Now, they are dealing with the bust.

Silvergate Capital Corp., Signature Bank and Customers Bancorp Inc. have snapped up billions of dollars in deposits from crypto businesses -- the exchanges, investment firms and stablecoin issuers that grew rapidly alongside the market for digital currencies.

The plunge in crypto prices this year has taken the banks on a wild ride. At Silvergate, deposits swung by $5 billion in the second quarter, a nearly unheard of move for a bank of its size, before ending basically flat at $13.5 billion. Signature posted its second quarterly decline in deposits in the last decade, and a major crypto customer filed for bankruptcy.

Volatility also has seeped into the banks' stocks, which now trade more like crypto firms than their staid banking peers. The shares of Silvergate and Signature both doubled last year when the market was booming, while Customers stock more than tripled. Silvergate is down nearly 30% this year, while Signature and Customers are off almost 40%. The broad Nasdaq Bank index has fallen 8%.

Big banks have been snatching market share from small banks for years, especially when it comes to deposits. That has left smaller banks looking for growth in places where the big banks aren't. With crypto, the difficulty of the strategy is evident.

Banks typically want sticky deposits -- stable, low-cost funding that allows them to make more long-term loans. In the most extreme scenario, an unstable deposit base can make banks more prone to runs where customers ask for their money back faster than the bank can deliver it. A plunging stock price can make it harder for a bank to raise the money it needs to operate.

The crypto-focused banks aren't holding digital currencies. Instead, they provide corporate bank accounts for crypto companies. They also operate special payments networks: A hedge fund buying bitcoin through exchange Coinbase Global Inc., for instance, could use dollars from the fund's Silvergate checking account to almost instantly cover the purchase.

More deposits usually allow a bank to increase lending. But these banks aren't growing their loan books as fast as they are building deposits, opting instead to keep a bigger cushion to account for unexpected outflows. Silvergate and Signature posted record profits in the second quarter, despite the dramatic moves in the crypto market.

"This is all just par for the course," said Silvergate Chief Executive Alan Lane. "We've set things up to essentially thrive during these times of market dislocation."

In 2013, Silvergate was a commercial real estate lender with a handful of branches in the San Diego area in search of deposits. The bank opened to crypto companies the next year, and its deposits have since grown 30-fold, with 99% of them coming from the digital-currency world. The bank has sold off most of its traditional banking business to concentrate on crypto companies and institutional investors, banking well-known exchanges such as FTX, Coinbase and Kraken.

Early in the year, a decline in cryptocurrency trading volumes meant clients needed fewer deposits. The May collapse of TerraUSD, a stablecoin pegged to the dollar, sent losses rippling through crypto exchanges and brokers, causing prices to plunge and kicking off a trading frenzy. Silvergate's deposits went as high as $17.6 billion and down to $12.6 billion in the second quarter.

The bank said it hasn't lost any money on its $1.4 billion portfolio of loans backed by bitcoin, though the digital currency's value has halved this year. Silvergate requires collateral far above the value of the borrowings.

In 2018, Signature Bank hired bankers specializing in crypto, part of an effort to branch out beyond commercial real estate.

Since the bank unveiled its own payments system for crypto companies, total deposits have nearly tripled to $104 billion. Crypto-linked deposits made up 26% of the tally at the end of the second quarter.

One of Signature's customers, crypto lender Celsius Network LLC, filed for bankruptcy in July. In court papers, Celsius said it had $130 million in cash on hand and nearly all of its bank accounts were at Signature. Signature has experience working with clients in bankruptcy, and Celsius accounts for a small part of its deposits, Chairman Scott Shay said in an interview.

A $2.4 billion decline in digital-asset deposits in the second quarter dragged down total deposits.

"We're banking a lot of companies, and it's not our job to pick the winners and losers," Mr. Shay said.

Pennsylvania-based Customers Bank started pursuing crypto-company deposits less than a year ago. Its payments system has attracted more than $2 billion so far, a sizable sum for a bank with $17 billion in deposits.

Crypto clients withdrew hundreds of millions of dollars on some days in the second quarter, often to meet customer redemptions, said Christopher Smalley, the bank's head of digital banking. Still, crypto-linked deposits grew, albeit more slowly.

"It's worth us taking the risk that there will be negative news events or additional regulatory scrutiny to get these very large deposits," Mr. Smalley said. "We're prepared for an extinction-level event where bitcoin would go to zero."

