all-time closi","content":"
NEW YORK, Aug 23 (Reuters) - Wall Street rallied on Monday, and the Nasdaq reached an all-time closing high as sentiment was boosted by full FDA approval of a COVID-19 vaccine and market participants looked ahead to the Jackson Hole Symposium expected to convene later this week.
\n
All three major U.S. stock indexes ended the session sharply higher, with the S&P 500 in the session's final minutes just failing to hold what would have been a record-high close.
\n
Surging crude prices, driven by expected demand growth, putting energy shares out front.
\n
\"This has been the script all along,\" said Peter Cardillo, chief market economist at Spartan Capital Securities in New York. \"We make new highs, pull back, and then we’re off to the races again.\"
\n
\"That tells me the fundamentals are in place,\" Cardillo added. \"There’s worries out there, but it’s hard to keep this market down.\"
\n
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) granted full approval to the COVID-19 vaccine developed by Pfizer Inc and BioNTech SE in a move that could accelerate inoculations in the United States.
\n
\"Full approval means that there’s most likely going to be more mandates, more companies will mandate that you have to get the vaccine in order to get back to the office,\" Cardillo said. \"I don’t think this will get all the doubters vaccinated but this news today will probably drive (the vaccinated rate) closer to 75%.\"
\n
Pfizer and U.S.-listed shares of BioNTech advanced 2.5% and 9.6%, respectively.
\n
Rival Moderna Inc gained 7.5%.
\n
Spiking COVID-19 infections caused by the highly contagious Delta variant have fueled concerns over a protracted recovery from the global health crisis.
\n
For an interactive graphic on worldwide vaccine deployment and access, click here
\n
Data released on Monday painted a \"Goldilocks\" portrait of an economic recovery headed in the right direction, but not enough to warrant a change in the Federal Reserve's dovish monetary policy, which helped feed investor risk appetite.
\n
Market participants look to the Jackson Hole Symposium, due to convene in Wyoming later this week. The comments of Fed Chairman Jerome Powell will be closely parsed for clues regarding the central bank's policy-tightening timeline.
\n
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 215.63 points, or 0.61%, to 35,335.71, the S&P 500 gained 37.86 points, or 0.85%, to 4,479.53 and the Nasdaq Composite added 227.99 points, or 1.55%, to 14,942.65.
\n
Of the 11 major sectors in the S&P 500, seven ended the session green, with energy enjoying its best day in nearly two months.
\n
Exxon Mobil Corp and Chevron Corp gained 4.1% and 2.6%, respectively.
\n
U.S.-listed shares of Trillium Therapeutics Inc soared 188.8% after Pfizer agreed to buy the cancer drug developer in a $2.26 billion deal.
\n
General Motors Co fell 1.3% following its announcement that it would take a $1 billion hit to expand the recall of its Chevrolet Bolt electric vehicles.
\n
Advancing issues outnumbered declining ones on the NYSE by a 2.46-to-1 ratio; on Nasdaq, a 2.81-to-1 ratio favored advancers.
\n
The S&P 500 posted 57 new 52-week highs and 1 new low; the Nasdaq Composite recorded 108 new highs and 54 new lows.
\n
Volume on U.S. exchanges was 8.63 billion shares, compared with the 9.15 billion average over the last 20 trading days.
","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; Sales from regulatory credits—a source of revenue seen as less sustainable than sales of vehicles—-fell, but operating profits rose to record highs because of strong profitability in the automotive division.
\n
Tesla generates the credits by making more than its fair share of zero- emission cars and sells them to manufacturers that still rely on internal-combustion engines. Pessimists on the stock believe that source of income will dwindle over time.
\n
The stock, however, was down 1.5% in early trading Tuesday. The S&P 500 and Dow Jones Industrial Average, for comparison, had fallen 0.6% and 0.4%, respectively.
\n
It is a muted reaction to a good quarter, typical of the way stocks of mature businesses behave. Tesla stock moved more than 10% in response to three of the four 2019 quarterly reports. But it rose or fell an average of about 2.5% in response to the 2020 earnings reports.
\n
The typical 2020 move was a fall in the price in response to news of better-than-expected results. The same thing happened after the release of results for the first quarter of 2021.
\n
That is another sign of maturity. A small drop in response to better-than-expected results is the typical outcome for stocks. Investors always expect companies to exceed analyst projections, and when they get that result, they “sell the news.”
\n
The reaction among Wall Street analysts to the latest results is yet another sign of maturity. Mizuho analyst Vijay Rakesh raised his target for Tesla’s stock price by $5 to $825 following the news, for a bump of less than 1%.
\n
Back in January, RBC analyst Joe Spak raised his target price to $700 a share from $339 after changing how he thought about Tesla’s business. That was a huge target-price change from a large broker.
\n
Smaller changes in price targets can indicate a business is becoming more stable, and that analysts believe they have a grip on what is happening. That reduces the need for them to dramatically overhaul their views in response to events.
