Upcoming earnings from 27Jan2025 - source: FactSet

I am interested in the earnings of Microsoft, Meta, Apple, Tesla and ExxonMobil.

Let us look at ExxonMobil (XOM) in detail. Observations about ExxonMobil:

  • ExxonMobil's revenue has been fluctuating. In 2014 it generated $394 billion in 2023 close to $334 billion.

  • Gross profit in 2014 was $80.6 billion but in 2023 closed with $84.1 billion

  • The operating profit for 2014 was $34 billion and 2023 ended with $44.4 billion.

  • The best year for ExxonMobil was the year of 2022 with $398 billion in revenue and an operating profit of $64 billion.

  • The earnings per share (EPS) stood at $7.60 in 2014 and 2023 ended at $8.89. The best year was in 2022 when the EPS was $13.26.

  • The price-earnings (P/E) ratio of ExxonMobil stands at an attractive 14.2.

  • The 10-yearCAGR for free cash flow (FCF) is 11.5%

From investing dot com, the technical analysis recommends a “Strong Sell” rating. The Analysts’ Sentiment has a “Buy” rating with a price target of $129.56. This implies a potential upside of 10.23%.

The stock price gained 9.1% from a year ago.

For the coming earnings, the forecast of the EPS and Revenue are $1.77 and $85.35B respectively.

I think that ExxonMobil should benefit from President Trump’s energy focus. ExxonMobil looks attractive at the current P/E ratio and can be a good defensive play with dividends.