The bank, he said, has also beefed up its anti-money-laundering team. It is rolling out loans backed by customers' crypto. Co-branded credit cards with exchanges and other projects could be next, Mr. Smalley said.

New York-based Metropolitan Commercial Bank held deposits for customers at exchanges and partnered with exchange Crypto.com to issue a prepaid debit card backed by investors' crypto holdings. Metropolitan holds $270 million in customer deposits for exchange Voyager Ltd., which went bankrupt last month. It now could lose the whole chunk, about 4% of its total deposits, when those customers are paid back.

Metropolitan said it is pivoting away from crypto, looking to bank financial-technology companies instead.

","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Crypto Is Taking a Few Small Banks on a Wild Ride
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nCrypto Is Taking a Few Small Banks on a Wild Ride\n
\n\n
\n\n\n<div class=\"head\" \">\n\n\n

\n\n
\n
Dow Jones
\n
2022-08-15 17:30
\n
\n\n
\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n

When big banks steered clear of cryptocurrency companies, a handful of small lenders eagerly courted the booming businesses. J.P. Morgan’sAlex Yao has an idea. The analyst believes “sentiment-driven fund flow is the current key share price driver and revenue recovery is the key determinant of market sentiment.”That is a bit of problem, then. Because Yao expects weak China consumption in the September quarter (F2Q23) to impact the revenue outlook.Since late August, Covid has once again been a disruptive force in a host of cities across China, and as such, Yao expects “limited improvement” in Alibaba’s core-core CMR (customer-management revenue) compared to the June quarter. The analyst sees the September quarter’s CMR falling by 4% from the same period last year, hardly any better than the June quarter’s 5% drop. On account of “low visibility of consumer sentiment improvement” or any relaxion of the Covid policies, the decline will continue in the December quarter, albeit at a slower pace (Yao expects a 2% year-over-year decline vs. anticipation of a positive turn previously). In contrast, given Alibaba’s firm commitment to cost-cutting and efficiency-improving measures, Yao sees “potential upside to consensus bottom-line projections.”However, that might not have enough of a positive effect right now. “Alibaba’s weakening revenue outlook in the near term could continue to weigh on the share price despite an unchanged, or even potentially better, profit outlook,” the analyst said, before summing up, “Nonetheless, we believe Alibaba’s share price is attractive on a 12-month view on 1) profit growth recovery to 20%+ in FY2024, 2) current consensus FY2024 PE of only 9x.”To this end, Yao rates BABA shares an Overweight (i.e., Buy) along with a $135 price target. This figure leaves room for 12-month share appreciation of ~69%. Yao’s rating stays an Overweight (i.e., Buy).Overall, Wall Street takes a bullish stance on Alibaba shares. 17 Buys and 1 Sell issued over the previous three months, making the stock a Strong Buy. Meanwhile, the $149.06 average price target suggests ~86% upside from current levels.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"BABA":0.9,"09988":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":1019,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9069374039,"gmtCreate":1651243011555,"gmtModify":1676534876932,"author":{"id":"3582186923187499","authorId":"3582186923187499","name":"DuckgeniusMY","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/35305016933b9ee5f9c55d728a31cc06","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3582186923187499","authorIdStr":"3582186923187499"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Cool","listText":"Cool","text":"Cool","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":2,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":8,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9069374039","repostId":"1167995903","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":646,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9981981342,"gmtCreate":1666370220586,"gmtModify":1676537748679,"author":{"id":"3582186923187499","authorId":"3582186923187499","name":"DuckgeniusMY","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/35305016933b9ee5f9c55d728a31cc06","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3582186923187499","authorIdStr":"3582186923187499"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Cool","listText":"Cool","text":"Cool","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":22,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9981981342","repostId":"1159307696","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1159307696","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1666357343,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1159307696?lang=en_US&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2022-10-21 21:02","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Fed Set to Raise Rates by 0.75 Point and Debate Size of Future Hikes","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1159307696","media":"the wall street journal","summary":"Federal Reserve officials are barreling toward another interest-rate rise of 0.75 percentage point a","content":"
