The exploration aims to feed potential gold mineralisation to the company's nearby Mt Moss facility.
Sunshine Metals (ASX:SHN) has commenced a 28-hole, 2,680m reverse circulation drilling programme at its 100%-owned Sybil Epithermal Gold Project in North Queensland.
The programme represents the first drill testing at the Burdekin Veins and Cisco prospects while expanding work at Francis Creek.
"Our recent drilling at Francis Creek has demonstrated the presence of high-grade gold mineralisation, while geological mapping and surface sampling have identified a pipeline of compelling targets across the broader project," said Sunshine Metals Managing Director Dr Damien Keys.
Surface rock chip samples from the outcropping vein systems returned high-grade values of up to 6.48g/t Au at Burdekin North and 3.02g/t Au at Burdekin South.
The company stated that exploration success at Sybil has the potential to supply additional gold mineralisation to its Mt Moss processing facility, which is progressing towards production in 2027.
Following the announcement, the Sunshine Metals share price was unchanged at $0.024.
The Sybil project forms a key part of the broader Ravenswood Consolidated Project located in North Queensland.
Additionally, an extension to the company's airborne magnetic-radiometric survey is scheduled to commence in November.
