Yet for investors who trusted Voyager with their retirement savings, down payments and emergency cash, the prospect that their investments might be gone forever is a wakeup call for those who believed large trading platforms offered a form of security.Aaron Selenica, 21, says he “fell into the crypto craze” last fall after hearing about Bitcoin from his friends and joining the University of Connecticut’s crypto club. He saw ads for Voyager at the school’s basketball games and eventually invested about $15,000 in Bitcoin on the platform. Now, his holdings are worth about $6,900 and he doubts he’ll even be able to get that back. He knew investing in crypto came with risks, but he never expected the platform to collapse.“It feels like I was robbed,” he said. “I just don't understand how this could be legal. I’m not going to invest on another platform. I’m done with crypto.”The recent crypto plunge, with Bitcoin down about 70% from its peak, is fueling widespread financial troubles for companies involved in the space. Lenders like Celsius Network, Babel Finance and Vauld have suspended withdrawals, while firms such asCoinbase Global Inc.are cutting jobs. The Voyager implosion is the latest debacle is what is now being called a crypto winter.Broken System“This type of downside risk can be pretty brutal,” said Mike Bailey, director of research at FBB Capital Partners. “In some ways, when investors suffer these kinds of losses, similar to when a bond goes to zero, it can feel like the system is broken. In this case, investors may believe an impression that the system has failed, leading to a desire to exit.”Read more: ‘There's So Much Fear:’ Crypto Winter Descends on TradersVoyager only just filed for bankruptcy and many legal questions remain unanswered. But the company made clear in its plan to exit bankruptcy that account holders will be “impaired” by the Chapter 11 process, which means they probably won’t get back all that they’re owed. The platform has about $1.3 billion in crypto assets.Crypto traders who can stillpull their moneyoff platforms are doing so quickly. The total balance on exchanges has fallen more than 20% from a Jan. 20 high, according to Glassnode. Meanwhile, on-chain activity for Bitcoin had dropped 13% in early July from the peak in November. For Telvin Hodo in Georgia, not having access to the money in his Voyager account could jeopardize his recent home purchase. The 29-year-old teacher invested about $11,000 over the past year on the platform in coins like Bitcoin, Dogecoin and Polkadot, along with some stablecoins. Now, the value of his holdings has dropped by about half, and he can’t even access any of the money, which he needs for the down payment and closing costs of his house.“It's terrible,” he said. “I can't buy or sell, and I don't know how long it’s going to be before I can.”Latest StormFor many crypto traders, watching the value of their holdings fall, at least occasionally, is to be expected. Losing that investment altogether is almost unfathomable.Ralpha Twam, a 39-year-old health care recruiter in New Jersey, thought his money was safe on Voyager because it’sFDIC insured. After first trying out crypto in 2017, he opened a Voyager account in November because he heard about rewards the company was offering, like a 9% average percentage yield. He mostly uses his account for short-term trading, but just deposited about $10,000 two weeks ago — still in U.S. dollars on the platform — and now can’t access any of it, despite the funds not being in any kind of crypto token. He said he feels like the company used “deceptive marketing tactics.”Voyager has said that those with US dollar deposits will be able to reclaim that money “after a reconciliation and fraud prevention process” is completed, but Twam isn’t optimistic.