\n
Overall, the average analyst target price is up about $18, or 3%, in reaction to Monday’s results to about $644 a share. Tesla shares are trading about 1% or 2% above the average analyst target price.
\n
Target prices generally reflect where analysts think a stock should trade to earn a fair return out into the future. The average target price on stocks in the S&P 500 implies a gain of 7%.
\n
Even the fact that Tesla is trading around its average analyst target price is a sign of maturity. A year ago, the average target price for Tesla stock was about $225, while the price was above $300.
\n
Shareholders and bulls on the stock might like a bigger response from the stock when earnings come in strong, but the days of 20% moves, up or down, might be gone for Tesla. Sales from regulatory credits—a source of revenue seen as less sustainable than sales of vehicles—-fell, but operating profits rose to record highs because of strong profitability in the automotive division.\nTesla generates the credits by making more than its fair share of zero- emission cars and sells them to manufacturers that still rely on internal-combustion engines. Pessimists on the stock believe that source of income will dwindle over time.\nThe stock, however, was down 1.5% in early trading Tuesday. The S&P 500 and Dow Jones Industrial Average, for comparison, had fallen 0.6% and 0.4%, respectively.\nIt is a muted reaction to a good quarter, typical of the way stocks of mature businesses behave. Tesla stock moved more than 10% in response to three of the four 2019 quarterly reports. But it rose or fell an average of about 2.5% in response to the 2020 earnings reports.\nThe typical 2020 move was a fall in the price in response to news of better-than-expected results. The same thing happened after the release of results for the first quarter of 2021.\nThat is another sign of maturity. A small drop in response to better-than-expected results is the typical outcome for stocks. Investors always expect companies to exceed analyst projections, and when they get that result, they “sell the news.”\nThe reaction among Wall Street analysts to the latest results is yet another sign of maturity. Mizuho analyst Vijay Rakesh raised his target for Tesla’s stock price by $5 to $825 following the news, for a bump of less than 1%.\nBack in January, RBC analyst Joe Spak raised his target price to $700 a share from $339 after changing how he thought about Tesla’s business. That was a huge target-price change from a large broker.\nSmaller changes in price targets can indicate a business is becoming more stable, and that analysts believe they have a grip on what is happening. That reduces the need for them to dramatically overhaul their views in response to events.\nOverall, the average analyst target price is up about $18, or 3%, in reaction to Monday’s results to about $644 a share. Tesla shares are trading about 1% or 2% above the average analyst target price.\nTarget prices generally reflect where analysts think a stock should trade to earn a fair return out into the future. The average target price on stocks in the S&P 500 implies a gain of 7%.\nEven the fact that Tesla is trading around its average analyst target price is a sign of maturity. A year ago, the average target price for Tesla stock was about $225, while the price was above $300.\nShareholders and bulls on the stock might like a bigger response from the stock when earnings come in strong, but the days of 20% moves, up or down, might be gone for Tesla. That is more evidence that Tesla is here to stay as the world’s most valuable car company.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"TSLA":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":1378,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[{"author":{"id":"3555322280934257","authorId":"3555322280934257","name":"geraldwwx","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/bccdb31724278699a26408ea1426d1d2","crmLevel":12,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"idStr":"3555322280934257","authorIdStr":"3555322280934257"},"content":"Glad there are ppl like u who understands and give others clarity","text":"Glad there are ppl like u who understands and give others clarity","html":"Glad there are ppl like u who understands and give others clarity"}],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":839159013,"gmtCreate":1629128423532,"gmtModify":1676529941269,"author":{"id":"3580942055840541","authorId":"3580942055840541","name":"Jimchanfc","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/d38914f80f89dfb4ac6b61f5166d33f3","crmLevel":12,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3580942055840541","authorIdStr":"3580942055840541"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Like pls ","listText":"Like pls ","text":"Like pls","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":9,"commentSize":4,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/839159013","repostId":"1135212237","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1135212237","kind":"news","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Providing stock market headlines, business news, financials and earnings ","home_visible":1,"media_name":"Tiger Newspress","id":"1079075236","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/8274c5b9d4c2852bfb1c4d6ce16c68ba"},"pubTimestamp":1629125001,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1135212237?lang=en_US&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-08-16 22:43","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Big tech stocks fell in morning trading, Apple fell over 1% after reaching record high","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1135212237","media":"Tiger Newspress","summary":"(Aug 16) Big tech stocks fell in morning trading. As Curvature Securities repo guru,Scott Skyrm wrote last week, \"clearly the Fed intends to move overnight rates above zero and drain the RRP facility of cash.\" Unfortunately, the end result would be precisely the opposite of what the Fed had wanted to achieve.
