stirred up waves throughout the digital world.

According to a report by the domestic media outlet Science and Technology Innovation Board Daily, supply chain sources say that the next-generation iPhone will be released in September this year, and this product may be named iPhone 12s or iPhone 13. It is reported that, unlike the iPhone 12 series, the next-generation iPhone series will undergo a comprehensive upgrade in design, screen, and camera configuration, and is expected to include under-display fingerprint unlock technology for the first time.

Coincidentally, the American media outlet Tom's Guide also recently reported that...AppleIn-display fingerprint technology is being developed for the next-generation iPhone 13. This feature, along with Face ID, will serve as an auxiliary biometric function, completely replacing the existence of passwords.

The various leaks about Apple's future models have made us even more curious about the shape of the next-generation iPhone.

Touch ID Coming back?

Apple fans' desire for Touch ID seems to be nothing new.

Touch ID is actually a fingerprint recognition technology used by Apple. Back in 2013, Apple first implemented Touch iD on the iPhone 5s, which won the hearts of a large number of Apple fans with its sensitive recognition and high security. Subsequently, this feature appeared on devices such as iPad and Mac, and was also very popular with Apple fans.

Unfortunately, in 2017, Apple launched its first full-screen model, the iPhone X. In order to completely eliminate the Home button from the iPhone, Apple has begun to gradually phase out Touch ID fingerprint recognition and instead adopt Face ID facial recognition. Thus, the iPhone series product line bid farewell to Touch iD for three years, until the appearance of the iPhone SE 2020 in 2020.

It now appears that although Apple has said \"we will not make a second solution,\" three years after Face ID went into mass production, Apple is indeed seriously considering the possibility of under-display fingerprints. Back in January of this year, many bloggers revealed that Apple planned to release an iPhone supporting dual unlocking functions with Touch ID and Face ID in 2021. However, the relevant supply chain manufacturers gave a \"no comment\" response, which made netizens feel more like \"disguised confirmation\".

In terms of technology, Apple filed a patent in November 2020. In its patent documents, Apple describes developing a technology called \"shortwave infrared optical imaging through electronic device displays,\" which can re-add Touch ID to the iPhone using infrared light and transmission display imaging technology without reintroducing a physical Home button.

In fact, this is not the first time Apple has submitted a patent related to fingerprint recognition. Since 2017, Apple has submitted research patents related to fingerprint recognition to the government every year. Apple did not abandon Touch ID in terms of hardware. At its launch event in September 2020, the new iPad Air did not use Face ID technology due to cost reasons, but instead used a side fingerprint for the first time. This shows that Apple does indeed have reserves of under-display fingerprint recognition technology.

Here's the question: Apple clearly has Face ID that doesn't require Touch, so why does it still use under-screen Touch ID on iPhones?

Admittedly, Face ID is very convenient. Simply point your Face at your phone to unlock, make online payments, and other features, providing users with a seamless interactive experience. However, this does not mean that it has no drawbacks. For example, during the pandemic, everyone wore masks when going out, which greatly reduced the recognition efficiency of Face ID, causing users to often manually enter a 6-digit password to unlock.

In addition, Face ID is very particular about the unlocking posture. Generally, Face ID can only be successfully unlocked when the light is sufficient and the Face is at the same level as the iPhone. In certain low-light environments or at specific angles, such as when you place your phone on a table, place it flat on a table, or lie on your side in bed, the chances of successfully unlocking Face ID will decrease significantly.

In contrast, Touch ID does not encounter this situation. Unlocking can be completed simply by placing your finger within the designated recognition area, which not only reduces the probability of unlocking failure but also eliminates the trouble of manually entering the password. As analysts have said, based on current information, it is entirely possible that Apple will add Touch ID to future iPhones, and its continuous patent submissions also tell us that Apple is not completely satisfied with Face ID.

This is the next generation iPhone

If Touch ID is about to return, what kind of iPhone will we see?

In terms of appearance design, according to foreign media 9to5Mac, the design of the next-generation iPhone will not change much compared to its predecessor. It will still feature the familiar front notch screen, square right-angled bezels, and the Lightning interface that has been continued to this day. Due to the increased battery capacity, the iPhone 13 will increase slightly in weight and thickness, and the 13's notch may also shrink, making it \"flatter\" and narrower longitudinally, while the width remains unchanged.