\n
Federal Reserve officials are barreling toward another interest-rate rise of 0.75 percentage point at their meeting Nov. 1-2 and are likely to debate then whether and how to signal plans to approve a ...
\n\nSource Link\n\n
\n","source":"wsj_highlight","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; They want to reduce the risk of causing an unnecessarily sharp slowdown. Others have said it is too soon for those discussions becausehigh inflationis proving to be more persistent and broad. The Fedhas raised its benchmark federal-funds rateby 0.75 point at each of its past three meetings, most recently in September, bringing the rate to a range between 3% and 3.25%. Officials are raising rates at the most aggressive pace since the early 1980s. Until June, they hadn’t raised rates by 0.75 point since 1994.Fed officials want higher borrowing costs and lower asset prices to slow economic activity by curbing spending, hiring and investment. They expect that to reduce demand and lower inflation over time.Fed policy makers face a series of decisions. First, do they raise rates by a smaller half-point increment in December? And if so, how do they explain to the public that they aren’t backing down in their fight to prevent inflation from becoming entrenched?Markets rallied in July and August on expectations that the Fed might slow rate rises. That conflicted with the central bank’s goals because easier financial conditions stimulate spending and economic growth. The rally prompted Fed ChairmanJerome Powellto redraft a major speech in late August to disabuse investors of any misperceptions about hisinflation-fighting commitment. If officials are entertaining a half-point rate rise in December, they would want to prepare investors for that decision in the weeks after their Nov. 1-2 meeting without prompting another sustained rally. One possible solution would be for Fed officials to approve a half-point increase in December, while using their new economic projections to show they might lift rates somewhat higher in 2023 than they projected last month. The Fed’s policies work through financial markets. Changes to the anticipated trajectory of rates—and not just what the Fed does at any meeting—can influence broader financial conditions.Cleveland Fed PresidentLoretta Mesterhas signaled she would favor rate rises of 0.75 point at each of the Fed’s next two meetings because there hasn’t been progress on inflation. “We can’t let wishful thinking drive our policy decisions,” she said on Oct. 6.Some officials have said they want to see proof that inflation is falling before easing up on rate increases. “Given our frankly disappointing lack of progress on curtailing inflation, I expect we will be well above 4% by the end of the year,” said Philadelphia Fed PresidentPatrick Harkerin remarks Thursday in Vineland, N.J.Meanwhile, Fed Vice ChairwomanLael Brainardand some other officials have recently hinted at unease with raising rates by 0.75 point beyond next month’s meeting. In a speech on Oct. 10, Ms. Brainard laid out a case for pausing rate rises at some point, noting how they influence the economy over time.Other colleagues are concerned about the danger of raising rates too high. Chicago Fed PresidentCharles Evanstold reporters on Oct. 10 he was worried about assumptions that the Fed could just cut rates if it decided they were too high. Promptly lowering rates is always easier in theory than in practice, he said.Mr. Evans said he would prefer to find a rate level that restricted economic growth enough to lower inflation and hold it there even if the Fed faced “a few not-so-great reports” on inflation.“I worry that if the way you judge it is, ‘Oh, another bad inflation report—it must be that we need more [rate hikes],’… that puts us at somewhat greater risk of responding overly aggressive,” he said.Kansas City Fed PresidentEsther Georgealso last week said she favored moving “steadier and slower” on rate increases. “A series of very super-sized rate increases might cause you to oversteer and not be able to see those turning points,” she said in a webinar on Oct. 14.The ultimate result is likely to come down to what Mr. Powell decides as he seeks to fashion a consensus.Officials will have two more months of several widely watched economic indicators before their meeting in mid-December, including on hiring and inflation. They pay close attention to a detailed measure of worker compensation called the employment-cost index, and the Labor Department report covering the July-to-September quarter is set for release on Oct. 28.One challenge is that some of the strongest support for slowing down increases comes from so-called policy doves, who have traditionally favored easier monetary policy. Last year, those officials argued most forcefully for waiting to remove stimulus policies. Now, with inflation running near a four-decade high, it could be harder for their arguments to gain traction, saidNeil Dutta, an economist at research firm Renaissance Macro.