\n
But what does this really mean for overnight rates and RRP volume? As Skyrm further noted, the increase in the IOER should pull the daily fed funds rate 5 basis points higher and, in turn, put upward pressure on Repo GC. Combined with the 5 basis point increase in RRP, GC should move a solid 5 basis points higher, which it has.
\n
The problem, as Skyrm warned, is that the Fed's technical adjustment would do nothing to ease the RRP volume:
\n
\n When market Repo rates were at 0% and the RRP rate was at zero, ~$500 billion went into the RRP. Well, if both market Repo rates and the RRP rate are 5 basis points higher, there's no reason to pull cash out of the RRP. For example, if GC rates moved to .05% and the RRP rate stayed at zero, investor preferences to invest at a higher rate would remove cash from the RRP.\n
\n
Bottom line: with both market rates and RRP at .05%, there's really no economic incentive for cash investors to move cash to the Repo market. Or, as we summarized, \"the Fed's rate change may have zero impact on the Fed's reverse repo facility, or the record half a trillion in cash parked there.\"
\n
In retrospect, boy was that an understatement, because just one day later the already record usage of the Fed's Reverse Repo facility spiked by a record 50%, exploding to a staggering $756 billion (it closed Friday at $747 billion) as the GSEs.
\n
Needless to say, flooding the Fed's RRP facility and sterilizing reserves is hardly what the Fed had intended, and as Credit Suisse's own repo guru (and former NY Fed staffer) Zoltan Pozsar wrote in his post-mortem, \"the re-priced RRP facility will become a problem for the banking system fast:the banking system is going from being asset constrained (deposits flooding in, but nowhere to lend them but to the Fed), to being liability constrained (deposits slipping away and nowhere to replace them but in the money market).\"
\n
What he means by that is that whereas previously the RRP rate of 0.00% did notrewardallocation of inert, excess reserves but merely provided a place to park them, now that the Fed is providing a generous yield pick up compared to rates offered by trillions in Bills, we are about to see a sea-change in the overnight, money-market, as trillions in capital reallocate away from traditional investments and into the the Fed's RRP.
\n
In other words, as Pozsar puts it, \"the RRP facility started to sterilize reserves... with more to come.\" And just as Deutsche Bank explained why the Fed's signaling was an r* policy error, to Pozsar, the Fedalsomade a policy error - only this time with its technical rates - by steriling reserves because \"it’s one thing to raise the rate on the RRP facility when an increase was not strictly speaking necessary, and it’s another to raise it “unduly” high – as one money fund manager put it, “yesterday we could not even get a basis points a year; to get endless paper at five basis points from the most trusted counterparty is a dream come true.\"
\n
He's right: while 0bps may have been viewed by many as too low, it was hardly catastrophic for now (Credit Suisse was one of those predicting no administered rate hike),5bps is too generous, according to Pozsar who warns that the new reverse repo ratewill upset the state of \"singularity\"and \"like heat-seeking missiles, money market investors move hundreds of billions, making sharp, 90º turns hunting for even a basis point of yield at the zero bound –at 5 bps, money funds have an incentive to trade out of all their Treasury bills and park cash at the RRP facility.\"
\n
Indeed, as shown below, bills yield less than 5 bps out to 6 months, and money funds have over $2 trillion of bills. They got an the incentive to sell, while others have the incentive to buy: institutions whose deposits have been “tolerated” by banks until now earning zero interest have an incentive to harvest the 0-5 bps range the bill curve has to offer. Putting your cash at a basis point in bills is better than deposits at zero.So the sterilization of reserves begins, and so the o/n RRP facility turns from a largely passive tool that provided an interest rate floor to the deposits that large banks have been pushing away, into an active tool that \"sucks\" the deposits away that banks decided to retain.
\n
