I would track CoreWeave’s orders and Nvidia demand as indicators of AI infrastructure demand, but for investment exposure I would favour cash-generating cloud platforms.

CoreWeave clearly has demand: it reported about $104 billion of revenue backlog at Q2, excluding more than $25 billion of additional commitments added early in Q3. However, the market is now questioning the financing model rather than whether customers want GPUs.

That distinction matters. CoreWeave’s debt is around $50 billion, while yields on some of its bonds recently approached 16%. Strong bookings therefore need to translate into operating cash flow quickly enough to support capex, interest and refinancing.

Nvidia demand can tell us whether the AI boom remains strong, but free cash flow tells us whether that demand creates durable shareholder value. Until CoreWeave demonstrates that conversion more clearly, I prefer platforms capable of funding AI investment largely from their own cash generation.

Goldman Upgrades CRWV to Buy; Will Neocloud Split Widen?
CoreWeave fell 0.44% while Nebius rose 2.88% despite Goldman Sachs upgrading CoreWeave to Buy. Bulls argue asset-backed financing costs are manageable and higher revenue per unit of compute could improve returns. Bears note the stock failed to rally, while leverage, depreciation, and repeated fundraising remain concerns. Should investors assess CoreWeave’s financing, track Nebius’s orders, or favor cloud platforms with steadier cash flow?