“At critical junctures in the monetary-policy decision-making process, they’ve been spectacularly wrong,” said Mr. Dutta. “The doves are in the penalty box. There are costs to being wrong at key turning points over the last 18 to 24 months.”Another concern is that inflation pressures have broadened despite some signs of potential relief. Commodity prices have fallen this summer. Easing supply-chain bottlenecks could lead to deceleration in goods prices, and thehousing market is entering a deep slump. But astrong labor marketcould lead to persistent wage growth thatboosts prices in the labor-intensive services sector. That could keep prices rising on everything from haircuts to car repairs to veterinarian visits.“The problem for me with trying to say, ‘Hey, it’s time to pause,’ is we’re not even sure that we’ve got rates high enough to push services inflation down,” Minneapolis Fed PresidentNeel Kashkarisaid Tuesday.Investors in interest-rate futures markets now expect the Fed to raise rates to 5% by the spring, according to CME Group. Last month, most officials projected lifting rates to at least 4.6% next year.If officials decide to raise rates by 0.5 point, or 50 basis points, in December, they would have reason to worry about triggering another market rally, saidKathy Bostjancic, chief U.S. economist at Oxford Economics. “The equity market has been so eager to see pivots by the Fed,” she said. “Fed officials have to explain that 50 basis points is still a meaningful increase.”Investors are anticipating a sequence of pivots, from a slowdown in rate rises to a stop in rate rises to rate cuts. “They keep jumping ahead to the last pivot, and we’re a long way from the Fed cutting rates,” said Ms. Bostjancic. The July rally reversed part of an earlier run-up in mortgage rates, which in turn supported a rebound in the housing market. If another market rally erupted this fall, the Fed might have to raise rates more than anticipated to slow down the economy, saidJason Furman, a Harvard University economist who served as a top adviser to former President Obama.“The last thing you want is…to raise rates even more to undo all that,” said Mr. Furman.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{".IXIC":0.9,".SPX":0.9,".DJI":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":722,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9054503916,"gmtCreate":1655399993735,"gmtModify":1676535630976,"author":{"id":"3582186923187499","authorId":"3582186923187499","name":"DuckgeniusMY","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/35305016933b9ee5f9c55d728a31cc06","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3582186923187499","authorIdStr":"3582186923187499"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Cool","listText":"Cool","text":"Cool","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":2,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":5,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9054503916","repostId":"1149439450","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":644,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9071502724,"gmtCreate":1657549468768,"gmtModify":1676536023702,"author":{"id":"3582186923187499","authorId":"3582186923187499","name":"DuckgeniusMY","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/35305016933b9ee5f9c55d728a31cc06","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3582186923187499","authorIdStr":"3582186923187499"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Cool","listText":"Cool","text":"Cool","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":2,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":6,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9071502724","repostId":"1171662108","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":931,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9055750194,"gmtCreate":1655314983718,"gmtModify":1676535611300,"author":{"id":"3582186923187499","authorId":"3582186923187499","name":"DuckgeniusMY","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/35305016933b9ee5f9c55d728a31cc06","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3582186923187499","authorIdStr":"3582186923187499"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Cool","listText":"Cool","text":"Cool","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":2,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":4,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9055750194","repostId":"2243494679","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2243494679","kind":"highlight","pubTimestamp":1655306454,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/2243494679?lang=en_US&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2022-06-15 23:20","market":"us","language":"en","title":"NIO Could Fail In FQ2 2022 - But The Patient May Be Rewarded By H2 2022","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2243494679","media":"Seekingalpha","summary":"Investment ThesisIt is evident that NIO Inc. The company would need to go above and beyond the impossible to achieve its delivery guidance of at least 23K vehicles in FQ2'22, given that Tesla (TSLA) had also struggled to reach pre-lockdown deliveries in May 2022. Given the complexity of auto supply chains, it is unlikely that NIO would be able to report an impressive YoY comparison in FQ2'22, thus suggesting a stagnant stock valuation and prices moving forward, if not a retracement. As one of the leading companies in China, the company stands to gain critical market share from Tesla in China, in the EU market, and potentially in the US market, upon its eventual entry in the future.

