  • Blackstone announced the final close of Blackstone Energy Transition Partners V at US$8.7 billion, more than 50% larger than its predecessor fund.

  • Blackstone reported a 34% net internal rate of return for its energy transition strategy since 1997, measured as of June 30, 2026.

  • The fund is targeting power generation, electricity transmission, energy infrastructure and efficiency businesses, with six initial platform investments and acquisitions already announced.

Blackstone (NYSE:BX) closed its fifth energy transition private equity fund at US$8.7 billion, exceeding its predecessor's US$5.6 billion fundraising total by approximately 55%.

The oversubscribed fund reached its fundraising cap, while Blackstone reported a 34% net annualized internal rate of return for the strategy since 1997.

“We believe there is a generational opportunity for experienced investors in the energy transition to provide solutions to the challenges posed by growing demand for electricity,” said Blackstone Global Head of Energy Transition Partners David Foley.

BETP V began investing in June, backing Kindle, Fisterra and Viridon alongside acquisitions of Flow Control Holdings, Dresser Utility Solutions and DarkVision.

Blackstone expects to deploy the fund across energy infrastructure and efficiency businesses; following the announcement, its share-price reaction remained unverified.

Since January 2025, Blackstone's energy transition strategy has committed more than US$11 billion in equity investments across electricity infrastructure, equipment manufacturing and energy services.

Recent portfolio transactions include agreements involving Aypa Power and Sabre Industries, alongside Legence's initial public offering and acquisitions of Dresser Utility Solutions and Advanced Cooling Technologies.
