Fuel shortages
As of late March 2026, the Middle East conflict has closed the Strait of Hormuz, causing major oil disruptions. Countries reporting actual fuel shortages, rationing, queues, or station closures include: - Australia (local outages, 6 tankers canceled) - Pakistan (long queues, schools closed) - Sri Lanka (rationing, 4-day school weeks) - Myanmar (strict rationing) - Bangladesh (long queues) - Thailand (station lines) - Laos (40% stations closed) - Cambodia (1/3 stations closed) - Slovenia (pumps running dry) China banned fuel exports to prevent domestic issues. Situation evolving fast.
Inflation is expected to follow.