To help readers visualize what is going on, the Credit Suisse strategist suggest the following \"extreme\" thought experiment: most of the “Covid-19” deposits currently with banks go into the bill market where rates are better. Money funds sell bills to institutional investors that currently keep their cash at banks, and money funds swap bills for o/n RRPs. Said (somewhat) simply, while previously the Fed provided banks with a convenient place to park reserves, it now will actively drain reserves to the point where we may end up with another 2019-style repo crisis, as most financial institutions suddenly find themsleves withtoo fewintraday reserves, forcing them to use the Fed's other funding facilities (such as FX swap lines) to remain consistently solvent.
\n
This process is not overnight. It will take a few weeks to observe the fallout from the Fed's reserve sterilization.
\n
And here is why the problem is similar to the repo crisis of 2019: soon we will find that while cash-rich banks can handle the outflows, some bond-heavy banks cannot. As a result, Zoltan predicts that next \"we will notice that some banks (those who cannothandle outflows) are borrowing advances from FHLBs, and cash-rich banks stop lending in the FX swap market as the RRP facility pulled reserves away from them and the Fed has to re-start the FX swap lines to offset.\"
\n
Bottom line:whereas previously we saw Libor-OIS collapse, this key funding spread will have to widen from here, unless the Fed lowers the o/n RRP rate again back to where it was before.
\n
Or, as Zoltan summarizes, \"It’s either quantities or prices\" - indeed,in 2019 the Fed chose prices over quantities, which backfired, and led to the repo crisis which ended the Fed's hiking cycle and started \"NOT QE.\"While the Fed redeemed itself in February, when it expanded the usage of the RRP without making it liability-constrained as it chose quantities over prices - which worked well - last Wednesday, the Fed turned “unlimited” quantities into “money for free” and started to sterilize reserves.
\n
Bottom line: \"we are witnessing the dealer of last resort (DoLR) learning the art of dealing, making unforced errors – if the Fed sterilizes with an overpriced o/n RRP facility, it has to be ready to add liquidity via the swap lines…\"
\n
Translation: by paying trillions in reserves 5bps, the Fed just planted the seeds of the next liquidity crisis.
","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; As Curvature Securities repo guru,Scott Skyrm wrote last week, \"clearly the Fed intends to move overnight rates above zero and drain the RRP facility of cash.\" Unfortunately, the end result would be precisely the opposite of what the Fed had wanted to achieve.\nBut what does this really mean for overnight rates and RRP volume? As Skyrm further noted, the increase in the IOER should pull the daily fed funds rate 5 basis points higher and, in turn, put upward pressure on Repo GC. Combined with the 5 basis point increase in RRP, GC should move a solid 5 basis points higher, which it has.\nThe problem, as Skyrm warned, is that the Fed's technical adjustment would do nothing to ease the RRP volume:\n\n When market Repo rates were at 0% and the RRP rate was at zero, ~$500 billion went into the RRP. Well, if both market Repo rates and the RRP rate are 5 basis points higher, there's no reason to pull cash out of the RRP. For example, if GC rates moved to .05% and the RRP rate stayed at zero, investor preferences to invest at a higher rate would remove cash from the RRP.\n\nBottom line: with both market rates and RRP at .05%, there's really no economic incentive for cash investors to move cash to the Repo market. Or, as we summarized, \"the Fed's rate change may have zero impact on the Fed's reverse repo facility, or the record half a trillion in cash parked there.\"\nIn retrospect, boy was that an understatement, because just one day later the already record usage of the Fed's Reverse Repo facility spiked by a record 50%, exploding to a staggering $756 billion (it closed Friday at $747 billion) as the GSEs.\nNeedless to say, flooding the Fed's RRP facility and sterilizing reserves is hardly what the Fed had intended, and as Credit Suisse's own repo guru (and former NY Fed staffer) Zoltan Pozsar wrote in his post-mortem, \"the re-priced RRP facility will become a problem for the banking system fast:the banking system is going from being asset constrained (deposits flooding in, but nowhere to lend them but to the Fed), to being liability constrained (deposits slipping away and nowhere to replace them but in the money market).\"\nWhat he means by that is that whereas previously the RRP rate of 0.00% did notrewardallocation of inert, excess reserves but merely provided a place to park them, now that the Fed is providing a generous yield pick up compared to rates offered by trillions in Bills, we are about to see a sea-change in the overnight, money-market, as trillions in capital reallocate away from traditional investments and into the the Fed's RRP.\nIn other words, as Pozsar puts it, \"the RRP facility started to sterilize reserves... with more to come.\" And just as Deutsche Bank explained why the Fed's signaling was an r* policy error, to Pozsar, the Fedalsomade a policy error - only this time with its technical rates - by steriling reserves because \"it’s one thing to raise the rate on the RRP facility when an increase was not strictly speaking necessary, and it’s another to raise it “unduly” high – as one money fund manager put it, “yesterday we could not even get a basis points a year; to get endless paper at five basis points from the most trusted counterparty is a dream come true.