luxury brands such as <b>Ralph Lauren</b> (NYSE: RL) and <b>Hermes International</b> (EPS: RMS) that operate in Singapore will also see a boost in their sales.</p><p>Finally, unit trust and wealth management platform provider <b>iFAST Corporation Limited</b> (SGX: AIY) may also see sustained inflows that will allow it to continue growing its assets under (O&M) unit’s wholly-owned subsidiary, Keppel Shipyard, has secured a US$2.9 billion international tender to build a Floating Production, Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel.The vessel, known as P-80, will be the second FPSO that Keppel O&M will be building for the state-owned oil major.The P-80 is set to be one of the largest floating production units in the world with a production capacity of 225,000 barrels of oil per day and a storage capacity of two million barrels of oil.It is scheduled for completion in the first half of 2026 and this contract will add over S$4 billion to Keppel O&M’s order book.As a recap, Keppel O&M’s net order book as of end-June 2022 stood at S$4.4 billion, so this contract alone will almost double the division’s order flow.Elsewhere, Keppel Corporation is also partnering with Keppel Infrastructure Trust (SGX: A7RU), or KIT, to co-invest in a sustainable urbanisation business and a renewables project.KIT, Keppel Asia Infrastructure Trust and Keppel Infrastructure Holdings Pte Ltd, a wholly-owned unit of Keppel Corporation, will jointly acquire a waste management services player in South Korea for around S$666.1 million.Keppel Corporation will end up with an 18% ownership of this business.Both KIT and Keppel Corporation will also jointly invest in a 50.01% stake in a German wind farm that will increase the latter’s renewable energy portfolio to approximately 2.2 gigawatts.The investment amount is around S$445.3 million and the 50.01% stake will be equally split among the two businesses.Sea Limited (NYSE: SE)Sea Limited, a US-listed Singaporean e-commerce and gaming company, just released its fiscal 2022’s second quarter (2Q2022) and first half (1H2022) earnings.Total revenue rose 29% year on year to US$2.9 billion while gross profit climbed 17.1% year on year to US$1.1 billion.Despite the rise in revenue, net loss more than doubled year on year from US$433.7 million in 1H2021 to US$931.2 million in 1H2022.The business generated a negative free cash flow of close to US$90 million in the same period.Digging into each of Sea’s divisions, the e-commerce under Shopee saw gross orders jump 42% year on year to two billion while gross merchandise value rose 27% year on year to US$19 billion.Globally, Shopee continued to rank as the top app on Google Play in the shopping category based on the total time spent using the app.Sea Limited is, however, suspending its e-commerce revenue guidance for the remainder of 2022 due to macro uncertainties.Moving on to the digital entertainment segment under Garena, quarterly active users witnessed a 15% year on year decline to 619.3 million.Despite the decline, the latest figure is a slight increase from the previous quarter’s 615.9 million after the company saw of its population looks set to rise, according to a report from HSBC (LON: HSBA).The bank projects that in the next eight years, the share of millionaires will rise to 13.4% of the population, up from We examined the correlations between other cryptocurrencies and gold and the S&amp;P 500 as well but found the results were qualitatively similar, so we used bitcoin as a proxy for crypto in general.</p><p>The correlation between gold and the S&amp;P 500 came in as expected. Outside of major downturns, gold and the S&amp;P 500 have just a slight positive correlation of 0.060. Yet, when the S&amp;P 500 plunges, so does its average correlation with gold, which drops to –0.134. The takeaway is clear: Gold does offer some protection in down markets and lives up to its status as a perennial hedge.</p><p><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/4499af8f22512ba76cfd4a05b60c53fc\" tg-width=\"623\" tg-height=\"578\" width=\"100%\" height=\"auto\"/></p><p>The same cannot be said for bitcoin — or crypto in general. Outside of equity market downturns, bitcoin and the S&amp;P 500 have had a slight positive correlation of 0.129. Amid the last five stock market contractions, however, the correlation between bitcoin and the S&amp;P 500 jumped to 0.258. Indeed, in only two of the past five downturns did the correlation turn negative. Second, the portfolio has a long history of market-beating investments that many investors would otherwise overlook or consider \"boring.\" And last but certainly not least, many of the investments in the portfolio were hand-selected by legendary investor Warren Buffett himself.However, a few years ago, Berkshire reported an interesting move in its portfolio. The company added shares of two exchange-traded funds, or Pacer Swan SOS Fund of Funds ETF|ETFs. And while these are relatively small investments for Berkshire, it represents Berkshire's first major index fund investments. Here's a look at Berkshire's two ETFs and why they could be some of Warren Buffett's favorite investments even though they currently make up a tiny fraction of Berkshire's overall portfolio.Berkshire's two ETFsThe two ETFs in Berkshire Hathaway's stock portfolio are the SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust and the Vanguard S&P 500 ETF. And they are both very similar. Both are S&P 500 index funds, which means they are designed to deliver the same long-term performance as the S&P 500 index.The basic idea is that these funds pool investors' assets to buy shares of all 500 companies in the S&P 500 index, and in the same weightings as the index (more shares of larger companies). But ever since Alphabet started breaking out YouTube's performance early last year, it's become clear it should be right there in the mix with the rest.