Therefore, NIO stock is highly suitable for speculative long-term investors, despite its current lack of profitability and the political uncertainty in China.

NIO Reported Slowing Revenue Growth And Sustained Un-Profitability

NIO Revenue and Gross Income

S&P Capital IQ

NIO reported revenues of $1.56B in FQ1'22, representing a YoY increase of 27.8%, though in line sequentially. The deceleration in revenue growth is partly attributed to supply chain production capacity for now, though we expect to see improvements by H2'22. However, it is also apparent that there is increasing pressure on its gross margins, given that the company reports YoY lower gross margin of 14.6% in FQ1'22 compared to 19.5% in FQ1'21. With rising battery and chip costs, we expect NIO's gross margins to continue declining in FQ2'22 before potentially recovering once the price hikes kick in by FQ3'22.

In FQ1'22, NIO also delivered 25.7K vehicles for the quarter, representing in line sequentially and an exemplary increase of 37.6% YoY. NIO CEO William Bin Li said:

Despite the volatilities of the supply chain and the challenges in vehicle delivery resulting from the recent COVID-19 resurgence, we witnessed robust demand for our complementary products and achieved an all-time high order inflow in May 2022. The company has also been increasing its operational costs exponentially with a total of $595.6M expenses by FQ1'22, representing 38.1% of its revenues and an increase of 207.1% YoY. By FQ1'22, the company had increased its reliance on debt by over 11-fold from $0.15B to $1.75B, while also diluting its shareholder by 55.5% since its IPO in September 2018. In FY2021 alone, NIO spent $158.5M in SBC, while drastically increasing the expenses to $74.6M by FQ1'22, representing an increase of 390.2% YoY. Assuming a similar rate of SBC expenses, we may expect the company to report up to $300M for FY2022. That would be a concern for many early investors, given that the company is not expected to report net income profitability until FY2024.

NIO Will Most Likely Fail To Deliver In FQ2'22

NIO Projected Revenue and Net Income

S&P Capital IQ

Over the next three years, NIO is projected to grow its revenue at a CAGR of 55.36% while also achieving profitability by FY2024 with a net income of $0.34B. For FY2022, consensus estimates that the company will report revenues of $9.15B with net incomes of -$0.88B, representing impressive YoY growth of 61% and 50%, respectively.

Nonetheless, given the ongoing Zero Covid Policy in China, there is a likelihood of a downwards re-rating for NIO's FY2022 revenue, given Shanghai's continuous lockdowns. The company itself had guided FQ2'22 revenues in the range of $1.47B to $1.59B against consensus estimates of $1.79B, representing up to a 5.7% decline QoQ though a 12.2% growth YoY. We are also not convinced of NIO's delivery guidance of at least 23K vehicles for FQ2'22, given that the company had only delivered 5.074K and 7.042K vehicles in April and May 2022 respectively, thereby requiring an ambitious delivery of 10.884K vehicles in June 2022. Though rather unlikely, we shall anticipate its delivery update by early July 2022.

