It will use net proceeds from the offering to invest in growth initiatives and maintain a strong balance sheet, the company said in a statement released Tuesday.
\n
GameStop is one of the Reddit-driven “meme” stocks that have soared this year. As retail traders have helped drive share prices of the so-called meme stocks higher, it’s been the companies that have benefited, said Greg Taylor, chief investment officer at Purpose Investments Inc.
\n
“It’s been a lifesaver for a lot of these companies,” Taylor said in an interview, with firms taking advantage of moves in their stock prices to raise cash and fix their balance sheets and operations. “These were businesses that were really under pressure.”
\n
GameStop’s shares were sold for an average of $225.20, based on a Bloomberg calculation, above the stock’s 50-day moving average of $193.09. The total amount of shares sold represents the full capacity of its ATM authorization. It had announced on June 9 that it planned to sell as much as 5 million shares via an ATM offering.
\n
An at-the-market offering deploys the historically unusual strategy of selling shares directly into the open market. Traditional stock offerings are sold almost entirely to institutional investors, but the rise of retail trading is leading corporate issuers with large followings among day traders like GameStop to cater their financings to go directly to individuals.
\n
It’s the second time this year that GameStop tapped equity markets after raising $551 million in April. It will use net proceeds from the offering to invest in growth initiatives and maintain a strong balance sheet, the company said in a statement released Tuesday.\nGameStop is one of the Reddit-driven “meme” stocks that have soared this year. As retail traders have helped drive share prices of the so-called meme stocks higher, it’s been the companies that have benefited, said Greg Taylor, chief investment officer at Purpose Investments Inc.\n“It’s been a lifesaver for a lot of these companies,” Taylor said in an interview, with firms taking advantage of moves in their stock prices to raise cash and fix their balance sheets and operations. “These were businesses that were really under pressure.”\nGameStop’s shares were sold for an average of $225.20, based on a Bloomberg calculation, above the stock’s 50-day moving average of $193.09. The total amount of shares sold represents the full capacity of its ATM authorization. It had announced on June 9 that it planned to sell as much as 5 million shares via an ATM offering.\nAn at-the-market offering deploys the historically unusual strategy of selling shares directly into the open market. Traditional stock offerings are sold almost entirely to institutional investors, but the rise of retail trading is leading corporate issuers with large followings among day traders like GameStop to cater their financings to go directly to individuals.\nIt’s the second time this year that GameStop tapped equity markets after raising $551 million in April. Meme stocks have been using at-the-market offerings to raise capital because they target the retail investors who’ve been driving up shares in the open market.\nThis is the latest at-the-market offering following similar programs by day-trader favorites like AMC Entertainment Holdings Inc., Express Inc., Castor Maritime Inc., Torchlight Energy Resources Inc. and Novavax Inc. over the past few weeks alone.\nDespite a sharp retrenchment since June 9, it’s still up over 1,000% in 2021. Boeing Co's 737 MAX 10, the largest member of its best-selling si","content":"
RENTON, Wash., June 18 (Reuters) - Boeing Co's 737 MAX 10, the largest member of its best-selling single-aisle airplane family, took off on its maiden flight on Friday, in a further step toward recovering from the safety grounding of a smaller model.
\n
The plane completed a roughly 2-1/2-hour flight over Washington State, returning to Renton Municipal Airport near Seattle at 12:38 p.m.
\n
The first flight heralds months of testing and safety certification work before the jet is expected to enter service in 2023.
\n
In an unusual departure from the PR buzz surrounding first flights, the event was kept low-key as Boeing tries to navigate overlapping crises caused by a 20-month grounding in the wake of two crashes and the COVID-19 pandemic.
\n
Boeing's 230-seat 737-10 is designed to close the gap between its 178-to-220-seat 737-9, and Airbus's 185-to-240-seat A321neo, which dominates the top end of the narrowbody jet market, worth some $3.5 trillion over 20 years.
\n
However, the market opportunity for the 737 MAX 10 is constrained by the jet's range of about 3,300 nautical miles (6,100 km), which falls short of the A321neo's roughly 4,000 nm.
\n
Boeing must also complete safety certification of the plane under a tougher regulatory climate following two fatal crashes of a smaller 737 MAX version grounded the model for nearly two years - with a safety ban still in place in China.
\n
Boeing has carried out design and training changes on the MAX family, which returned to U.S. operations in December.
\n
Boeing Commercial Airplanes CEO Stan Deal said the company is producing about 16 737 MAX jets a month at its Renton factory.
\n
Boeing is working on safety enhancements for the 737 MAX 10, including for its air data indication system and adding a third cockpit indication requested by European regulators of the \"angle of attack,\" a parameter needed to avoid stalling or losing lift.
Activist investor Ryan Cohen has built a 13% stake in GameStop and is leading an effort to transform the video-game retailer into an e-commerce powerhouse, away from its brick-and-mortar roots.\nThe unusual trading of GameStop and others has drawn the interest of the Securities and Exchange Commission. GameStop said earlier this month that it received a request from the agency’s staff for “voluntary production of documents and information concerning an SEC investigation into the trading activity in our securities and the securities of other companies.” GameStop doesn’t expect the inquiry to adversely affect the company.\nSome other meme stocks also rose Tuesday, with Clover Health Investments Corp. climbing 12%, while Express Inc. gained 11% and AMC Entertainment advanced 4.6%.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"AMC":0.9,"GME":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":2952,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":123895633,"gmtCreate":1624414743822,"gmtModify":1703835966396,"author":{"id":"3574854234943753","authorId":"3574854234943753","name":"Woohaha","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3574854234943753","idStr":"3574854234943753"},"themes":[],"title":"","htmlText":"hahahhahaa","listText":"hahahhahaa","text":"hahahhahaa","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/123895633","repostId":"1195773302","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1195773302","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1624414397,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1195773302?lang=en_US&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-06-23 10:13","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Pantera’s Morehead Scores Big Payoff on Bets Beyond Bitcoin","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1195773302","media":"Bloomberg","summary":"(Bloomberg) -- Dan Morehead, a veteran Bitcoin investor, is making more money at his hedge fund firm","content":"
(Bloomberg) -- Dan Morehead, a veteran Bitcoin investor, is making more money at his hedge fund firm by diversifying beyond the most popular cryptocurrency.
\n
“If you’re just long Bitcoin, it’s kind of like in the 90s being just long Yahoo -- you know, there were 30 other really important companies to invest in,” Morehead, the head of Pantera Capital Management, said in an interview at the Qatar Economic Forum, Powered by Bloomberg. “Now there are literally 100s of tokens that are liquid enough to trade.”
\n
Pantera’s liquid-token fund soared 166% this year through June 20, compared with a 24% gain for Bitcoin in the same period.
