儘管關於蘋果增強現實（AR）頭顯研發進展的消息此起彼伏，你或許並不對這款產品能在2020年推出寄予厚望。有媒體報道稱，10月份蘋果舉行了一次內部展示會，預計將於2022年發佈AR頭顯（實際意義上的AR/VR混合頭顯），在2023年發佈一款AR眼鏡。如果消息屬實，則將有望突破AR技術的界限。
除此之外，目前AR眼鏡的研發也不盡如人意。該報道稱，現有的眼鏡原型類似於“奢侈太陽鏡”，通過“厚框架”來內置處理器和電池。目前，蘋果已經研發出眼鏡在使用時變暗和警告周圍人的技術，並且申請了專利，儘管這一技術真正投入使用的時間遙遙無期。但顯然，蘋果至少在技術上十分有信心。一位知情人士表示，蘋果高管在此次會議中向員工稱更高版本的眼鏡會在“大約十年內”完全消除人們對iPhone的需求。