“It’s definitely a lesson learned that you have to do your diligence,” he said. “It’s so easy to get lured in, but you have to read the small print.”","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"COIN":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":1299,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9048152745,"gmtCreate":1656169602287,"gmtModify":1676535779252,"author":{"id":"3574286103228100","authorId":"3574286103228100","name":"Jinyuan","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/b083889e4ac40197a5ea0a1dcc0193c4","crmLevel":12,"crmLevelSwitch":1,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3574286103228100","authorIdStr":"3574286103228100"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Ok","listText":"Ok","text":"Ok","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":6,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9048152745","repostId":"1176316604","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1176316604","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1656201911,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1176316604?lang=en_US&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2022-06-26 08:05","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Got $5,000? This uncertainty stems from the federal interest rate hikes, inflation, and a potential recession -- all of which are causing investors to pull out of the market in droves. However, this is a mistake. Bear markets aren't uncommon; they occur once every three and a half years. Also, stocks tend to have some of their strongest performing days during recovery periods. Because of this, wise investors should be looking for great values to pick up during a market panic.I've got a list of five great buys that are due for a strong recovery when the bear market eventually ends. Investing $5,000 across these top-tier stocks, all of which are trading at comparatively low valuations, could be genius moves that you're sure to thank yourself for later.1. AlphabetAlphabet is the parent company of Google and YouTube, among others. It primarily generates revenue through advertisements across its platforms; however, advertisement spending tends to drop during recessions. As a result of this thinking, the stock has been sold off to an all-time low valuation. While Alphabet may see short-term headwinds, the long-term dominance of this business is undeniable. It's a free-cash-flow printing machine, generating $15 billion in the first quarter alone. With nearly $134 billion in cash on its balance sheet, Alphabet is built to weather any recession the economy throws at it.Another hidden benefit here lies in Alphabet's $70 billion stock buyback plan. This program will reduce the number of shares outstanding, which will make each share more valuable when the stock rises from its rock-bottom prices.2. NvidiaNvidia makes graphics process units (GPUs) that can be utilized for various tasks. Its biggest recent driver has been its data center division, which surpassed its gaming segment for the first time this quarter. In Q1 (ended May 1) of the 2023 fiscal year, Nvidia's data center division grew 83% year over year (YOY) to $3.75 billion, whereas gaming increased 31% YOY to $3.62 billion. With more businesses and consumer technologies moving to the cloud, Nvidia's data center will only continue to increase. In its recent conference call, analysts asked whether management was worried about its data center growth in regard the economic headwinds, to which CEO and founder Jensen Huang replied, \"Our data center demand is strong and remains strong.\"GPUs have become integrated with nearly every graphics or computing-related scenario, and Nvidia benefits significantly from that. With the stock trading for 44 times earnings, it's a solid value for a company that has consistently grown its revenue quarter after quarter and that was trading at a P/E ratio of over 100 late last year.3. AirbnbPeople were stuck inside their homes for two years and couldn't (or didn't want to) travel. Now people are traveling again, and companies like Airbnb (ABNB 8.14%) stand to benefit. In its Q1 results, revenue rose 70% YOY and is now up 80% over 2019's pre-pandemic numbers. This quarter was a record-setting one for Airbnb, and the future looks just as bright.Airbnb recently revamped its platform and now has many more options than the standard \"choose a location and date\" search function that travel websites have used for years. Now, customers can book multiple stays in one trip, investigate unique travel experiences, and utilize travel insurance.Airbnb estimates it will see a similar growth rate in Q2 as it did in Q1 and anticipates stronger-than-average demand for Q3 and Q4. Of course, this sentiment could shift if consumers decide to save money instead of traveling, but the long-term move to Airbnb away from standard hotel stays is quite evident.4. MercadoLibreIn Latin America, e-commerce is growing rapidly thanks to $MercadoLibre(MELI). Through the company's vast suite of offerings, Latin American residents can enjoy two-day shipping in many