$SK hynix(SKHY)$  Memory fundamentals haven't suddenly cracked, at least not according to the way analysts are framing it. The industry backdrop still looks stronger than Tuesday's stock moves would suggest.

AI data centres keep consuming more high-bandwidth memory, DRAM and flash storage while supply stays constrained. Manufacturers are also signing longer-term customer agreements, which improves visibility compared with previous cycles.

ClearBridge Investments portfolio manager Divya Mathur told Reuters earlier this month that the recent volatility in semiconductor stocks appears disconnected from any material change in long-term fundamentals. She added that share prices can react more sharply than the underlying outlook when investors reassess expectations and risk appetite.

Deutsche Bank analyst Melissa Weathers has similarly argued that this memory cycle is different from others. She expects DRAM supply to remain tight through 2027 and into 2028 as AI demand keeps pressure on HBM memory availability.
