  • Sparc Technologies, Fortescue, and Adelaide University committed $1.3 million in pro-rata equity funding to advance Sparc Hydrogen.

  • The funding supports technology scale-up, expanded material sourcing, and collaborative testing following successful initial pilot facility operations.

  • The joint venture aims to develop low-cost green hydrogen technology alongside Sparc Technologies' ongoing commercial graphene operations.

Sparc Technologies (ASX:SPN) locked in $1.3 million in joint pro-rata funding alongside Fortescue and Adelaide University to advance Sparc Hydrogen into its next development stage.

The new capital follow-up comes after initial operations at the first-of-its-kind SHARP pilot facility.

"We are delighted that Fortescue, Adelaide University and Sparc Technologies are again investing alongside one another to fund the next stage of Sparc Hydrogen’s technology development," said Sparc Technologies Managing Director Nick O'Loughlin.

The cash injection will fund collaboration with US-based SunHydrogen to test high-efficiency water-splitting modules and support an expanded materials sourcing strategy.

The company stated that Sparc Hydrogen provides exposure to a clean hydrogen production process alongside its commercial graphene business.

Following the announcement, the Sparc Technologies share price was unchanged at $0.16.

Sparc Technologies is an Australian materials technology firm focused on commercialising graphene and photocatalytic water-splitting technologies.

The company holds a 36% equity interest in Sparc Hydrogen as it works towards commercial delivery.