Regarding the screen, according to foreign media MacRumors, the iPhone 13 series will not come standard with a high refresh rate screen. Only the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max series will use a high refresh rate of 120Hz, while the screen of the traditional digital series will remain at 60Hz. In addition, these two high-end models may be equipped with LTPO OLED panels that support adaptive refresh rates to save power.

When talking about the screen, we have to talk about the notch of the iPhone 13 series. According to the latest renders, the notch of the iPhone 13 Pro has been significantly reduced. The reduced size of the screen notch also helps improve the visual experience, which means that the screen of the iPhone 13 Pro series can display more content, and the impact of the notch on screen occlusion will be reduced.

Finally, according to previous predictions, the upgrades to the next-generation iPhone will focus on the appearance and imaging system. According to the latest information released by Taiwanese media DigiTimes, all iPhone 13 models come standard with sensor displacement optical image stabilization. Unfortunately, the main camera of this phone will likely remain at 12 megapixels. Only the main cameras of the two Pro series will be upgraded to 6P lenses, with further increased apertures and autofocus support. These upgrades may be able to make up for the previous disadvantages of the iPhone Pro series in ultra-wide-angle night shooting.

sum up

Based on current intelligence, Xiao Lei believes that the chances of Touch ID returning are indeed quite high. From the perspective of user needs, according to a survey by foreign media SellCell.com, the vast majority of Apple users are currently looking forward to the return of Touch ID, accounting for as much as 21%. Other high-refresh rate screens, larger batteries, and smaller notches can only be second to none.

In terms of technology, under-display fingerprint technology on the market is now mature. According to supply chain data, with the continuous promotion of Android manufacturers, Goodix's optical fingerprint modules have achieved a leap in research and development in just a few years, with increasingly faster response speeds and lower module prices. If the under-display fingerprint solution is cheaper and has a better user experience than Face ID, then what reason does Apple have not to use it?

If the next-generation iPhone does incorporate under-display Touch ID, it would indicate that Apple is indeed considering users' needs. For users who dislike notch screens, Apple's return to Touch ID is undoubtedly a good thing. With Apple's endorsement, the new iPhone can easily connect to the original recognition system. From now on, even when I'm out and about, I won't have to be bothered by fingerprints, I won't have to manually enter a password while lying in bed, and I can even make payments with a single click. Everything will be so wonderful.
","source":"lsy1582507589608","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
The iPhone 13 now uses fingerprint recognition; it can really kill bangs!
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nThe iPhone 13 now uses fingerprint recognition; it can really kill bangs!\n
\n
\n
\n雷科技2021-06-23 23:07\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
Rumors about the next-generation iPhone have once again stirred up waves throughout the digital world.

According to a report by the domestic media outlet Science and Technology Innovation Board Daily, supply chain sources say that the next-generation iPhone will be released in September this year, and this product may be named iPhone 12s or iPhone 13.

Can it succeed this time?Frequently missing out on trends, Baidu falls behind.

When discussing Baidu, one inevitably brings up BAT (Baidu, Alibaba, Tencent), but with the advent of the post-internet era, Baidu has gradually fallen behind Alibaba.Tencent。 Baidu has fallen silent, and claims about falling behind are emerging one after another. According to the data disclosed by Baidu in the fourth quarter, the growth of Baidu's core business was sluggish. Although its profits depended on core businesses such as search, the search battle was fierce. Toutiao launched Toutiao Search to compete with Baidu Search.

In recent years, Baidu has tried its best to seize the opportunities presented by the internet, but the results have not been satisfactory, and it has repeatedly missed out on these opportunities. It has established a presence in many fields such as games, maps, forums, input methods, film and television, cloud storage, and even food delivery, but apart from its old business, it has not made waves in other areas. Apart from its established businesses, Baidu has achieved almost no success in other areas. In the cash-burning and difficult-to-mass-produce automotive industry, one can't help but wonder whether Baidu itself can really achieve success and carve out a share of the blue ocean.Apollo is struggling to make a profit, and chip technology challenges remain.

It is understood that Baidu tested autonomous vehicles in Beijing in 2013. In 2015, Baidu established the Baidu Autonomous Driving Unit (ADU); In April 2017, Baidu launched the Apollo program, an open platform for autonomous driving launched by Baidu in 2017. It was originally a free version for developers, but due to excessive losses, it had to charge a fee. When the Apollo platform was first released, Baidu did not manufacture its own cars, hoping to create standardized vehicles in the industry. However, Apollo's performance in recent years clearly shows that Baidu's autonomous driving business is still unable to take root and is difficult to achieve profitability.