locations, digital payments, access to credit cards, and a large e-commerce marketplace.MercadoLibre trades for under four times sales. The last time it was this low? How about never. MercadoLibre didn't even trade this cheaply at the height of the Great Recession. This stock is an unbelievable value right now, and investors should be snatching up every share they can get.5. CrowdStrikeLast but not least is cybersecurity provider CrowdStrike. The previous four companies are affected by consumer strength, but not CrowdStrike. This company provides endpoint protection to devices that access a company's network, like laptops or phones. It uses a cloud-first approach that makes it data-rich and easy to integrate.Cybersecurity is an expense companies can't live without, and one many companies are behind in adopting. This necessity plays into CrowdStrike's favor regardless of economic conditions. The company also happens to be growing like a weed. Q1 commerce revenues rose 44% YOY to $1.3 billion and fintech revenues were up 113% to $971 million. However, as the U.S. economy slows down, international markets are likely to also be affected. Second-quarter results will reveal the strength of the Latin American consumer, but until then, investors need to check out how low this stock is valued. In FY 2023 Q1 (ending April 30), CrowdStrike reported annual recurring revenue (ARR) growth of 61% to $1.9 billion and converted 32% of its revenue into free cash flow. It also reiterated strong guidance for the rest of the year, with revenue expected to increase 52% over last year's total. The cybersecurity industry has massive tailwinds blowing in its favor, and CrowdStrike is in a prime position to capture market share regardless of economic conditions. The common theme with these five companies is that the stocks are down big right now, but if you examine them with a three- to five-year holding mindset, the returns can be immense.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"NVDA":0.9,"GOOG":0.9,"CRWD":0.9,"ABNB":0.9,"MELI":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":637,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0}],"hots":[{"id":355671300,"gmtCreate":1617071142100,"gmtModify":1704801559189,"author":{"id":"3574286103228100","authorId":"3574286103228100","name":"Jinyuan","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/b083889e4ac40197a5ea0a1dcc0193c4","crmLevel":12,"crmLevelSwitch":1,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3574286103228100","idStr":"3574286103228100"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Like and comment pls","listText":"Like and comment pls","text":"Like and comment pls","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":7,"commentSize":7,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/355671300","repostId":"2123607230","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2123607230","kind":"highlight","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"The leading daily newsletter for the latest financial and business news. 33Yrs Helping Stock Investors with Investing Insights, Tools, News & More.","home_visible":0,"media_name":"Investors","id":"1085713068","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/608dd68a89ed486e18f64efe3136266c"},"pubTimestamp":1617070299,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/2123607230?lang=en_US&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-03-30 10:11","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Beware The 11 Most Overvalued Stocks Now, Analysts Warn","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2123607230","media":"Investors","summary":"Analysts called the Tesla crash and the big tumble in video streamers' stocks. But their warnings are still going unheeded on a number of S&P 500 companies.","content":"<p>Analysts called the <b>Tesla</b> crash and the big tumble in video streamers' stocks. But their warnings are still going unheeded on a number of S&P 500 companies.</p><p>Nearly a dozen S&P 500 companies, including industrials <b>American Airlines</b> and <b>Snap-on</b> plus communications services <b><a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/LUMN\">Lumen Technologies</a></b> are still grossly overvalued compared to analysts' 12-month price targets on the stocks, says an Investor's Business Daily analysis of data from S&P Global Market Intelligence and MarketSmith.