In contrast, we may expect improvement by H2'22 once NIO successfully expands its production capacity while also entering the auto market in Germany, The Netherlands, Sweden, and Denmark. Nonetheless, it is also important to note that these require an easing of China's Covid policy while a stabling of the global supply chain issues. As one of the leading companies in China, the company stands to gain critical market share from Tesla in China, in the EU market, and potentially in the US market, upon its eventual entry in the future.Therefore, NIO stock is highly suitable for speculative long-term investors, despite its current lack of profitability and the political uncertainty in China.NIO Reported Slowing Revenue Growth And Sustained Un-ProfitabilityNIO Revenue and Gross IncomeS&P Capital IQNIO reported revenues of $1.56B in FQ1'22, representing a YoY increase of 27.8%, though in line sequentially. The deceleration in revenue growth is partly attributed to supply chain production capacity for now, though we expect to see improvements by H2'22. However, it is also apparent that there is increasing pressure on its gross margins, given that the company reports YoY lower gross margin of 14.6% in FQ1'22 compared to 19.5% in FQ1'21. With rising battery and chip costs, we expect NIO's gross margins to continue declining in FQ2'22 before potentially recovering once the price hikes kick in by FQ3'22.In FQ1'22, NIO also delivered 25.7K vehicles for the quarter, representing in line sequentially and an exemplary increase of 37.6% YoY. NIO CEO William Bin Li said:Despite the volatilities of the supply chain and the challenges in vehicle delivery resulting from the recent COVID-19 resurgence, we witnessed robust demand for our complementary products and achieved an all-time high order inflow in May 2022. (Seeking Alpha)NIO Net Income and Net Income MarginS&P Capital IQNIO reported net incomes of -$287.8 and net income margins of -18.4% in FQ1'22, thereby highlighting its lack of profitability since its incorporation in 2014. The company has also been increasing its operational costs exponentially with a total of $595.6M expenses by FQ1'22, representing 38.1% of its revenues and an increase of 207.1% YoY. Nonetheless, given that NIO has kept its operating expenses relatively stable at an average of 33.6% in the past eight quarters, it is apparent that the management has been rather disciplined in cost control as well.NIO R&D and Selling General & Admin ExpensesS&P Capital IQNIO Long-Term Debt, Cash/ Equivalent, and Share DilutionS&P Capital IQDue to its lack of profitability, it is evident that NIO will likely rely on a combination of long-term debt and share-based compensation (SBC) for its expanding operations. By FQ1'22, the company had increased its reliance on debt by over 11-fold from $0.15B to $1.75B, while also diluting its shareholder by 55.5% since its IPO in September 2018. In FY2021 alone, NIO spent $158.5M in SBC, while drastically increasing the expenses to $74.6M by FQ1'22, representing an increase of 390.2% YoY. Assuming a similar rate of SBC expenses, we may expect the company to report up to $300M for FY2022. That would be a concern for many early investors, given that the company is not expected to report net income profitability until FY2024.NIO Will Most Likely Fail To Deliver In FQ2'22NIO Projected Revenue and Net IncomeS&P Capital IQOver the next three years, NIO is projected to grow its revenue at a CAGR of 55.36% while also achieving profitability by FY2024 with a net income of $0.34B. For FY2022, consensus estimates that the company will report revenues of $9.15B with net incomes of -$0.88B, representing impressive YoY growth of 61% and 50%, respectively.Nonetheless, given the ongoing Zero Covid Policy in China, there is a likelihood of a downwards re-rating for NIO's FY2022 revenue, given Shanghai's continuous lockdowns. The company itself had guided FQ2'22 revenues in the range of $1.47B to $1.59B against consensus estimates of $1.79B, representing up to a 5.7% decline QoQ though a 12.2% growth YoY. We are also not convinced of NIO's delivery guidance of at least 23K vehicles for FQ2'22, given that the company had only delivered 5.074K and 7.042K vehicles in April and May 2022 respectively, thereby requiring an ambitious delivery of 10.884K vehicles in June 2022. Though rather unlikely, we shall anticipate its delivery update by early July 2022.In contrast, we may expect improvement by H2'22 once NIO successfully expands its production capacity while also entering the auto market in Germany, The Netherlands, Sweden, and Denmark. Nonetheless, it is also important to note that these require an easing of China's Covid policy while a stabling of the global supply chain issues. We shall continue to monitor the situation.In the meantime, we encourage you to read our previous article on NIO, which would help you better understand its position and market opportunities.NIO: Down 55% With Supercharged Growth - Time To Buy NowSo, Is NIO Stock A Buy, Sell, or Hold? NIO 3Y EV/Revenue and P/E ValuationsS&P Capital IQNIO is currently trading at an EV/NTM Revenue of 2.58x and NTM P/E of -47.22x, lower than its 3Y mean of 7.12x and -83.60x, respectively. The stock is also trading at $18.14, down 67% from its 52 weeks high of $55.13, though at a 55.4% premium from its 52 weeks low of $11.67. It is apparent that the NIO stock has been on sideways price action since our last analysis in April 2022.NIO 3Y Stock PriceSeeking AlphaGiven the macro issues and China's unrelenting Zero Covid Policy, we are of the opinion that pain will not be ending anytime soon. Therefore, NIO's delivery would likely continue to be impacted until then, further reducing any chances of stock recovery in the short term.Though consensus estimates had rated NIO as an attractive buy with a price target of $38.33, we are of a more conservative opinion of a potential retracement by early July 2022, assuming that the company could not deliver on its FQ2'23 vehicle target. As a result, we encourage investors to wait for a deeper retracement before adding to their portfolio.Therefore, we rate NIO stock as a Hold for now.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"09866":0.6,"NIO":1,"NIO.SI":0.6}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":463,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9912766741,"gmtCreate":1664914945884,"gmtModify":1676537526552,"author":{"id":"3582186923187499","authorId":"3582186923187499","name":"DuckgeniusMY","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/35305016933b9ee5f9c55d728a31cc06","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3582186923187499","authorIdStr":"3582186923187499"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Cool","listText":"Cool","text":"Cool","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":7,"commentSize":18,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9912766741","repostId":"2272078402","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":996,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9073312619,"gmtCreate":1657282966831,"gmtModify":1676535984746,"author":{"id":"3582186923187499","authorId":"3582186923187499","name":"DuckgeniusMY","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/35305016933b9ee5f9c55d728a31cc06","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3582186923187499","authorIdStr":"3582186923187499"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Cool","listText":"Cool","text":"Cool","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":2,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":5,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9073312619","repostId":"1160585508","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":733,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0}],"lives":[]}