In addition, a major challenge for car manufacturing remains the \"chip shortage.\" In 2020, global automakers experienced a \"chip shortage,\" which has already spread to mobile phone electronics.

With Apple's endorsement, the new iPhone can easily connect to the original recognition system. ,"news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"AAPL":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":3743,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":167742752,"gmtCreate":1624286311576,"gmtModify":1703832543269,"author":{"id":"3581921335829355","authorId":"3581921335829355","name":"Arms","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/c2c8e49056ea03d6f6104f3a181e08eb","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3581921335829355","idStr":"3581921335829355"},"themes":[],"title":"","htmlText":"goof","listText":"goof","text":"goof","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/167742752","repostId":"1166070003","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":3730,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":378649955,"gmtCreate":1619030929677,"gmtModify":1704718559238,"author":{"id":"3581921335829355","authorId":"3581921335829355","name":"Arms","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/c2c8e49056ea03d6f6104f3a181e08eb","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3581921335829355","idStr":"3581921335829355"},"themes":[],"title":"","htmlText":"h","listText":"h","text":"h","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/378649955","repostId":"2129887789","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2129887789","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1619017202,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/2129887789?lang=en_US&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-04-21 Apart from its established businesses, Baidu has achieved almost no success in other areas.

The world's largest chip manufacturer...TSMCChip prices rose three times in just five days. The chip shortage is making things even more difficult for car manufacturers, posing even greater challenges. Baidu, as one of them, is also facing the same problem.

According to Lao Liu, a veteran in the industry, Baidu had already begun to expand into the automotive industry. Although the layout was early, it failed to achieve results and instead dragged Baidu down as a whole. Building cars is extremely difficult, with numerous hardware and software problems and a shortage of chip technology. In the objective environment, there are major challenges. Can Baidu really build cars?Burning money into car manufacturing presents numerous new problems.

Burning money on car manufacturing is a recognized rule in the industry. CurrentlyNioHaving already suffered losses exceeding 30 billion yuan, Evergrande decided to invest 300 billion yuan in one go when manufacturing cars. Xiaomi announced a car manufacturing project with an initial investment of $10 billion. The report shows that Baidu achieved revenue of 30.3 billion yuan in the fourth quarter, exceeding market expectations for the fourth consecutive quarter. In 2020, the company's total revenue was 107.1 billion yuan, and its net profit (non-GAAP) was 22 billion yuan. Car manufacturing involves areas completely unfamiliar to Baidu, such as vehicle design, parts supply, and sales channel operation, all of which require investment. Baidu's growth is sluggish; how long can it burn through 10 billion yuan in profits?

Perhaps it was precisely because Baidu had so many obstacles that Baidu partnered with Geely to establish Jidu Auto, but details about the company's operations were not disclosed. Baidu is facing a series of new problems in car manufacturing. Previously, Baidu claimed that it would not manufacture cars during the Apollo project. Now, manufacturing cars independently is equivalent to changing the \"persona\" of the Apollo open platform. How should the previous cooperative relationship be built?

Manufacturing cars is a challenge, and achieving mass production is even more difficult. Many giants are investing in this field because they are eyeing a trillion-dollar blue ocean market. Baidu is an internet giant. It was also stated that Zhejiang Geely Holding Group Co., Ltd. will become a strategic partner of the new company.

On March 2, Baidu and Geely established a joint venture.smartThe automobile company, Jidu Auto Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Jidu Auto), has officially announced... It is reported that Baidu's AI algorithm gave the new company more than 100 names, and the final name chosen means \"the culmination of Baidu's AI capabilities\".

Baidu, one of the major internet companies, has shelved its home base in an attempt to tell a new story in car manufacturing and turn things around.

They wanted to take over YY to tell a good live streaming story, but it was too late, and their market value had also been...PinduoduoWhile internet startups like Meituan are catching up, the search engine business is showing signs of fatigue and growth is sluggish.

In Lao Liu's view, Baidu tried to seize every opportunity, but it was either too late or lacked technology, causing it to fall behind.

Entering the automotive industry requires more capital, time, and manpower. Car manufacturing requires specialized and refined supply chain management, which is a weakness of internet companies. Despite Geely's entry, the two inevitably clash in terms of corporate culture.

According to Lao Liu, Baidu's downward spiral has become obvious. Perhaps car manufacturing is an opportunity it urgently needs to seize to turn things around, but it has to face reality: Baidu faces a more complex situation.