</p><p>By analysts' estimates, all 11 of these S&P 500 stocks are at least 10% overvalued. And the warnings come amid big run-ups in most of them. Investors are piling into stocks thought to benefit from a stronger economy. The 11 stocks are up an average 28.2% this year, while the SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust is up just 5.9%. What's more, eight of the 11 are up 20% or more in 2021 so far.</p><p>Seeing analysts dig in with warnings of lower price targets amid a rally, especially in cyclical stocks, is noteworthy.</p><p><b>S&P 500 Analysts Are Actually Bullish</b></p><p>Analysts have pounded the table warning of overvaluation of Tesla stock. And they also cautioned on shares of <b>ViacomCBS</b> and <b>Discovery</b> before they sold off.</p><p>But overall, analysts — like usual — are mostly bullish on S&P 500 stocks. Analysts' 12-month price targets on the individual stocks in the S&P 500 are 6.5% higher than Friday's closing prices.</p><p>And fundamentals back up the bullishness. Already this year, 60 companies told analysts their earnings in the current quarter will be better than they previously estimated, says John Butters, earnings analyst at Factset.</p><p>That's the highest number of S&P 500 companies issuing positive guidance for a quarter since at least 2006. Only about half that many companies were so positive on the same quarter a year ago. And that in turn means analysts now think S&P 500 companies' profit will jump 23.3% in the first quarter. They only saw a 15.8% jump in first quarter profit at the end of 2020.</p><p><b>But Analysts See Pockets Of Overvaluation</b></p><p>American Airlines is the S&P 500 stock analysts think is way beyond where it should be. And it's easy to see why.</p><p>Just this year, the airline's shares soared 45.4% to 22.93 a share. New investors piled into the airline's shares, even though it lost roughly $9 billion in 2020 as the pandemic all but shut down air travel. Analysts see a comeback, sort of. American is expected to only lose roughly $4 billion, or $7.61 a share, in 2021. But profitability isn't seen until 2022.</p><p>As a result, analysts' 12-month price target on American is just 15.47 a share. If that's right, it means the stock is 33% overvalued. And it doesn't have strong enough fundamentals to hold it up, either. The company's IBD Composite Rating is just 45. Do you know what to look at before buying American's stock?</p><p>Also in the industrials sector, analysts think tool seller Snap-on ran up too far, as well. Shares are up more than 34% this year to 229.63.</p><p>Unlike American, Snap-on has the fundamentals to back it up.</p><p>It sports a Composite Rating of 88. Snap-on's adjusted profit per share is seen hitting $12.44 in 2021, up nearly 7% from 2020. But again, analysts think the bulls are getting carried away. After all, profit fell 5% in 2020. So analysts think the company is only worth 190.33 a share in 12 months, or 16% less than it's trading now.</p><p><b>Watch Out For S&P 500 Dividend Darlings</b></p><p>High dividend payers in the S&P 500 are setting the markets on fire. All eight of the top yielding stocks in the S&P 500 are topping the index in 2021 so far. And that includes voice and data networking company, Lumen.</p><p>Lumen is known for its whopping 7.4% dividend yield. That's solid in a world when the S&P 500 yields just 1.5%. But it's even more famous among investors this year for a 35% jump in its stock price to 13.16. It's not exactly a screamingly positive fundamental story, either. Profit per share rose 26.5% in 2020. But profit is seen dropping 6.5% in 2021.</p><p>Analysts just think it's not worth what investors are paying. They're calling for Lumen to trade for 10.78 a share in 12 months, or 18% less than it is now.</p><p>It goes without saying analysts aren't always right. They're often wrong. But their warnings this year on S&P 500 high-flyers, though, have been spot on so worth at least listening to.</p><p><b>The Most Overvalued S&P 500 Stocks: Analysts</b></p><table><thead><tr><th>Company</th><th>Symbol</th><th>Target Price*</th><th>Stock YTD % Ch.