\"\nHe's right: while 0bps may have been viewed by many as too low, it was hardly catastrophic for now (Credit Suisse was one of those predicting no administered rate hike),5bps is too generous, according to Pozsar who warns that the new reverse repo ratewill upset the state of \"singularity\"and \"like heat-seeking missiles, money market investors move hundreds of billions, making sharp, 90º turns hunting for even a basis point of yield at the zero bound –at 5 bps, money funds have an incentive to trade out of all their Treasury bills and park cash at the RRP facility.\"\nIndeed, as shown below, bills yield less than 5 bps out to 6 months, and money funds have over $2 trillion of bills. They got an the incentive to sell, while others have the incentive to buy: institutions whose deposits have been “tolerated” by banks until now earning zero interest have an incentive to harvest the 0-5 bps range the bill curve has to offer. Putting your cash at a basis point in bills is better than deposits at zero.So the sterilization of reserves begins, and so the o/n RRP facility turns from a largely passive tool that provided an interest rate floor to the deposits that large banks have been pushing away, into an active tool that \"sucks\" the deposits away that banks decided to retain.\nTo help readers visualize what is going on, the Credit Suisse strategist suggest the following \"extreme\" thought experiment: most of the “Covid-19” deposits currently with banks go into the bill market where rates are better. Money funds sell bills to institutional investors that currently keep their cash at banks, and money funds swap bills for o/n RRPs. Said (somewhat) simply, while previously the Fed provided banks with a convenient place to park reserves, it now will actively drain reserves to the point where we may end up with another 2019-style repo crisis, as most financial institutions suddenly find themsleves withtoo fewintraday reserves, forcing them to use the Fed's other funding facilities (such as FX swap lines) to remain consistently solvent.\nThis process is not overnight. It will take a few weeks to observe the fallout from the Fed's reserve sterilization.\nAnd here is why the problem is similar to the repo crisis of 2019: soon we will find that while cash-rich banks can handle the outflows, some bond-heavy banks cannot. As a result, Zoltan predicts that next \"we will notice that some banks (those who cannothandle outflows) are borrowing advances from FHLBs, and cash-rich banks stop lending in the FX swap market as the RRP facility pulled reserves away from them and the Fed has to re-start the FX swap lines to offset.\"\nBottom line:whereas previously we saw Libor-OIS collapse, this key funding spread will have to widen from here, unless the Fed lowers the o/n RRP rate again back to where it was before.\nOr, as Zoltan summarizes, \"It’s either quantities or prices\" - indeed,in 2019 the Fed chose prices over quantities, which backfired, and led to the repo crisis which ended the Fed's hiking cycle and started \"NOT QE.\"While the Fed redeemed itself in February, when it expanded the usage of the RRP without making it liability-constrained as it chose quantities over prices - which worked well - last Wednesday, the Fed turned “unlimited” quantities into “money for free” and started to sterilize reserves.\nBottom line: \"we are witnessing the dealer of last resort (DoLR) learning the art of dealing, making unforced errors – if the Fed sterilizes with an overpriced o/n RRP facility, it has to be ready to add liquidity via the swap lines…\"\nTranslation: by paying trillions in reserves 5bps, the Fed just planted the seeds of the next liquidity crisis.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{".SPX":0.9,"SPY":0.9,".DJI":0.9,".IXIC":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":519,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":118092090,"gmtCreate":1622706442310,"gmtModify":1704189302070,"author":{"id":"3580942055840541","authorId":"3580942055840541","name":"Jimchanfc","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/d38914f80f89dfb4ac6b61f5166d33f3","crmLevel":12,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3580942055840541","authorIdStr":"3580942055840541"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Like and comment pls ","listText":"Like and comment pls ","text":"Like and comment pls","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":7,"commentSize":3,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/118092090","repostId":"1146528217","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1146528217","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1622695494,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1146528217?lang=en_US&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-06-03 12:44","market":"hk","language":"en","title":"Ignore Dogecoin -- These 3 Unique Stocks Are Infinitely Better Buys","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1146528217","media":"The motley fool","summary":"These interesting companies are targeting huge market opportunities -- and can help keep your portfolio afloat in any market condition.Dogecoinhas emerged as one of the most hyped assets in the market today. This is understandable, considering that the cryptocurrency is up 7,733% so far this year, far ahead of the benchmarkS&P 500's returns of 11.84% in the same time frame.

