$Alibaba(BABA)$ isnât just building an AI model.
Itâs building the chip, the cloud infrastructure and the models around it.
The company just unveiled its Zhenwu V900 AI accelerator, which Alibaba says delivers 3Ă the performance of its previous generation and can be connected in clusters of up to 500,000 chips.
Then came the bigger ambition:
Qwen 4 is already in training, with future models targeted at 5â10 trillion parameters.
And Alibaba wants more than 20GW of global data-centre capacity by 2032.
That makes this bigger than one new chip.
Itâs a bet on owning the entire AI stack.
For $NVIDIA(NVDA)$ , the interesting question isnât whether Alibaba suddenly replaces it globally. Itâs whether China can increasingly develop domestic alternatives that reduce reliance on Nvidia hardware.
For Alibaba, the bigger question is whether all this infrastructure eventually translates into meaningful cloud and AI revenue.
The technology claims are ambitious. The execution still has to prove itself.
But one thing is becoming harder to ignore:
China isnât sitting out the AI infrastructure race.
$BABA $NVDA
Would you rather invest in the company selling the AI chips â or the company building its own entire AI ecosystem?