</th><th>Implied Downside*</th><th>Sector</th><th>Composite Rating</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td>American Airlines</td><td></td><td>15.47</td><td>45.4%</td><td><b>-32.5%</b></td><td>Industrials</td><td>45</td></tr><tr><td>Lumen Technologies</td><td></td><td>10.78</td><td>35.0%</td><td><b>-18.1%</b></td><td>Communication Services</td><td>61</td></tr><tr><td>Snap-on</td><td></td><td>190.33</td><td>34.2%</td><td><b>-17.1%</b></td><td>Industrials</td><td>88</td></tr><tr><td>Nucor</td><td></td><td>66.38</td><td>49.1%</td><td><b>-16.3%</b></td><td>Materials</td><td>97</td></tr><tr><td>Expeditors International of Washington</td><td></td><td>91.64</td><td>13.3%</td><td><b>-15.0%</b></td><td>Industrials</td><td>80</td></tr><tr><td>Franklin Resources</td><td></td><td>25.47</td><td>17.6%</td><td><b>-13.4%</b></td><td>Financials</td><td>79</td></tr><tr><td>Genuine Parts</td><td></td><td>104.33</td><td>18.0%</td><td><b>-12.0%</b></td><td>Consumer Discretionary</td><td>64</td></tr><tr><td>Whirlpool</td><td></td><td>196.44</td><td>23.6%</td><td><b>-11.9%</b></td><td>Consumer Discretionary</td><td>91</td></tr><tr><td>Iron Mountain</td><td></td><td>33.25</td><td>26.5%</td><td><b>-10.8%</b></td><td>Real Estate</td><td>70</td></tr><tr><td>Unum</td><td></td><td>24.73</td><td>20.8%</td><td><b>-10.8%</b></td><td>Financials</td><td>59</td></tr><tr><td>A. direction.\"\n\"So, investors are going to wait until earnings season.\"\nThe Federal Reserve has repeatedly said that near-term price surges will not metastasize into lasting inflation, an assertion reflected in the University of Michigan's Consumer Sentiment report released on Friday, which showed inflation expectations easing from last month's spike.\nInvestors now turn their attention to the Fed's statement at the conclusion of next week's two-day monetary policy meeting, which will be parsed for clues regarding the central bank's timetable for raising key interest rates.\n\"Our view continues to be that inflationary data is transient and we will be around the 2% mark for the year,\" Pursche added.\nBenchmark U.S. Treasury yields posted their biggest weekly drop in nearly a year, weighing on the interest-sensitive financial sector in recent sessions.\nThe Food and Drug Administration is facing mounting criticism over its \"accelerated approval\" of Biogen Inc's\nAlzheimer's drug Aduhelm without strong evidence of its ability to combat the disease.\nBiogen shares, along with the broader healthcare sector ended the session lower.\nUnofficially, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 14.41 points, or 0.04%, to 34,480.65, the S&P 500 gained 8.29 points, or 0.20%, to 4,247.47 and the Nasdaq Composite added 49.09 points, or 0.35%, to 14,069.42.\nAmong the 11 major sectors in the S&P 500, healthcare suffered the biggest percentage drop.\nMuch of the trading volume this week was attributable to the ongoing social media-driven \"meme stock\" phenomenon, in which retail investors swarm around heavily shorted stocks.\nBut meme stock moves were more muted on Friday, with AMC Entertainment outperforming.\n(Reporting by Stephen Culp in New York Additional For leisure and travel stocks like <b>Airbnb</b> that got slammed by pandemic shutdowns, the lifting of Covid curbs means adjusting to a whole new world.</p><p>Some tastes people acquired last year as they looked for escapes from lockdown are proving durable, like traveling to national parks by RV. Others, such as boating, grew out of surges in wealth that the stock market rally provided. As the summer travel season heats up, Americans are making new choices in where they go, when they go, how they get there and who joins them.</p><p>\"The world is never going back to the way it was,\" said Airbnb CEO Brian Chesky on an earnings call in May. \"And that means that travel is never going back to the way it was either.\"</p><p>One major trend is travelers have become more flexible about when and where they go, especially as remote work allows people to blur when they are on and off the clock. Airbnb stock rose May 24, when the company updated booking features, including an option to search for listings without fixed dates or locations.</p><p>And consumers aren't the only ones changing their habits. While tourism-dependent destinations suffered last year, the less-packed streets also showed locals the benefits of quieter communities.</p><p>Residents and local officials in normally packed hot spots like Italy and Hawaii are considering limiting the number of tourists. Such a seismic change could make visiting these places prohibitively expensive for many people. If the mix of travelers tilts more heavily toward the wealthy, travel stocks will nudge further toward luxury.