</p>\n<p>YouTube is not only a streaming video juggernaut that continues to report mind-bending growth, it is also turning into a key rival to the paid services that dominate the conversation around the future of television. And it has plenty of room to grow.</p>\n<p>Take a look at some of the key points we've learned about YouTube's growth recently:</p>\n<p>Quarterly revenue is on a par with Netflix, and it's growing at a faster rate. Alphabet said YouTube booked $7 billion in ad revenue last quarter. That's up 83% from the year-ago quarter. Compare that to the $7.34 billion in revenue Netflix booked during the same period. Netflix's revenue grew 19.4% from a year ago.</p>\n<p>Also, practically all of Netflix's revenue comes from subscriptions. Alphabet only reports YouTube's advertising revenue, not revenue from subscription products like YouTube TV and YouTube Premium.</p>\n<p>YouTube's television viewing is growing faster than ever. While the vast majority of YouTube consumption happens on phones, computers and tablets, Alphabet reported huge growth over the past year in people watching on television sets.</p>\n<p>The company said 120 million people watched YouTube on a TV last month, up from 100 million per month last year. Philipp Schindler, Google's chief business officer, said on the company's earnings call Tuesday YouTube on TV is \"the fastest growing consumer surface that we have.\"</p>\n<p>It’s the strongest signal yet that YouTube is encroaching on Netflix (209 million subscribers as of the end of June) and Disney+’s (103.6 million subscribers as of April 3) territory in the living room.</p>\n<p>Nielsen says more people are watching YouTube and Netflix than any other streaming service. Research firm Nielsen released a fascinating study last month showing far more people still watch traditional television than streaming video.</p>\n<p>But Nielsen’s data also had an interesting ranking of time spent streaming on various services. YouTube and Netflix were the top two streamers, with each service accounting for 6% of time spent watching television.</p>\n<p>YouTube’s TikTok rival is also growing. Short-form video is the dominant trend on social media today, with TikTok leading the charge. YouTube has its own short-form video service, YouTube Shorts, designed to compete with TikTok. Alphabet didn’t disclose how many people are using YouTube shorts but said viewing metrics jumped from 6.5 billion views per day in March to 15 billion views per day by the end of last quarter.</p>\n<p>More room to grow. Nielsen’s report last month showed there’s still plenty of room for all streamers to grow as more people migrate away from traditional linear TV. And it has plenty of room to grow.</p>\n<p>Take a look at some of the key points we've learned about YouTube's growth recently:</p>\n<p>Quarterly revenue is on a par with Netflix, and it's growing at a faster rate. Alphabet said YouTube booked $7 billion in ad revenue last quarter. That's up 83% from the year-ago quarter. Compare that to the $7.34 billion in revenue Netflix booked during the same period. Netflix's revenue grew 19.4% from a year ago.</p>\n<p>Also, practically all of Netflix's revenue comes from subscriptions. Alphabet only reports YouTube's advertising revenue, not revenue from subscription products like YouTube TV and YouTube Premium.</p>\n<p>YouTube's television viewing is growing faster than ever. While the vast majority of YouTube consumption happens on phones, computers and tablets, Alphabet reported huge growth over the past year in people watching on television sets.</p>\n<p>The company said 120 million people watched YouTube on a TV last month, up from 100 million per month last year. Philipp Schindler, Google's chief business officer, said on the company's earnings call Tuesday YouTube on TV is \"the fastest growing consumer surface that we have.\"</p>\n<p>It’s the strongest signal yet that YouTube is encroaching on Netflix (209 million subscribers as of the end of June) and Disney+’s (103.6 million subscribers as of April 3) territory in the living room.</p>\n<p>Nielsen says more people are watching YouTube and Netflix than any other streaming service. Research firm Nielsen released a fascinating study last month showing far more people still watch traditional television than streaming video.</p>\n<p>But Nielsen’s data also had an interesting ranking of time spent streaming on various services. YouTube and Netflix were the top two streamers, with each service accounting for 6% of time spent watching television.</p>\n<p>YouTube’s TikTok rival is also growing. Short-form video is the dominant trend on social media today, with TikTok leading the charge. YouTube has its own short-form video service, YouTube Shorts, designed to compete with TikTok. Alphabet didn’t disclose how many people are using YouTube shorts but said viewing metrics jumped from 6.5 billion views per day in March to 15 billion views per day by the end of last quarter.</p>\n<p>More room to grow.