Investors, however, should also consider Dogecoin's high volatility. Dogecoin has tanked by more than 50% from its all-time high of $0.74 in the past month (so, yes, at one point it was up more than 14,000%). This cryptocurrency is not backed by any asset and hardly has anysustainable advantageover rivals in terms of transaction fees or processing and settlement speeds. And with no hard limit to the number of Dogecoins that can be mined, this cryptocurrency is extremely sensitive to headline risk.

This makes Dogecoin a highly speculative investment for retail investors -- one that should mostly be avoided. Instead,NVIDIA(NASDAQ:NVDA),Skillz(NYSE:SKLZ), andJushi Holdings(OTC:JUSHF)can prove much better portfolio holdings in the long run.

1. NVIDIA

If you want to invest in leading-edge semiconductor technology powering artificial intelligence, cloud computing, autonomous driving, 5G, and several other next-generation trends, then NVIDIA may be exactly the right stock for you.

In the first quarter of fiscal 2022 (ending May 2), NVIDIA reported stellar performance, despite the ongoing global semiconductor shortage. Revenue jumped 84% year over year to $5.66 billion, and diluted earnings per share (EPS) soared 106% to $3.03. In the first quarter, gaming revenue was up 106% year over year to $2.76 billion, while data center revenue jumped 79% year over year to $2.05 billion.

Long known as a leader in the gaming space for its graphic processing units (GPUs), NVIDIA further strengthened that position by launching GeForce RTX 30 Series GPUs in September. Since then, GeForce has triggered a massive GPU upgrade cycle in the gaming industry, and demand for NVIDIA-powered laptops and desktops from students, gamers, and creators has been outstripping supply.

In fact, the RTX 30 series has played a pivotal role in helping NVIDIArecapture some shareof the discrete GPU market fromAdvanced Micro Devices(NASDAQ:AMD). (\"Discrete GPU\" refers to a GPU which is separate from the central processing unit, or CPU.) Subsequently, the company ended 2020 with83% of the discrete GPUmarket share.

NVIDIA's data center segment is witnessing solid demand from massive data-center customers building infrastructure for providing AI capabilities to their clients. Management has also announced plans to launch their first data center central processing unit (CPU), theARM-based\"Grace\" chip, by 2023. With the capability to work 10 times faster than existing servers, Grace CPU can further strengthen NVIDIA's position in the global data center market.