</p><h2>Leisure, Travel Industry Stocks</h2><p>Shares across the sector have rebounded from last year's pandemic lows. The stocks' recent chart action is mixed. But many travel stocks have outperformed the market the past week and could present buying opportunities for investors.</p><p>Airline stocks like <b>American Airlines</b>, <b>United Airlines</b> and <b>Delta Air Lines</b> surged earlier this year on the Reddit stock short squeeze. Then they sold off because business and overseas travel remained weak. Since then, they've consolidated and are approaching buy points.</p><p>Cruise stocks like <b>Carnival</b>, <b>Royal Caribbean</b> and <b>Norwegian Cruise Line</b> are showing similar patterns.</p><p>Meanwhile, shares of boat makers <b>MarineMax</b> and <b>Brunswick</b> as well as RV makers <b>Winnebago</b> and <b>Thor Industries</b> need to regroup after some failed breakouts. They are no longer in buy zones but could form new bases if earnings and sales growth remain strong.</p><p>Hotel leader <b>Marriott</b> has been less volatile and is forming a base, though earnings and sales have yet to fully recover.</p><p>Airbnb stock has had a more difficult year. It surged after going public in December but began to slump in March as competition from <b><a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/EXPE\">Expedia</a></b> rival Vrbo rental service reduced the availability of hosts. A mixed Q1 earnings report and the end of a post-IPO lockup period also weighed on Airbnb stock, which popped up 6% Thursday on higher volume but remained 35% off its 2021 high.</p><h2><b>When Luxury Means More Privacy</b></h2><p>Luxury travel, once the purview of only the ultrarich, may have won over those who might have had the means but not the need to travel lavishly. As travelers sought to avoid crowds during the pandemic, those with the means turned to options like private jets.</p><p>Arnie Weissman, editor-in-chief of Travel Weekly, says the pandemic opened luxury travel to a wider customer base. \"Some people developed a taste for it, and it's likely to continue.\"</p><p>Kim-Marie Evans, who writes the blog \"Luxury Travel Moms\" and plans travel for high-net-worth clients, told IBD she booked a trip for a family to Anguilla.</p><p>They stayed in a four-bedroom villa at the Four Seasons. And rather than flying commercially, they used a private jet service.</p><p>Private jet bookings are at or near their pre-pandemic highs, according to Elite Traveler, citing industry tracker FlightAware's data.</p><p>In May, private jet company Wheels Up said membership jumped 58% in Q1 to nearly 10,000. And VistaJet, another leading private jet company, said membership climbed 29% from a year ago.</p><p>Private jet leasing company NetJets, which is owned by <b>Berkshire Hathaway</b>, says its flight volume dropped to as low as 10% of 2019 numbers at the start of the pandemic.</p><p>Now the company, which also offers fractional ownership of its jets, says it's operating at 85% of its 2019 volume. NetJets said in a statement that commercial airlines have reduced their schedules. Consumers also are prioritizing their health and safety, choosing the seclusion of a private jet over a packed jetliner.</p><h2><b>Vacation Shift Favors These Travel Stocks</b></h2><p>Hotel chains implemented stringent Covid-19 protocols to convince visitors their properties were clean and safe. Still, many travelers opted to rent private homes through Airbnb, where they could avoid mingling with strangers in hotel lobbies, Weismann says.</p><p>Travel trends favor Airbnb stock long term, though it currently is slumping. On May 27, analysts at RBC Capital Markets rated shares at outperform, citing secular tailwinds that have yet to be fully appreciated by the market such as its dominant customer engagement.</p><p>The pandemic also shed light on the market potential of travel stocks like Marriott, which operates home-rental service Homes & Villas by Marriott International, catering to ultra premium short- and long-term stays, CFRA Research analyst Tuna Amobi says.</p><p>The Homes & Villas platform, which offers professionally managed private homes, had around 2,000 units at launch less than two years ago. Today, it lists nearly 25,000 properties.</p><p>\"They're where we don't have hotels, and many of them are in more remote locations, which really was quite attractive during Covid,\" said Marriott International President Stephanie Linnartz in a recent call with investors.