  • The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission approved Brett Blundy’s Singapore-based BBFIT Investments to purchase Bonds, Bras N Things, and Berlei from US giant Hanes.

  • The transaction value is set at $700 million, with a target completion date set for Christmas.

  • The acquisition aims to expand the retail portfolio of brands that also includes Sheridan and Playtex.

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission announced that BBFIT Investments may proceed with the $700 million acquisition of three major apparel brands from Hanes.

The regulatory clearance was granted despite the buyer holding existing investments in discount chain Best & Less and lingerie label Léays.

The competition regulator stated that the acquisition is unlikely to substantially lessen competition in any Australian market despite wholesale and retail supply overlaps.

The transaction covers the purchase of Bonds, Bras N Things, and Berlei, alongside the Sheridan and Playtex brands.

Retail investor Brett Blundy is one of the country's prominent business figures with previous stakes in Lovisa (ASX:LOV) and City Chic Collective (ASX:CCX).

New rules introduced in January require businesses to notify certain acquisitions to the regulator and wait for formal approval before proceeding.