With this backdrop, although NVIDIA trades at more than 40.8 times forward earnings, the premium valuation seems justified. Investors can earn handsome returns by picking up this market-leading semiconductor stock even at these elevated levels.

2. Skillz

Mobile esports platform Skillz has been on a wild ride in the past few months. The company IPOed via the special purpose acquisition company (SPAC) route at an opening price of $17.89 in December, reached as high as $46.30 in February, and then tanked to an all-time low of $12.40 in April. The dramatic drop has been associated with several factors, including investors moving from growth to value stocks, some adverse short-seller reports, ill-timed capital raises, and equity dilution involving significant insider selling.

The sheer magnitude of Skillz's sell-off, however, seems unjustified. Skillz provides mobile game developers with a platform to organize competitions and then collects15% of the gross proceedspaid by players participating in these competitions. In the first quarter of fiscal 2021 (ending March 31), Skillz's monthly active users rose by 3.8% year over year to 2.7 million, and paying user count jumped by 81% to 467,000.

In an open letter to retail investors, Skillz founder and CEO Andrew Paradise highlighted the platform's high engagement level, noting that once users start paying, they stay with the company for the long run. While Skillz is currently focused only on paying users, Paradise's letter noted plans to explore other monetization methods, such as \"non-intrusive advertising\" and \"gamifying other industries and experiences,\" to add new revenue streams in the coming years.

In the first quarter, Skillz's revenues jumped 92% year over year to $84 million, ahead of its previous guidance of $80 million. The company also bumped up its year-over-year fiscal 2021 revenue growth estimate from 59% to 63%. However, this guidance does not include the potential gains from new game launches or entering new geographies.

The company has entered into a multi-year gaming agreement with the National Football League (NFL). While this deal will not add materially to Skillz's top line in fiscal 2021, it will attract more users to the platform. The company also plans to enter India by the end of fiscal 2021, a move expected to grow its addressable market by 65%. Against this backdrop, chances of Skillz reporting a steep revenue growth trajectory in coming quarters remains high.

Currently trading at 31 times trailing 12-month (TTM) sales, Skillz is still quite expensive, especially given that it's not profitable. However, the company is a solid bet on the growth potential of the mobile gaming market, which has expanded annually at a compounded average growth rate of 23% between 2015 and 2020. With a gross margin of 95%, a cash balance of $613 million, and zero debt, Skillz offers an attractive risk-reward proposition to retail investors.

3. Jushi Holdings

Shares of U.S. multi-state cannabis operator Jushi Holdings are up over 450% in the past 12 months -- and for a good reason. Although it's among the smallerU.S. cannabis companies, the company hasstrategically selected marketswith high growth potential and limited competition in which to operate, including Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Illinois, California, Nevada, and Massachusetts.

Jushi currently operates 11 medical marijuana dispensaries in Pennsylvania and plans to open an additional seven in 2021. This footprint seems even more impressive considering the fact that Pennsylvania's limited licensing structure reduces competition.

There are 528,000 registered medical marijuana patients in Pennsylvania, and the market is expected to rake in $1.5 billion in revenues by 2023, meaning that Jushi stands to benefit dramatically in coming months. As Pennsylvania moves toward legalizing recreational marijuana, which is a major topic ahead of 2022 elections, Jushi's extensive presence can help establish its brands rapidly in this new market.

Jushi currently operates four dispensaries in Illinois, a state which legalized sales of recreational cannabis starting Jan. 1, 2020. With an estimated 2021 annual run rate of $1.3 billion, Illinois is well-positioned to be a major revenue driver for the company. The company also holds one of the only five vertically integrated licenses in Virginia -- allowing it to cultivate, process, and sell medical cannabis to customers in a market with limited competition. Virginia is expected to commence recreational cannabis sales in 2024, which will further boost Jushi's addressable market.