</p><p>Airbnb also finds that customers are visiting smaller cities, towns and rural communities — not the same 20-30 cities that were most popular pre-pandemic. People are traveling outside the peak seasons and staying longer.</p><p>\"There is a mass shift from mass travel to meaningful travel,\" CEO Chesky said.</p><h2><b>Seaworthy Travel Stocks </b></h2><p>Luxury cruising should also come back with a bang. Nearly every cruise line's around-the-world luxury voyage is fully booked two years in advance.</p><p>One cruise line, Silversea, said its 139-day around-the-world cruise sold out in a single day. The Monaco-based cruise line is owned by Royal Caribbean. The cruise costs between $74,000 and $278,000 per guest, based on double occupancy. That compares with typical fares that start at $15,000-$20,000.</p><p>But others heading out to sea want to avoid crowded ships, which have seen outbreaks of coronavirus and other infections. The National Marine Manufacturers Association says new powerboat sales surged 34% in February compared to the same time period last year.</p><p>\"Inventory levels of new boats are the leanest they've ever been, and boats are being sold as soon as they hit the marketplace as manufacturers work to fulfill the backlog of orders,\" said Vicky Yu, senior director of business intelligence for NMMA. \"While new boat sales slowed in early 2021 following record sales last year, we are still seeing elevated levels as more Americans seek out boating as a way to spend quality time with loved ones.\"</p><p>The trend has pushed up leisure and travel stocks like boat retailers MarineMax and Brunswick as well as sport boat maker <b>Malibu Boats</b>.</p><p>\"It's really turning out to be a great alternative for people to stay close to home and with their family and friends and enjoy the boating lifestyle,\" MarineMax CFO Michael McLamb said in a conference call after reporting earnings April 22.</p><h2><b>Travel Stocks For Being Alone Together</b></h2><p>The desire to spend more time with friends and family is also spurring RV sales. They exploded in popularity during the pandemic, and sales data this year show demand remains high.</p><p>\"The rediscovery of America will continue this summer,\" Weissman said.</p><p>The pandemic accelerated long-term trends favoring the outdoors, Winnebago CEO Michael Happe said in a March earnings call. That includes power sports, boating and RVs.</p><p>Consumer priorities have changed, he added, toward a desire to invest in experiences vs. possessions.</p><p>\"We also believe the time (spent) recently with family and friends has reinforced that they'd like to do more of that in the future,\" Happe said. \"And families and individuals will be reevaluating how they spend their leisure time going forward.\"</p><p>Airbnb pointed to another sign of this trend among leisure and travel stocks. Instead of booking studio apartments in cities, more customers are booking entire homes with more bedrooms. As a result, the number of guests per reservation has increased.</p><h2><b>Work-Life Rebalance</b></h2><p>As people pay closer attention to their well-being post-Covid, another trend to watch is high-end wellness tourism with a focus on fitness, rejuvenation and health, Weissman says. That includes yoga and spa getaways as well as packages that offer cycling and hiking activities.</p><p>Meanwhile, the work-from-home shift allowed people to rethink other aspects of their lifestyle. In particular, they can try to balance work, leisure and travel differently.</p><p>Wedbush analyst James Hardiman says \"2020 was proof of concept that people can be productive, even more productive, while working remotely.\"</p><p>Airbnb says the share of bookings longer than 28 days jumped to 24% in Q1 from 14% in 2019. The company doesn't consider this travel.</p><p>\"People are not just traveling on Airbnb,\" Chesky said. \"They're now living on Airbnb.\"</p><h2>Future Of Business Travel?</h2><p>That also has implications for business travel, which is the most lucrative segment for travel stocks like airlines.</p><p>Experts say fewer workers may fly for <a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/AONE\">one</a>-day intracompany meetings. For leisure and travel stocks like <b>Airbnb</b> that got slammed by pandemic shutdowns, the lifting of Covid curbs means adjusting to a whole new world.</p><p>Some tastes people acquired last year as they looked for escapes from lockdown are proving durable, like traveling to national parks by RV.