In first-quarter 2021 (ending March 31), Jushi's revenues rose 29% sequentially to $41.7 million. The company also has a strong balance sheet with $168 million cash and $82 million debt. Against the backdrop of a robust strategy and solid financials, Jushi could prove to be an attractive investment for retail investors.
","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Ignore Dogecoin -- These 3 Unique Stocks Are Infinitely Better Buys
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nIgnore Dogecoin -- These 3 Unique Stocks Are Infinitely Better Buys\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-06-03 12:44 GMT+8 The motley fool\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
These interesting companies are targeting huge market opportunities -- and can help keep your portfolio afloat in any market condition.Dogecoin(CRYPTO:DOGE)has emerged as one of the most hyped assets ...
\n\nSource Link\n\n
\n\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n","type":0,"thumbnail":"","relate_stocks":{"JUSHF":"Jushi Holdings Inc.","NVDA":"英伟达","AMD":"美国超微公司","SKLZ":"Skillz Inc"},"source_url":"https://www.fool.com/investing/2021/06/02/ignore-dogecoin-these-3-unique-stocks-are-infinite/","is_english":true,"share_image_url":"https://static.laohu8.com/e9f99090a1c2ed51c021029395664489","article_id":"1146528217","content_text":"These interesting companies are targeting huge market opportunities -- and can help keep your portfolio afloat in any market condition.Dogecoin(CRYPTO:DOGE)has emerged as one of the most hyped assets in the market today. The company also bumped up its year-over-year fiscal 2021 revenue growth estimate from 59% to 63%. However, this guidance does not include the potential gains from new game launches or entering new geographies.The company has entered into a multi-year gaming agreement with the National Football League (NFL). While this deal will not add materially to Skillz's top line in fiscal 2021, it will attract more users to the platform. The company also plans to enter India by the end of fiscal 2021, a move expected to grow its addressable market by 65%. Against this backdrop, chances of Skillz reporting a steep revenue growth trajectory in coming quarters remains high.Currently trading at 31 times trailing 12-month (TTM) sales, Skillz is still quite expensive, especially given that it's not profitable. However, the company is a solid bet on the growth potential of the mobile gaming market, which has expanded annually at a compounded average growth rate of 23% between 2015 and 2020. With a gross margin of 95%, a cash balance of $613 million, and zero debt, Skillz offers an attractive risk-reward proposition to retail investors.3. Jushi HoldingsShares of U.S. multi-state cannabis operator Jushi Holdings are up over 450% in the past 12 months -- and for a good reason. Although it's among the smallerU.S. cannabis companies, the company hasstrategically selected marketswith high growth potential and limited competition in which to operate, including Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Illinois, California, Nevada, and Massachusetts.Jushi currently operates 11 medical marijuana dispensaries in Pennsylvania and plans to open an additional seven in 2021. This footprint seems even more impressive considering the fact that Pennsylvania's limited licensing structure reduces competition.There are 528,000 registered medical marijuana patients in Pennsylvania, and the market is expected to rake in $1.5 billion in revenues by 2023, meaning that Jushi stands to benefit dramatically in coming months. As Pennsylvania moves toward legalizing recreational marijuana, which is a major topic ahead of 2022 elections, Jushi's extensive presence can help establish its brands rapidly in this new market.Jushi currently operates four dispensaries in Illinois, a state which legalized sales of recreational cannabis starting Jan. 1, 2020. With an estimated 2021 annual run rate of $1.3 billion, Illinois is well-positioned to be a major revenue driver for the company. The company also holds one of the only five vertically integrated licenses in Virginia -- allowing it to cultivate, process, and sell medical cannabis to customers in a market with limited competition. Virginia is expected to commence recreational cannabis sales in 2024, which will further boost Jushi's addressable market.In first-quarter 2021 (ending March 31), Jushi's revenues rose 29% sequentially to $41.7 million. The company also has a strong balance sheet with $168 million cash and $82 million debt. Against the backdrop of a robust strategy and solid financials, Jushi could prove to be an attractive investment for retail investors.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"AMD":0.9,"SKLZ":0.9,"NVDA":0.9,"JUSHF":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":779,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":807870748,"gmtCreate":1628032537484,"gmtModify":1703499790335,"author":{"id":"3580942055840541","authorId":"3580942055840541","name":"Jimchanfc","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/d38914f80f89dfb4ac6b61f5166d33f3","crmLevel":12,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3580942055840541","authorIdStr":"3580942055840541"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Comment and like pls","listText":"Comment and like pls","text":"Comment and like pls","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":6,"commentSize":3,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/807870748","repostId":"2156312793","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":941,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0}],"lives":[]}
